iso_55 Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 I would like to see a former pro football person in there to give a little more credibility to a lot of issues as Commisioner but also has marketing & business connections as well.
Floyd Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Tom Higgins should be available in a couple weeks. FrostyWinnipeg 1
Tracker Posted August 20, 2014 Report Posted August 20, 2014 Cohon was a great Commissioner and we need to hope that his replacement will be at least as good. Thank you, Mr. Cohon for making the CFL the most stable and professional in decades.
iso_55 Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Who was the Commish when Ottawa Renegades died suddenly in 2006? Oh yeah, Tom Wright. What a useless turd he was. The perfect Yes Man for Braley. He went on holidays when the Renegades folded & bitched about it when he had to cancel his plans & come home.

SPuDS Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 I liked what cohon brought to the table as commish.. Sad to see him go but time waits for no man or some other cheesy quote..
Jpan85 Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Getting the deal he did with the players this time around with out a work stoppage. The owners should be forever greatful. SPuDS 1
Mr Dee Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 As a Commish, Cohon was a great PR man. The CFL Commissioner has to be able to operate separately from the Board of Governors & he doesn't. He has to have autonomy to make tough decisions but can't because of it. That's the reason his nick-name is semi-Cohon.
iso_55 Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 The Toronto situation is a problem. So, they need to find a guy who is well connected with the Toronto business community & also who can convince Braley to sell the Argos to MLSE & move them into BMO Field. Tracker and mfranc 2
mfranc Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 The Toronto situation is a problem. So, they need to find a guy who is well connected with the Toronto business community & also who can convince Braley to sell the Argos to MLSE & move them into BMO Field. Yes. The new Commissioner should be someone with strong ties in Southern Ontario and some charisma. IMO Commissioners don't need to have strong sporting backgrounds as long as they are long time fans/supporters and have good political and private sector connections.

Noeller Posted August 21, 2014 Report Posted August 21, 2014 Phil Kitchen @CFL_historical 1m Cohon to MLSE - Argos to MLSE - Argos to BMOfield makes sense to me! #CFL Not sure if this has any legs, but it reeks of an all-around good idea... Tracker 1
gbill2004 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Report Posted August 21, 2014 Cohon to replace Liewikie makes a lot of sense. Liewikie announced he's leaving MLSE in June 2015.

Guest Posted August 22, 2014 Report Posted August 22, 2014 Chris Schultz as the new Commissioner! Only kidding. My Top two choices would be Jim Little or Keith Pelley, but I highly doubt the league could afford either one of them.

I guess that rules out Mean Mr. Harper for the position. He may be looking for a new job in the near future and he appears to be a football fan.
