Rich Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 I'm going to be taking the site down around midnight tonight. I'm going to be migrating it to a new hosting provider. DNS settings are going to have to change and propagate throughout the web. This may take up to 48 hours. Hopefully the downtime is a lot less then that and when everyone wakes up tomorrow you don't notice any difference. But if not, this is the reason.

It should be back up by the time you get to work. In the extreme case, it may take that long.
iso_55 Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 Thanks for letting us know. We all appreciate it. And we appreciate your efforts in making this a great site. johnzo, MOBomberFan and SPuDS 3

TBURGESS Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 If you're using Windows, go into a command prompt tomorrow morning and type: ipconfig /flushdns to clear the DNS cache on your machine. That will force the system to go and ask the internet DNS servers for a new address. It won't work if the DNS server you are pointing to hasn't got the new address, but it's worth a shot.
Adrenaline_x Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 What's the new IP address so we can't edit our host files to point to the new site?
Rich Posted May 16, 2014 Author Report Posted May 16, 2014 We should be back online. Was a fun night. Don't think I'll be doing this again anytime soon unless I absolutely have to. Let me know if you see any issues with the site.
voodoochylde Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 It was a seemless experience .. except for the fact I actually had to work when I got into the office first thing today. ;-)
MOBomberFan Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Hmm, can reach on my mobile but not ie8, Firefox or chrome...
The Unknown Poster Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Gonna say same thing. Works on my cell. Not on my computer. Still says it's down for maintenance. MOBomberFan 1
TBURGESS Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Works fine for me on my cell and my WIndows 8 laptop in Chrome or IE. The IP address is: 198.89.126.233 according to Google dns server (8.8.8.8). Clear your dns cache if you get something else.
The Unknown Poster Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 My work comp is running windows 93 or something. Maybe that's the problem.
iso_55 Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Works fine on my laptop. Interesting that before the change I couldn't quote a message on IE but could on Google Chrome. Now I can quote using both browsers.
Rich Posted May 16, 2014 Author Report Posted May 16, 2014 It is the same for me. Works on my phone. Hopefully Shaw pushes the updates soon. (And mts if it isn't working there either) The quotes in IE was a separate fix. Managed to find a patch for that a few days ago. Thanks all for your patience. SPuDS and iso_55 2
