Mike Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Each city picks a columnist to do their midseason all-star team. Full article is here: http://cfl.ca/article/mid-season-all-stars-cfl-writers-make-their-picks I'll recap the Bombers Jim Morris - Grigsby, Denmark, Moore, Leggett (as a DB, not a safety lol) and Hajrullahu Dave Campbell - Grigsby and Denmark Mark Stephen - Grigsby, Denmark, Turner, Wild and Leggett (as a safety) Jamie Nye - Grigsby, Denmark and Wild Bob Irving - Grigsby, Denmark, Greaves and Wild Justin Dunk - Grigsby, Denmark and Randle Don Landry - Grigsby, Denmark, Morley, Wild and Hajrullahu Don Campbell - Grigsby, Denmark, Leggett (again as a DB) and Hajrullahu Grigsby and Denmark go 8 for 8 Wild goes 4 for 8 Leggett and Hajrullahu go 3 for 8 Turner, Greaves, Randle, Morley and Moore go 1 for 8 robynxm4 1
Mr Dee Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Denmark is an apt pick and is deserving. Hajrullahu is a good one. Wild has to be in there. Leggett - ggoodd. Randle - only one mention? Not sure why Grigsby is 8 for 8 on picks or is that his average carries and yards gained per game?
Floyd Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Grigsby... wow. Even with the injuries, it has to be Cornish and Harris. Everyone loves Bo Levi. Surprised Randle didn't get more votes.
Bigblue204 Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 why is everyone surprised by Grisgby? He's done very well considering what has been asked of him. Cornish????? He's played what 3 games now. why should he be picked? I'm also surprised by no one picking Randle or Johnson and how anyone beat Hajrullahu is beyond me.

Surprised Randle didn't get more votes. How do you figure it has to be Cornish? You mean Jon Cornish, the guy who is 12th in the league in rushing?

Our rookie kicker is having a heck of a year and has the field to himself when he performs, but Randle is one of a crowd and gets noticed only when he screws up. He has been more effective than Leggett or Johnson but he's not going to beat out Lirim.

How do you figure it has to be Cornish? You mean Jon Cornish, the guy who is 12th in the league in rushing? Well, three games probably isn't enough... but I figured it was too early to pick John White... But an all-star with under 5 yard average... sad state of affairs.

As much as I find Grigsby underwhelming sometimes ... he leads the entire CFL in yards from scrimmage. If the season ended today, he'd be a unanimous all star selection. LeBird and Bigblue204 2
Goalie Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Grigsby hasn't fumbled the ball once either, pretty impressive stat. Give grigsby an Oline and i think you see good things. Bigblue204 and LeBird 2
iso_55 Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Grigsby... wow. Even with the injuries, it has to be Cornish and Harris. Everyone loves Bo Levi. Surprised Randle didn't get more votes. Cornish played 3 games... he has 311 yards rushing. One monster game, yes. But a mid season all star after missing 6 games, no. Harris injured as well.

Will Ford was an all star, too.
SPuDS Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Randle one nod? Lol. Leggett not enough love either but hajrullahu got jobbed with only 3..
Goalie Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Gonna say it, may not be popular but #randleisland has been invaded more than once this season for sure. Leggett is definitely not getting much love, dude is a beast out there. Agree that Lirim is being jobbed, has 2 misses all year and both have hit the goal post.
voodoochylde Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Yeah .. Little surprised that Leggett hasn't gotten more love .. He's been great at safety this season ..
Goalie Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Also agree with the earlier comment about Johnson being jobbed a bit too, He's been pretty darn shut down back there. If i were to rank the DB's right now, Johnson may be ahead of Randle as he is a CFL rookie playing a spot that CFL rookies normally don't play.
Mike Posted September 4, 2014 Author Report Posted September 4, 2014 Bruce Johnson has been money but he's not all-star caliber yet.
Goalie Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Interesting to see some of the other choices... McCallum seems to get the NOD from most of them for the kicker spot. Guess that's just based on ??reputation?? Never mind, according to the bc lions stats section on their website, McCallum is 24/25. Only missed one all year.
mbrg Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 Grigsby hasn't always been an effective runner for the Bombers but he has almost always been an effective weapon. As a receiver he does a great job of finding open spaces on the field that lead to big gains. I paid more attention to his blocking watching the LDC and I found no reason to complain about the job he did. Most of his pickups were correct and well executed.

I was watching his block pickups also, and was pleasantly surprised. That, and his yards from scrimmage, is the reason Grigsby is becoming more valuable.
17to85 Posted September 4, 2014 Report Posted September 4, 2014 As soon as he starts to man up and run hard he'll be a fine running back, but as long as he keeps being tentative and run east/west too much I will be hard on him. Did you all see the way Volny ran? Just straight up the middle for positive yards. More of that is needed from Grigsby because unlike Volny he can actually hang onto the ball and not fumble it.
Jpan85 Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 It's tough to get noticed when you get 1-3 balls thrown at you a game. #RandleIsland
JuranBoldenRules Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Grigsby better hope all the good backs are injured in the 2nd half of this season too.
Arnold_Palmer Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 On reputation alone i'm surprised there's no love for January. I mean I agree he's about as mediocre as they come but that hasn't stopped him from a few all star selections in the past.

TBieber Posted September 5, 2014 Report Posted September 5, 2014 Obvious bias between the writers shows through. Who is Jamie Nye trying to fool, saying Rod Williams is an all-star corner.
