Mike Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Made official this morning Kenny Tate Errol Brooks Chris Kowalczuk CJ Tarver no surprise on Tarver. The other three would not have been my first guesses.
rebusrankin Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 We only have 6 national OL on the roster. That is scary.
Mike Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 We only have 6 national OL on the roster. That is scary. sadly, we can probably find some upgrades via the waiver wire when all the cuts are made. iso_55 1
BBlink Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 We only have 6 national OL on the roster. That is scary. For 3-4 positions...not too bad. Considering Goosen and Morley were doing good jobs snapping the ball, it was pretty easy to conclude Chris Kowalczuk was going to be cut.
BBlink Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 IMO none of these cuts are really surprises. What did Kenny Tate do at all? He was given so many chances to make an impact. Errol Brooks just doesn't have enough size or skill and I feel like we may DI Paris Cotton (looks like he's a good returner and RB). My question is how they feel about Urutia, being that he has been given the same amount of chances as Kenny Tate to make an impact, and hasn't either.
rebusrankin Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Oh, I get it from a talent level but 6 is still low. I know its a sad reflection on our previous admins.
Atomic Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 We barely have enough Canadians to fill a roster right now, I figured they would focus on cutting internationals at this point. Seems odd to cut Kowalczuk right now... if we lose a single interior lineman to injury then we don't really have anyone to step in. Unless they feel comfortable putting Quinn Everett in the lineup already. DR. CFL 1

I think he's our feature back.
bearpants Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 re: Errol Brooks, did he really get an opportunity to play in pre-season?... I don't really recall him playing in the games and I thought some said he looked good in practice.. re: Kenny Tate, is he not a natural LB? why was he not given a shot at LB?
BBlink Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah it's a little weird to think that Kenny Tate was supposed to be that ultimate "Gary Etcheverry" type player, but ended up being cut pretty early.
Mike Posted June 16, 2014 Author Report Posted June 16, 2014 The only reason Tate being cut bothers me is because we cut guys who weren't "Etch" types and kept guys who were and now the epitome of an Etch guy is the first one cut.

With that statement, im bothered now what the future holds for Anderson.

Unless they feel comfortable putting Quinn Everett in the lineup already. It is not typical to have so few NI olinemen, but 6 guys should be able to fill 3 spots, at least in the short term. As for Kowalczuk, what is the point of keeping him around if he's simply not good enough? We wouldn't want him on the field then anyways.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 That sucks but what I expected. I know. I'm sure he will find his way on to a team this year.
kelownabomberfan Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I sense a repeat of the Paredes fiasco. We keep an average bum and cut a guy who goes on to kick 80% for some other team for the next 12 years. Sigh. I really was hoping we'd keep Maher. He had such an awesome kicking motion and such good distance and accuracy. Not a fan of this move.
M.O.A.B. Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Let's not forget, Lirim can do all 3 kicking job. Renaud job might not be safe yet. Anybody see the Bombers give the Legacy another run?
Mr Dee Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Bob Wylie confirmed our suspicions about Kowalczuk over these last few years. Brett Maher - are we going to try to keep him around? He's so very good. It's just so odd that we go years without a decent kicker….then we get two of them at once. Lirim Hajrullahu - welcome aboard…you are not a consolation prize. blitzmore 1
DR. CFL Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 The Nationals are laughing now. Count heads on the roster and the rest of the nationals make the squad by default. The sad reality league wide of simply not enough quality nationals to supply a 9 team league.
Noeller Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 damn it...was hoping we could keep both guys somehow. He'll definitely end up on someone's roster...
Floyd Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 CK was a DelMonaco project... 'nuff said. Still, a bit surprised that Howard, Dumas and Blake survived.
OldSchoolBlue Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 I'll be shocked if we don't pick up some scrub Nationals (still sounds weird to me) from other team's cuts.
