SPuDS Posted June 30, 2014 Author Report Posted June 30, 2014 Yea the wind was absolutely insane these last 2 days.. We got downed power lines as well as trees and branches...
Mark H. Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 Crops ruined or yield severely reduced across most of the province.
road griller Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 Are they operating the floodway? The river is crazy high.
The Unknown Poster Posted June 30, 2014 Report Posted June 30, 2014 Are they operating the floodway? The river is crazy high. I havent heard anything on this yet. I believe there are hoops to jump through in operating the floodway to control river levels outside of spring flooding. What year was it, 2006 or 2007 -ish that we had rain all summer and they operated the floodway?

What year was it, 2006 or 2007 -ish that we had rain all summer and they operated the floodway? 2010 as iirc. Probably 3-4 more times as well over the last decade or so. The river has been running high for several years now. The erosion must be pretty bad also.
Brandon Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 The floodway is still empty as of yesterday... The rain is a disappointment... After the horrible winter I was hoping that summer would at least be decent. Zero beach days and its already July...
Brandon Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 actually, the floodway has been opened. I drove by yesterday and it was pretty dry.
AtlanticRiderFan Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Southeast Saskatchewan got flooded big time. Highways closed and State of Emergencies called. Fortunately, Saskatoon didn't get hit.
The Unknown Poster Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Floodway was utilized today according to twitter
road griller Posted July 1, 2014 Report Posted July 1, 2014 Good stuff thanks. And yes what a lousy summer so far, hopefully things turn around soon.
iso_55 Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 I was sitting on the beach yesterday at Lake Windermere in Invermere, BC in a blast furnace at 36 C. Lovin' it while the polar vortex made it's summer return elsewhere.
Atomic Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Who is the Minister of Weather?? I demand accountability for this bullshit summer iso_55 1
Brandon Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 I was sitting at Grand Beach and they evacuated everyone as a massive storm hit the area. This summer has sucked
iso_55 Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Not a drop of rain at the Calgary Stampede this year which is amazing. Usually, there are nice days mixed in with hot, cold, rain & thunderstorms. This year,it's been warm &b dry the entire 10 days. Today is the last day.

It's usually really hot during stampede with storms in the evenings... but yeah been super hot these past few days. Shame I was stuck working. Finally get summer and I work through it. Hope it lasts until I'm done. iso_55 1
Logan007 Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Floodway has been opened up for a while and it's been rising. I drive by it twice a day to and from work. It's pretty high right now.
road griller Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 The river has dropped over a foot at Kildonan Bridge since they opened it.
Logan007 Posted July 14, 2014 Report Posted July 14, 2014 Actually the floodway was full last week. I didn't notice it this morning but took a look on the way home and it's down again as well.
