Atomic Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Not gonna lie, I'm pretty pumped about this one. Darren Cameron @Darren_Cameron 2m #Bombers announce the club has signed veteran running back @KevinSmithRB.

sweep the leg Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Beat me to it. Interesting signing. If he can stay healthy he could be a good one. That's a pretty big if though.

Tracker Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 As long as all his parts are still functioning and connected, he ought to be exactly what we need to both keep our QB's vertical and get us those tough 3 yards when we really need them.
Atomic Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 He finished 2012 healthy after losing his starting job, and he did not play in 2013 although he worked out for a couple teams including the Colts and Giants during the season. He had a lot of miles on his body after his college career and his first couple seasons in the NFL, but at 27 years old you would think he has something left in the tank. He should be healthy after the last couple years of not playing much football.
Noeller Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 So I have absolutely no clue who this is....please to be explaining why the excitement......?
Mike Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 So I have absolutely no clue who this is....please to be explaining why the excitement......? Former NFL back ... nearly a 1000 rusher at one point ... several 100 yard games ... style of running very well suited to CFL ... still only 27 Noeller 1
Logan007 Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I'm liking this as well. Kevin is good. As long as he can stay healthy.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I like this. A lot. I like that Mike likes this... Jimmy Pop and The Unknown Poster 2
Atomic Posted May 20, 2014 Author Report Posted May 20, 2014 Good receiver out of the backfield as well. Tough runner, think Chad Simpson but bigger.
Noeller Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Good receiver out of the backfield as well. Tough runner, think Chad Simpson but bigger. Big guy sitting on the sidelines constantly injured? Floyd and MOBomberFan 2
JayPee Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 If we get 16 games out of this guy I'll be thrilled. Great signing! One of the best ways for an inexperienced QB to ease into a long-term comfort zone is with a deadly threat at tailback. A healthy Kevin Smith could be just that. Well done, new regime!
sweep the leg Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 It's pretty crazy that he ran the ball over 900 times in college.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Chad Simpson 2.0 Let's hope more along the lines of Korey Sheets 2.0 - But hopefully without the drama
MinisterOfD5 Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Smith is a great signing! He can also block and pick up the blitz well.
bearpants Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 Chad Simpson 2.0 incorrect... different runner, better blocker, and much better catcher out of the back field.... unless you're just referring to injuries, then yes, definitely a possibility... I have to say I'm very excited about this signing... I had him on my fantasy team for a couple years and he was a "must start" when healthy... I just hope his injuries are past him
Blueandgold Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 He played very good for the Lions in 2011 when they signed him midway through the season, but he was god awful in 2012 then sat out last year. He may be talented, but I don't have much faith in his ability to be productive and stay on the field for an entire year.
Tracker Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I like this. A lot. I like that Mike likes this... I like that Jimmypop and the unknown poster like that you like Mike liking this. BaconNBigBlue and max power 2
Nasty Nate Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 As long as no one expects a 27/28 year old ex-NFL lamer to carry the mail for 18 games then why not? Guy could be past his expiry date and then we'll find out in camp. Or he could be a terrific guy to back-load the import RB position behind the current speedball. Simpson was pretty good for the most part but that darned recurring foot injury did him in. Appears Smith is a tad more versatile than Simpson. Another plus.
Mike Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 As long as no one expects a 27/28 year old ex-NFL lamer to carry the mail for 18 games then why not? Very good point, after all ... when's the last time that happened? Jacquie, Floyd and robynjt 3
The Unknown Poster Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I I like this. A lot. I like that Mike likes this... I like that Jimmypop and the unknown poster like that you like Mike liking this. generally I scroll down for the Mike post before i decide how I feel about most things concerning talent for the Bombers. holoman 1
