IC Khari Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 It's early but so far I'm liking how our Willy looks ...
IC Khari Posted June 15, 2014 Author Report Posted June 15, 2014 I did say it was early Also everyone always thinks their Willy is better ...
Harbaugh Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I always thought Collaros was more of a smoke and mirrors kind of QB last year... Time will tell.
gbill2004 Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I was very disappointed when we lost out on Collaros and Burris. But the more I see of Willy, the more I'm happy he's the QB we got. James and IC Khari 2
Mr. Perfect Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Collaros struggles against the rush. Hamilton's offensive line isn't even close in quality to Toronto. We'll be just fine with Willy. We may not be good this year, but he won't be the reason why.
iso_55 Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Willy hasn't looked out of place & the more reps he gets in practice as well as game experience he'll improve. I'm beginning to worry about Max Hall a bit. He didn't get a lot of playing time in 2 games which is a shock to me & he doesn't look comfortable out there. Why is Brohm getting so much playing time? I don't get it. Marve got more garbage time with only about 4 minutes of playing time in the fourth quarter. I think he's done. He'll be the odd man out, I think... But Brohm possibly #2? I don't get that. I will say he did look better against the Stamps than on Monday vs Toronto so there was some improvement there.
Adrenaline_x Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Marvel made beautiful spiral on the run. Our receiver dropped a lot of passes in all our qbs. Brutal. Our defence need to learn to stop the run. Vanilla is a horrible excuse. Even if u are running a simple scheme u should be able to stop the run at some point.
johnzo Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I was very disappointed when we lost out on Collaros and Burris. But the more I see of Willy, the more I'm happy he's the QB we got. I'm impressed by Willy's pocket presence. He seems to move away from danger well and he keeps his eyes downfield and completes passes even when he's under siege. It's been a long time since we've had a QB who could do that at all. I'm thinking we're going to be like Edmonton was last year: pretty awful record but with promising QB play.
gbill2004 Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Did anyone see how Collaros looked yesterday?

Fatty Liver Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Marvel made beautiful spiral on the run. Our receiver dropped a lot of passes in all our qbs. Brutal. Our defence need to learn to stop the run. Vanilla is a horrible excuse. Even if u are running a simple scheme u should be able to stop the run at some point. I counted 7 drops in that game that should have been caught, very bad. Did not notice any throws to Woods or Tarver in game two so I guess that experiment may be over. I'm confident the Bombers will have a dynamic passing attack this year once they get their first team receivers on the field and won't be surprised if Moore is the only new name in that group. Both Carter and Feoli-Gudino should make decent subs for Watson when he inevitably goes down. Is it possible for the Bombers to keep both on the roster?
Nasty Nate Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 I, too was hoping for Collaros to be our major acquire. However, in retrospect Willy is a far better team guy, seems to have bonded with coaching and management. Just doesn't have an o-line willing to bleed blue for him. Or unable. Willy is 4 or 5 inches taller than the slightly shortish Collaros. They appear to have about equal arms. Perhaps Collaros has a tiny advantage in arm strength. Collaros biggest advantage is he's the best broken play specialist in the league amongst QBs. Reilly and Lulay are close but Reilly is cutting back on running according to reports and Lulay will have to limit his breakaways cuz if he doesn't his career will be limited. Marve might actually be a nice broken play guy but we've seen too little of him.

Tarver seems to be the only consensus lock-down cut for the bombers. Woods isn't far off. Tate and one of those inert o-linemen will also get zapped. No surprises - they won't touch any of their QBs yet. The only minor shocker is if they part ways with Alex Suber. The only major shocker on the table is if they drive Korey Banks or Glen January to the edge of town. (no panic folks, I think January is quite safe despite his mediocrity)
17to85 Posted June 15, 2014 Report Posted June 15, 2014 Our defence need to learn to stop the run. don't hold your breath. The mad scientist cares nothing for run defence.

KptKrunch Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I was very disappointed when we lost out on Collaros and Burris. But the more I see of Willy, the more I'm happy he's the QB we got. Though I don't blame them, I'm sick and tired of listening to the CFL commentators talking about how we "got our man" in Willy. It's the worst kept secret in the world that Collaros is who we were targeting right from day 1. When the QB was released and signed by Hamilton, then the subsequent release of Burris, we made a HUUUUUGEEEE offer for Burris (only thing bigger than that would have been the mistake if he had taken it - thankfully he went to Ottawa). Willy was the bombers third choice and if the dumb dumb talking heads would just state the obvoius and then....... see above. I agree that so far I like how Willy is moving the team and taking command of the huddle. Though it's only pre-season and he hasn't faced any adversity yet, he is at least showing something we haven't seen in here in a very very long time.
iso_55 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I guess you could say that Collaros wasn't the only backup qb capable of being a starter.

Remind me again about the order that these QBs became available…. Mr. Perfect, mbrg and Logan007 3
gbill2004 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I firmly believe Willy was the Bombers number one target based on comments made by Walters and McManus a couple months before free agency began. I also believe the Bombers wanted to pair Willy with either Collaros or Burris. Mr. Perfect 1
iso_55 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I happen to agree that Collaros was #1, Burris #2 & Willy #3. Really doesn't matter now as he is our qb. He seems to be progressing nicely.
SPuDS Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Im kinda confused as to why walters or mcmanus would feel the need to lie to us about that.. To keep willy happy? Doubtful.. To keep us happy? Also doubtful... So really, when they say it was drew willy as #1 then why presume it's a lie?
