AtlanticRiderFan Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 Who do you cheer for? I am an Oilers and Penguins fan. Yup. Oilers fan. Part of the reason why I ended up here. I was looking for KtpKrunch who is a Bomber fan and ended up here.
17to85 Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 How does someone your age become an Oilers fan? Is it purely because of Eberle and rah rah Regina? Cause even 2006 you'd have been just a wee little tyke and that team was all downhill from there.
MOBomberFan Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 After the Jets left I became an Ottawa fan. In my defense, I was young and stupid, and the black jerseys spoke to my budding teenage angst. At least I had one 'good' season of fandom when the Sens and Bombers both went to the Cup in '07. Sadly, neither team could make it happen in the end. My personal championship drought continues... SPuDS 1
Goalie Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 I've always been a fan of the Red Wings and Blackhawks, Also really like the Sharks back in the day. I'm Latvian and The Sharks had a goalie by the name of Arturs Irbe, I got to meet him when i was very young when he played in Winnipeg through some of the Latvian folks in the city. Was cool. Got a picture, I am probably 5 or 6 maybe 7 years old with him. LOL

And no, it has NOTHING to do with Saskatchewan.
SPuDS Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Mo: me too bro.. Dunno why but I fell in love with the Sens when the jets folded too... Still cheer for em whenever the jets ain't playing lol MOBomberFan 1
FrostyWinnipeg Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Think most Sask fans follow Edmonton don't they?

No, I hate them. born in Kindersley maybe but he always said he was from Red Deer, plus he was an Oiler before he was a Flame so I don't know what that has to do with anything. Fact is there are a lot of gappers who love Eberle and the Oilers because of it. I understand when you say you're a penguins fan, tons of kids are because Crosby, but the Oilers have sucked for a long time it's puzzling when kids pick them up unless there's some other connection.

iso_55 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 When the Jets moved to Phoenix after the 1996 season, I stopped following the NHL. I was very bitter & I don't think in 15 years I sat down & watched an entire game, regular season or playoffs once in that time on television. I just couldn't become a Flames fan even though I lived here. For the most part the team sucked anyway so it was easy not to like them. It's the Winnipeg Jets for me or nothing. I'm back to watching the NHL again. Before the Jets went into the NHL with the merger with the WHA in 1979, I did cheer for the Canadiens & Bruins. They were my favourite NHL teams back in the day. Now I don't care about them. I can't stand PK Suban. However, if there was a team I'd now cheer distantly second for behind the Jets that would be the Blackhawks.

ediger Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 so the Regina bandwagon jumping has been going on that long, eh?
iso_55 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 How can someone in Regina or Saskatchewan be an NHL bandwagon jumper when that province doesn't have a team? AtlanticRiderFan 1
AtlanticRiderFan Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 so the Regina bandwagon jumping has been going on that long, eh? >insinuating that someone who has been a fan for over 30 years is a bandwagon jumper.
17to85 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 You missed the point. Point is that the bandwagon was jumped on during the Oilers dynasty days.
iso_55 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I have always hated the Oilers & always will. Living in Calgary & Winnipeg does that to a person. Those guys like Hall, Eberle & Nugent-Hopkins better start winning some games. FrostyWinnipeg 1
Goalie Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Hawks Wings and Sharks for sure but... I'd be kidding myself if i said I didn't cheer for the Canadian teams to win when the Jets were gone. Seriously, I could watch any Canadian team play except the Leafs, Cant' stand them, Can't stand the CBC homer announcing for them, Just hated the leafs and still do. Honestly, they are the only Canadian team i would cheer against if they were playing an American team in the Stanley Cup Final.
AtlanticRiderFan Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 You missed the point. Point is that the bandwagon was jumped on during the Oilers dynasty days. Dad never cheered for any other teams. Kind of ridiculous to say that he bandwagoned.

If not, you should and pay attention to Sheldon, Mr 17 to 85 pretty much plays that role on here perfectly.

17to85 Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 the bandwagon comment was clearly a joke, and you reacted as if it were a serious comment. Not the first time you've done that either. I saw you bitching earlier in the year on rider fans about all the tongue in cheek comments about the rider fans not selling out game one, those comments were not supposed to be taken seriously either.

If Duressler is only 14 & not 41 then maybe he needs to learn not to be so serious as well. It's an acquired thing. I've lost my mind here on a few occasions myself & I've been around these forums since 2000.

Your post to me sounded serious. If it was supposed to be joke, then you didn't make it sound like one. 2. Please link to when I did this on riderfans. I don't remember doing that. iso_55 1
