IC Khari Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 When I found out Burke was going there I wondered if they had noticed his recent body of work. Guess they didn't ...
bearpants Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I'm a little surprised.... Burke was no head coach but he certainly knows how to run a defense.... lots of player turn-over, new systems, new assistant coaches..... I think they'll get it together eventually
TBieber Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 They lost several key members of the defence and haven't exactly replaced them well.
17to85 Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Looks new faces in that secondary, that shouldn't really be a surprise, plus they've played two of the best teams in the league already in Calgary and Winnipeg, that will skew the stats.
Chaosmonkey Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Burke usually live and die by getting pressure with just four rushing? And it seems to me that Toronto doesn't have the DLine to get this done. blitzmore 1
TBieber Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Burke usually live and die by getting pressure with just four rushing? And it seems to me that Toronto doesn't have the DLine to get this done. They have three sacks from their defensive line... six defensive linemen have that many themselves. Between his resistance to blitz, and the wide turnover on the D, it has been an obvious disaster thus far.
do or die Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Hope he gets the Argo D turned around.....have nothing against Burke - the DC.
Armchair GM Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 I'm enjoying watching Burke's D get torched. Lost most of the respect I had for Burke after the worst leadership effort I can ever remember in the 2013 debacle. Lost the rest of it when he still wasn't accepting any responsibility in his Freep interview before our home opener. It's possible to like a man personally for his candor, and dislike him professionally because he's a poor leader, and refuses to take responsibility for his role in a disaster of a season. That's how I feel about Burke. Bigblue204, Brandon, Goalie and 4 others 7
Mr Dee Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 But in Burke's defence………….OK, I have nothing. I surrender. Adrenaline_x and Blue-urns 2
mbrg Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Hope he gets the Argo D turned around.....have nothing against Burke - the DC. Ideally they play well against all western teams that don't rhyme with shinnepeg. If we want to make a run up the western standings, getting some help from eastern teams would ease the strain. johnzo 1
Chaosmonkey Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 But in his defence………….OK, I have nothing. I surrender. Look, I'm pretty sure you are neither ahead or behind right now. It's all even. Just take a knee. Bigblue204 1
iso_55 Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 Braley lets his players out of their contracts to go to the NFL. I think the NFL must be giving him $$$ under the table for each player he tells Barker to release. This year it has really caught up to them.
TBieber Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 But in Burke's defence………….OK, I have nothing. I surrender. Well Burkie has nothing in his defence either, so it's all even. As someone else said, may as well just take a knee. Or throw the players under the bus.
JuranBoldenRules Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 No, Burke is an idiot with a scheme that relies on players playing out of their mind to be successful.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 They said on 1290 it's over the 29k mark with a little over a day left!
gbill2004 Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 They said on 1290 it's over the 29k mark with a little over a day left! Wrong thread.
TBieber Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 They said on 1290 it's over the 29k mark with a little over a day left! Wrong thread. You think it's out of the question to say that the Argos have allowed over 29,000 yards this week? I know it's a lot, but... Blue-urns 1
Bomber_fanaddict Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Ugh...too much to drink today...gotta lay off the booze.
road griller Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Toronto sucks, Ray is done Owens is done both too old and injured. The D sucks as well putting more pressure on them. Wonder what the league is going to do with this one? Can't hand over another QB on a silver plater to the parasites. Maybe now is the time to move them to Saskatoon. Or Brandon or Davidson or Virden, all better choices than the fan wasteland of TO.
Mr. Perfect Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Ray is done? Seriously? Based on what? He's leading the league in passing yards, leading the league in completion percentage, has a touchdown to interception ratio of 5:0 and a QBR of 117. SPuDS 1
Mark H. Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 It's a tad early - to start the funeral parade for the Argos.
Adrenaline_x Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 I believe road triller is kidding. road griller 1
road griller Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 I will actually be surprised if Ray finishes the season upright, old man Owens will be damaged all season with his ankle. The high percentage dink and stink has them one win against the Rump Riders, looks good on paper I guess but Ray is going to go down fast imo maybe the Hair Club for Men is an option? Back up material in 2015. Ottawa kicks them this week.
TBieber Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 It's going to be extremely difficult for the Argos to move the ball given Owens consumed 34% of the targets and completions thus far this season. Especially with Durie and Jason Barnes out as well. Coombs is going to get what few Canadian rookies get to do in this league, and that is make a significant impact immediately. They're going to need him to be big. John Chiles has got to be the John Chiles we have seen before as well.
do or die Posted July 17, 2014 Report Posted July 17, 2014 Coombs can ball....but the Argo O, is predicated on the short quick stuff....with YAC. They might struggle in that area, for a while.....
