johnzo Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Been sick at home all week, super happy to have a CFL game to watch as a break from all the Netflix. Stream I'm using, in case anyone needs one: http://nfl-streaming.tv/stream40.html
AKAChip Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I wonder how many times Rod Black will remind us that Jon Cornish is last year's MOP. Or that Troy Smith won the Heisman. If there is someone on earth who is worse at their job, I haven't found them yet. TSN could put my mailman on PBP and he'd do a better job.

Played 3 games in 2013, only 15 catches. Yes, only. 5 catches a game= 90 a season. Only 90. Mr. Perfect and AKAChip 2

I'm also glad he didn't get any better at determining how far away from the first down marker a ball carrier was tackled.

Stream I'm using, in case anyone needs one: http://nfl-streaming.tv/stream40.html Thanks for the site! One of the few that works at my work! and it's fairly good quality too
johnzo Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 Weird to see Brandon Whitaker running between the tackles so much -- got so many bad memories of Calvillo feeding him screen passes and swing passes and sweeps that just killed us over the past few years. Smith looks awful, and he got really lucky on that ill-advised wide-side out into the wind.
AKAChip Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Maybe it's me being picky but Rod constantly referring to things in this game being the "first of 2014" is unbearably annoying.
Bigblue204 Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 That was a bit of an odd play by the stamps. But worked out nicley.
Mr. Perfect Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Ugly start for Montreal. Take away the big TD pass and Calgary's offence hasn't looked that hot either.
johnzo Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 Troy Smith looking like Andre Ware out there .. he hasn't figured out how wide the CFL field is yet....
AKAChip Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Rod also doesn't know the difference between throwing the ball away and an incomplete pass.
Mr. Perfect Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Troy Smith plays a part in this of course, no denying that, but anytime you sack your OC in training camp is usually isn't a good sign of things to come for the season.
Bigblue204 Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 how does the ref standing right there not call that play? He was clearly down
JuranBoldenRules Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 If the Als are lucky, Smith will reach the upside of Michael Bishop. Have a handful of spectacular games, but inconsistent and inaccurate. I don't believe Marsh is much better either.
Mr. Perfect Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 how does the ref standing right there not call that play? He was clearly down Same reason the obvious PI call against Kelly was missed in the endzone - because it's the CFL.
johnzo Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 At game speed, I think it looked like Whitaker was bobbling the ball as he went down.
Jacquie Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 I thought that stadium announcer would never shut up so the official could talk. how does the ref standing right there not call that play? He was clearly downClearly in slow motion or game speed?
johnzo Posted June 28, 2014 Author Report Posted June 28, 2014 Heavy wind + wild Smith = not much of a passing game from either team.
KptKrunch Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Yep dud game for sure good to see Johnson finally get involved though, was wondering if he was playing
Mr. Perfect Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Take away Mitchell's 102 yard touchdown and he's 6/11 for 73 yards at this point. Dull game.
Mr. Perfect Posted June 28, 2014 Report Posted June 28, 2014 Awful read by Troy Smith. Saved by the penalty.
