mbrg Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Good for the kid. Hopefully he makes it there. And hopefully the guys we kept do great. There we go. Concise and sensible. Exactly how I feel.
sweep the leg Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 If he catches on in Ottawa & scores 130 points & our placekicking isn't as good then it was a huge mistake. So if a guy we cut goes elsewhere, & plays much better than the guy we kept instead, it should be considered a bad thing for us? Thanks for clearing that up.
gbill2004 Posted June 21, 2014 Report Posted June 21, 2014 @PentonKirk: RT @TimCBaines: Surprise. #RedBlacks cut kicker Justin Palardy. #CFL #Ottawa

Yes he was being sarcastic, because your comment basically adds up to: "If the guy we cut ends up better than the guy we kept, then it was a mistake." Well no ****. That's how cuts work. sweep the leg 1

Goalie Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 WTF.. Maher released? Ottawas kicker is the creepy lumberjack i guess?
Tracker Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Smith looked very good last year, but maybe all the changes has set him back a bit. Given Popp's record of finding talent, I wouldn't write Smith off too soon, unless you're secretly rooting for Brink.
iso_55 Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 WTF.. Maher released? Ottawas kicker is the creepy lumberjack i guess? They have a bye Week 1 so they must have a line on some kickers to bring in & evaluate before then. I wonder if they'll pick up Stamps Tyler Crapigna who was released & sent back to CIS this season? He was never going to beat out Rob Maver & Rene Paredes.
TBURGESS Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Maher looked bad in the pre-season game. Missed a FG and put a kick off out of bounds. Not surprising that he was cut, but it is surprising that they don't have any kickers left.

Anytime.Yes he was being sarcastic, because your comment basically adds up to:"If the guy we cut ends up better than the guy we kept, then it was a mistake." Well no ****. That's how cuts work. Well actually... in this particular case if Maher plays better than Lirim it doesn't necessarily mean we made a mistake because of the ratio. Basically because we are playing NAT at kicker we don't need to play a NAT somewhere else. So we'd have to look at how much Maher plays better at the kicking position vs. how much of a dropoff we'd have at whatever position we would have to go NAT at if we kept Maher.
JuranBoldenRules Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Ottawa must be going import at kicker. They aren't going to get any better than Palardy off the NI scrap heap.
TBURGESS Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Close, but not quite. Carrying a NI kicker means and extra DI, not an extra starting Import.
gbill2004 Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 @sportscage: Hearing the RedBlacks will name Luca Congi as their kicker as early as Monday
Captain Blue Posted June 22, 2014 Report Posted June 22, 2014 Congi? Man Maher's passport is killing his chances more than I thought.
Jacquie Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Congi? Man Maher's passport is killing his chances more than I thought. I don't think his passport had much to do with his being cut by the RedBlacks. He didn't play well in his pre-season game with them.

iso_55 Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 With the new CBA I have no clue. I think a suspended list is a bad thing as Crapinga was cut. I don't like the idea of a team owning a players rights after they were cut.
Mr Dee Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 To all kickers…………….…………….Welcome to Ottawa! rebusrankin 1

rebusrankin Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Is Congi doing all three jobs? Hasn't punted since 2010 and has averaged 38 yards per punt in his career.
Floyd Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 HaHA... Ottawa re-signed Maher... Classic Desjardins mbrg 1
KptKrunch Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 HaHA... Ottawa re-signed Maher... Classic Desjardins They did? Wow so Congi didn't work out very well. But you watch, Maher will have a monster game against us..... though if we play like we did against the Argos, that monster game will mostly be punts
