DR. CFL Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I think the assumption that over spending the cap by 18k had a significant effect on them winning the cap is a bit of a stretch. A little perspective might be the Yankees annual attempt to spend and win the World Series. Floyd 1
M.O.A.B. Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 under 100k = $ for $ fine + down 1 spot for first pick 100k and over = $ for $ fine + lose first pick. that make sense to me
bearpants Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I wouldn't care too much if we won a cup by spending slightly over the cap.... if the league wants to be serious about penalizing teams for going over then start taking away draft picks.... dollar for dollar on $18k is no big deal
Mr Dee Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I would prefer some meaningful slap. The idea of moving down the draft makes sense. The drop for each 10K sounds right. But it would have to be in the 1st round. There seemed to be a conscious effort, with deferred payments, to keep the overage as low as possible. There should be more of a fitting punishment. Something like how we're punished when we have to listen to their blathering. Or it that too harsh?
gbill2004 Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I think the punishment for going over the cap should be that the teams play by play man for the season is Rod Black. Floyd, TBieber, Mr Dee and 1 other 4
Noeller Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 I think the punishment for going over the cap should be that the teams play by play man for the season is Rod Black. nah, make it something truly painful: They have to sit and listen to Iso and Nate talk about how everything WBB was great in 1965, Osborne Stadium was better than anything currently in the league, and that they wore onions on their belt... Mr Dee, SPuDS, johnzo and 2 others 5
rebusrankin Posted April 24, 2014 Report Posted April 24, 2014 Take away their draft picks for a year. Fine them $1,000,000 and stop kissing their ass by calling them Canada's team. Atomic 1
Floyd Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 its $17k... no big deal... as if you're going to take away a draft pick for $17k.... basically, they are over the cap because they had to payout grey cup bonuses - all teams should operate like this

They are over the cap because they spent too much on player salaries plain and simple.
rebusrankin Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 As others have said, Riders and their fans whined for years about an unlevel playing field. Now they have repeatedly exceded the SMS. Sickening. So Floyd, why have rules? Why have laws? Basically what you're saying.
Blueandgold Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 The Riders becoming the very thing they've despised for the last thirty years - the Evil Empire. rebusrankin 1

Well, Noeller. At least I've seen the Bombers win a Grey Cup unlike you. I never went to Osborne Stadium as that was before my time. By the pictures I've seen, it looked like an interesting place, though.

DR. CFL Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 The cfl pays for 54 playoff shares to be distributed to active, injured and 9 game injured. Any other shares paid to coaches, staff and pr players are at the expense of the team. Bonus clauses to the players for playoff performances are not permitted in a standard player contract. Atomic 1

They could, but if the league pays them, why insert them in a contract? Most contracts have bonuses in regards to games played or something with regards to stats.

Yeah, but no way that at 10 you were the fan you are now at 33 or 34. Great you have a 1990 pennant. You can't tell me that a GC victory by the Bombers wouldn't be a hugely emotional thing for you if they won now. Bigger than 1990 for you. I've been there, done that. But if I talk more about it, I'll have to bring in Nate to describe what the feeling is like when your team wins when you actually care. Noeller, just giving you the gears, man....
Brandon Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 If or when the Blue win another Grey Cup I think the feeling will be more of a huge monkey off the back rather then jubilation. Noeller 1

Keep in mind, the Bombers in 1990 not only did they win the cup, it was their 3rd in 6 years, so there was almost an expectation of not only appearing in the big game, but one of winning it as well.
