Mr. Perfect Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 From the Blue Bomber Twitter feed. No surprise. Despite not being sold on him, it will be good to see him in a full regular season game to see what he is all about, and hopefully get some good things done out there.
Mr. Perfect Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 Bo Levi Mitchell also confirmed as Calgary's starter. Noeller 1
Blueandgold Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Bo Levi Mitchell also confirmed as Calgary's starter. Mitchell and Goltz should be an exciting battle with two young guns, we have an outside shot of winning this one. Noeller 1
Noeller Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Love this match-up. Great for both teams, great for the league as a whole. Future vs Future.... bluto 1
Jimmy Pop Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 So, are we relying on Goltz to have a great game in order for him to be annointed the team's starter? Is there anything he can do to be the full time #1? I LOVE the fact that he's starting this week, I'd just hate it to be a one off, and have Buck trot back out in Week 6. I don't know how many more "he (Buck) gives us the best chance to win" bullcrap statements I can take from Burke...
bluto Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Love this match-up. Great for both teams, great for the league as a whole. Future vs Future.... looking forward to this!
Fraser Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Love this match-up. Great for both teams, great for the league as a whole. Future vs Future.... agreed. I wonder if Buck will still dress? IIRC we don't even have more than 3 Qb's on the roster.
AKAChip Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 However, I can't help but think that even if Goltz plays well and we win that Buck will be leading the troops out to their deaths again once he is healthy. Blue-urns 1
Mr. Perfect Posted July 24, 2013 Author Report Posted July 24, 2013 Bo Levi Mitchell also confirmed as Calgary's starter. My mistake. Misread a tweet by Penton, not confirmed at this point.. Still possible he may start however.
voodoochylde Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 It's a shame that Goltz won't have the benefit of playing with a healthy (or at least a full compliment) cast of starters.
AKAChip Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Let's also not let the Goltz story overshadow the real news: The promotion of Wesley Pendleton to the active roster.

That goes both ways, neither has BP. That being said, with the exception of Matthews, Goltz pretty much does have the full offence.

Banged up Edwards .. no Watson .. no Matthews .. Pierce has had access to those three guys at some point this year .. Guess I'm simply hoping Goltz has every opportunity to put his best foot forward .. want to turn the page on Pierce.
rebusrankin Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Excited to hear this. Hope he plays well.
robynjt Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Possibly the only home game I'll get to see this year, looking forward to it...

Fair enough, I'm with you guys in that at the end of the day, all I want is for us to win. Whether that's with Pierce, Goltz, or Kerwin Bell leaving his coaching gig in Florida, coming out of retirement and suiting up once again, I'm all for it. We'll see whether or not Goltz has "it" come Friday.
Atomic Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Goltz could use a strong performance from Simpson
BBlink Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 I think Goltz will be a good thing FOR Simpson. Pretty well every time Goltz has decided to bootleg it, he has been wide open to do so. This may open Simpson up more when teams finally try to contain Goltz.
iso_55 Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Looks like it's going to be Justin Goltz vs Bo Levi Mitchell. Both young guys getting their first starts. (Huff hasn't confirmed his starter just yet). Be great to see what the 2 young guys can do.
kelownabomberfan Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Goltz could use a strong performance from Simpson with Goltz's scrambling ability, that hopefully will open up some holes for Simpson as they can't just stack the box like they do with Buck and force him to throw or just stand there like a deer in headlights waiting for a DT to fall on him.
Guest Posted July 24, 2013 Report Posted July 24, 2013 Hopefully Goltz can just play well, this is his first real shot here, and so long as he shows progress, it'll be a good day I suppose. Although I'd be more comfortable with Hall starting, that's mainly due to my belief that Hall fits Crowton's system better, and IMO I think Crowton brought in Hall for a reason, Max seems to be the type of QB that Gary wants.
