17to85 Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 If these guys can get us on the same page and get some wins they don't even appear to be on the same page themselves, or reading the same book so I have no faith that they can get things turned around.
Captain Blue Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 they don't even appear to be on the same page themselves, or reading the same book so I have no faith that they can get things turned around. One guy's reading a book, the other watching TV and the third is in the bathroom...
Mr Dee Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 they don't even appear to be on the same page themselves, or reading the same book so I have no faith that they can get things turned around. I just heard Burke on the coach's show and tried to write word for word what was said, this while I was posting in the "Burke wanted Glenn thread. Burke sounded anything but down about the situation and without saying so, virtually implied they're trying to get it together "on the same page"
17to85 Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Burke sounded anything but down about the situation and without saying so, virtually implied they're trying to get it together "on the same page" yeah but Burke hasn't ever sounded down. He's always seemed to try and find positives. The problem is that he has shown absolutely no ability to turn things around. Many of his games last season were a disaster, the start to this season has been a disaster. He's said and done some painfully bad things. Some guys are good coordinators but don't have what it takes to be the head guy, Burke appears to be one of these. It's been one mistake after the other with that guy. At best he is just absolutely not ready to be a head coach.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Who called Marcel is only important in the sense it's another example of mixed messages and contradictions which itself is another example of the dysfunction going on here.
pigseye Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I'm telling ya, let's fire Burke now and let Bellefool run the ship for the last couple months just to complete the mess they've put themselves into. Season is a write off already because Burke and Crowton know they're dead men walking, the players are now confused by the **** moves being made, they'll give up in short order if they haven't already. Season is already flushed down the crapper might as well clear out all of the people who will be gone right now and make sure we hire better people this offseason. And let Creehan run the defence on his own........you plug one hole in the dyke and another one opens. Burke's value is to the defence not as a HC.
Brandon Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Who called Marcel is only important in the sense it's another example of mixed messages and contradictions which itself is another example of the dysfunction going on here. How so? Marcel clearly said he was called up 48 hours ago, so clearly it was Miller. I see no contradictions here what so ever.

The end of the season is shaping up to be a disaster so let's blow it up good. I'm just tired of Burkes clueless handling of the team.

I'm definitely not defending his coaching, I'm just telling you what was being said about how the whole affair is being handled. To me it doesn't sound as much a fire drill as the media and forums are making it sound.

The end of the season is shaping up to be a disaster so let's blow it up good. I'm just tired of Burkes clueless handling of the team. Tim Burke has been a huge disappointment to me. Great DC & I thought he'd make a difference. I was wrong. Maybe with another team that offers stability & support from management he could do well, but not with this club. I think he's a good man caught in a bad situation & clearly in over his head. And he has to brush up on his Media101 classes to stop saying the wrong things at the wrong time. I believe this club is going to be blown up coaching & player wise this off season. Mangement already has but they can't do much more as we are in season. Lots of changes will be coming between November & June.
Mr Dee Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 I think he's a good man caught in a bad situation & clearly in over his head. This sounds about right to me.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 It was reported all over this morning that it was Burke who hired Marcel.
Mr Dee Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 It was reported all over this morning that it was Burke who hired Marcel. Not according to this : http://www.winnipegs...yed-at-demotion "As for the hiring of longtime CFL coach Marcel Bellefeuille as a consultant for the offence, Burke said that wasn’t just his call, either. New CEO Wade Miller was involved. In fact, Bellefeuille said it was Miller who called him on the weekend." -KBF

The likely situation was they were talking about the possibility of bringing Bellefool in and only just made the move now.
the watcher Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 You see? You see what happens when you fire the GM midseason? You throw the entire rest of the year and next year into the toilet completely. All for the price of millions of dollars in salaries for people to not work for you and empty seats in the stadium. How do you equate the hurt feelings of a young man who put up a mediocre performance to a year and of a half of disaster? Just asking.

The likely situation was they were talking about the possibility of bringing Bellefool in and only just made the move now. Sure. Let's just say the phone number was real handy. But that's the point. First there was talk. Then...there was action. And not by Burke as was stated by "someone unknown"
17to85 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 How do you equate the hurt feelings of a young man who put up a mediocre performance to a year and of a half of disaster? Just asking. cause next season we get a new GM and new head coach and likely a hell of a lot of new faces, chances of a totally new bunch having immediate success is slim to none. GIven the drama around the team right now can't expect anything to get turned around this year, so no playoffs this year. That's a year and a half. Always happens when you fire people midseason. you waste the rest of the current season and the next one.

I think you are underestimating what Marcel is going to do for this offense. Give it a chance.
Fraser Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 on the bright side breaking bad is back! Atomic 1
Blueandgold Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 That's so negative. I don't think it's that bad. I think you are underestimating what Marcel is going to do for this offense. Give it a chance. We have a terrible football team and Marcel Belfool is not going to change that.

Give it a chance. Have you seen Marcel's teams, the guy is no savior, far from it. All we did was hire another idiot to join the rest of the idiots.
iso_55 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 "I'm going to leave it up to them". "It's not my job"? "My expertise is on defense?" Wow, wow, wow, ******* wow.
SmokinBlue Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 Yeah, that idiot has been making this stupid comments ever since he's been hired, how he was not kicked to the curb in the offseason after making comments like that as a HC is beyond me.
