Rich Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 So Lawless just said on H & L that Burke wanted to trade for Glenn and they could have had him for a 2nd round pick in the off season, but Mack said no, that Buck was better.
Captain Blue Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 If true, Mack was ridiculously stupid. Not sure if I completely believe this though. Burke loves him some Buck.
sweep the leg Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 If true, Mack was ridiculously stupid. Not sure if I completely believe this though. Burke loves him some Buck. Assuming this story is true it appears that, no, he really didn't love Buck as much as some believe. On your other point, I agree it was a mistake to not make the deal.

On your other point, I agree it was a mistake to not make the deal. But Mack said he would fix the position, then didn't deal for a QB, and now that he's gone old #4 moves up the depth chart. It will be hard to convince me Burke doesn't love Buck. There are too many words and actions supporting otherwise. Blue-urns 1
17to85 Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 gonna need some proof of this. Burke did nothing but rave about how awesome Pierce was from the day he got the head job. Blue-urns 1
Mr. Perfect Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Really doubt Burke is going to bullshit given the way the man carries himself. He's honest to a fault.
JohnnyOnTheSpot Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 He said exactly what I would say if I was stuck with him too. I wish I had a nickle for every vote of confidence followed by a firing in sports. I do recall a heated argument between Mack/Burke over personnel at a practise last year so at least we can say they weren't in 100% agreement.
rebusrankin Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Sounds a litte questionable coming out now.
voodoochylde Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 If true, Mack was ridiculously stupid. Not sure if I completely believe this though. Burke loves him some Buck. Or, Burke being the good soldier, towed the company line. Jaxon 1
James Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 brutal, cuz I REALLY wanted Glenn this year.
sweep the leg Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Burke did nothing but rave about how awesome Pierce was from the day he got the head job. Except when he said Pierce probably wouldn't be on the team if he wasn't such a nice guy.
pigseye Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Burke would have received the same treatment that Baressi and Lapo got. Burke was actually smart to just bide his time and wait for a GM to come along who might actually listen to his HC.
bluto Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Or, Burke being the good soldier, towed the company line. that. he was saying all the good things about Mack's free agent (Buck Pierce) that he was told to. especially when his boss told him that there wouldn't be a QB riding in from out of town on a white horse, at that point, he may as well support his de facto #1.

Burke was waiting with baited breathe to get Pierce healthy last season, I just don't accept that he was full of **** when he talked about how much he liked Pierce because he's come across as a very straight shooter thus far.

Zontar Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Not buying this.Timing of this is way too neat and tidy a package to make people look bad.
Mr Dee Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 So, we're now supposed to believe everything Lawless floats out there? I don't know...each group has their own stance, but it seemed to me, Burke and Buck wanted Buck to succeed. Just now on the coach's show: "I'm always going to feel good about Joe" (there was no hint he was just saying that in the way he did) "Miller says he wants them to be a team" and they're all working together. They'll address things together with Marcel involved. Wade won't get involved in coaching. Burke thinks it's a positive thing. All assts. unanimously said Hall should start. "Goltz should look at it as I need to grow more.- Still has a chance to be a good QB." Tons of meetings already about moving forward. He sounded less stressed and more hopeful. Does not sound defeated.
17to85 Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 doesn't matter when it started. he towed the company line and paid lip service to the boss' QB. well it does matter because Glenn never would have been floated out there until the offseason. Remember when Pierce was first raving about PIerce (Crowton too) Glenn was the starting qb for the stamps who then took his team to the grey cup game. Lawless is a POS and has been smearing Mack every chance he gets, this just reeks of more of that.
Mr Dee Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Bob Irving just repeated after the coach's show, that Goltz was Mack's guy, which leaves by omission, that Buck was being backed by Burke. (how's that for alliteration?)
17to85 Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 If Mack really was the biggest Pierce booster then why was Pierce 3rd string until Mack was fired and now all of a sudden up to #2? I'd buy Goltz being Macks guy but not Pierce based on every single thing I've seen and heard from the bombers.

Burke liking Pierce compared to what we had at qb is very different from liking him over Kevin Glenn.
iso_55 Posted August 13, 2013 Report Posted August 13, 2013 brutal, cuz I REALLY wanted Glenn this year. Tells you how much confidence the Stamps had in Drew Tate, didn't it?
