TBieber Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Signed to the Ottawa Redblacks practice roster.
Floyd Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Signed to RedBlacks practice roster... only a matter of time before he's the starter!
Fatty Liver Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Signed to the Ottawa Redblacks practice roster. Max Hall must be turning down CFL job offers.
Floyd Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Signed to the Ottawa Redblacks practice roster. Max Hall must be turning down CFL job offers. Still trying to dial the phone with his noodle arm.
Blueandgold Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 I was just thinking last night that I can't fathom Brink still being employed while Elliot isn't. Maybe we'll see him start a few games this year.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Good for Joe but Burris is #1, 2, 3 there.
Mr Dee Posted September 1, 2014 Report Posted September 1, 2014 Signed to RedBlacks practice roster... only a matter of time before he's the starter! Look for two POTW awards to be taken up up by Joey! FrostyWinnipeg 1
mfranc Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Quite pathetic. You think Desjardins would be able to find a younger more promising QB to put on his Practice Roster but apparently this isn't the case.
TBieber Posted September 2, 2014 Author Report Posted September 2, 2014 Likely wanted to have another CFL experienced guy in case Burris gets injured. With DeMarco out for the year they didn't have that anymore. DR. CFL 1
Nasty Nate Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 They must know Joey is moody and somewhat egomaniacal - a perfect fit to work behind Burris!
17to85 Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Quite pathetic. You think Desjardins would be able to find a younger more promising QB to put on his Practice Roster but apparently this isn't the case. This isn't a development move, this is about getting someone with some experience as your backup since your actual backup is on the IR for the season. Surprised he went with Elliott over Hall since Hall more recently had played but you had to think a move like this was coming.
TBURGESS Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Ottawa needed some CFL experience at backup QB. Personally, I think Elliott's better than Hall. FrostyWinnipeg 1
17to85 Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 I think he's better too, but Hall at least got some starts last year and went through training camp with the Bombers. Did Elliott even get to a training camp this year?

DR. CFL Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Those critical of this move should ask themselves, what does Winnipeg do if Willy goes down for the remainder if the season?
Guest Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Those critical of this move should ask themselves, what does Winnipeg do if Willy goes down for the remainder if the season? Start Brohm or Marve ? Personally I think this is a lazy move by Ottawa (O'Brien and Carder could use some reps, you know to actually develop). One of my only issues with the CFL for years has been how some players only stick around due to their experience within the league.

Ottawa has to get some victories on the chart or the fan-base will turn off. DR. CFL 1
DR. CFL Posted September 2, 2014 Report Posted September 2, 2014 Players like Banks and Kuale ? Most HCs want the sense of comfort and security afforded by experiences players especially at the QB spot. It doesn't always work out but it seems to be the most common practice

Therein lies the issue for me. Players like Banks and Kuale ? Most HCs want the sense of comfort and security afforded by experiences players especially at the QB spot. One of my only issues with the CFL for years has been how some players only stick around due to their experience within the league. There have been a whole pile of qbs who were thrown into the fire too early and been ruined as prospects because of it. Not everyone is a Ricky Ray who can come in immediately and start. Most of them need time to learn before they're ready to take over.
