Mike Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Congratulations to Bryant Turner on winning the defensive player of the week award, first Bomber to take home an award this season. Chaosmonkey 1
17to85 Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 defensive player of the week HAD to go to someone one the bombers defense. Turner takes it home but it really was a team award as far as I'm concerned. Mr Dee 1

Mike Posted July 9, 2013 Author Report Posted July 9, 2013 The other winners this week were Hugh Charles, Andrew Harris and Jock Sanders. As selected by the generous and humble Bryant Turner.
kelownabomberfan Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Turner also was awarded the Nobel prize in Medicine this weekend, as while in the hospital in Montreal he cured ovarian cancer and diabetes. Chaosmonkey and Jpan85 2
Jacquie Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I enjoy reading these Bryant Turner things but can someone explain how this whole thing got started. Noeller 1
Noeller Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I enjoy reading these Bryant Turner things but can someone explain how this whole thing got started. It was Mike on the other site. When BT92 first came to the WBB, Mike had been reading all about him and hyped him up pretty good, to the point where he started turning them into Chuck Norris -type things, because even he knew that his comments were so over-blown. As with most things of this nature, once he started it, (and the fact that BT was backing it up...) people just ran with it.....

Back in the day, he contacted me on Twitter thinking I was in the personnel department for the team and thanked me for giving BT (and Denmark, who he also represented) a chance to make the team. I explained I was just a fan and we got to talking about players and he just really had me sold on Turner as a player.
Mr Dee Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 I enjoy reading these Bryant Turner things but can someone explain how this whole thing got started. Bryant saw the need for all things 'turn' to be shaped and done, so it so became turner. Noeller 1
Mr Dee Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Bryant has so inspired the club that no stone has gone unturned to find a another Turner to put some more awe in 'some', for it is known to many that one good Turner deserves another. Chaosmonkey 1

Mike Posted July 10, 2013 Author Report Posted July 10, 2013 Oh, there is so much more fun that you could have had with that... Back when I used to talk to Penton more on Twitter and have conversations with some of the players, etc it used to come up pretty often actually. I don't think it helped that my Twitter handle has "wpg" in it just like the Bombers' official page and I had to change my display picture to something that wasn't a Bomber logo but before that, I used to get players sending me Youtube videos, agents contacting me for tryout information and all kinds of stuff like that pretty regularly. The weirdest one I ever had was somebody from a little town newspaper in North Carolina contacting me for permission to interview Perry Floyd for a local article. It's entertaining, but I never messed with anyone.
Noeller Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Yeah, that'd get you in a bit of trouble with the club. Pretty funny that people made the assumption, tho....
sweep the leg Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 It's entertaining, but I never messed with anyone. Yeah, it would be funny to mess with fans or even media that didn't know, but you don't want to do that with a guys dream of playing pro football.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Love Turners Tweet today! "I'm very thankful for the love i've been showed this week. Much love to my teammates for OUR DPOW award. #blessed #GOD ##goblue" I like how he gives credit to the team as well Noeller 1
holoman Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Gary Lawless and Paul Friesen used to tweet Mike for information.. I believe they still do.
Noeller Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Something I was disappointed that Jovon didn't do when he won DMOP in 2011, when everyone on the planet knew that was an award for the entire Bombers "Swaggerville" D....
Onyenegecha Posted July 10, 2013 Report Posted July 10, 2013 Congratulations to the Ticats D, who are now 2 for 2 for Offensive Player of the Week awards. bluto and johnzo 2
Jacquie Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Thanks for the explanation. Do you know if Bryant Turner has read any of the comments (past or present) and what he thinks of them? Congratulations to the Ticats D, who are now 2 for 2 for Offensive Player of the Week awards. Pretty much a continuation from last season.
Chaosmonkey Posted July 11, 2013 Report Posted July 11, 2013 Thanks for the explanation. Do you know if Bryant Turner has read any of the comments (past or present) and what he thinks of them? I bumped into him and jason vega in the food court of the mall in Regina last year before the Labour day game. I asked about this and he said that he does see or hear about most of them and thinks they are funny, and that there are some creative people out there. Mike, Jacquie and Noeller 3
