johnzo Posted June 2, 2017 Report Posted June 2, 2017 Got on an XTC kick tonight. And speaking of rock covers by Canadian ladies, I just dicovered that Sarah McLaughlin covered Dear God. She really tears into the third verse. I bet this would cook live.
JCon Posted June 2, 2017 Report Posted June 2, 2017 With the passing of Gregg Allman, I have been listening to At Fillmore East over the past week. Some say it's the best live album ever. I'm not sure I agree but that version of Whipping Post is awesome. Gregg's autobiography was very good too: My Cross To Bear. Noeller 1
Wideleft Posted June 2, 2017 Report Posted June 2, 2017 Such an amazing guitarist, singer and songwriter. Noeller and Mark F 2

Jpan85 Posted June 7, 2017 Report Posted June 7, 2017 Had not listen to any Fozzy until recently but they are really good especially their newest song Judas. SPuDS 1
johnzo Posted June 9, 2017 Report Posted June 9, 2017 so I mostly like aggressive music but recently my mom has fallen for Elton John's greatest hits. She lives alone back in t-bay and she's got some cognitive stuff going on so anything she gets enthusiastic about I want to support. She gifted me an EJ CD and we are listening and swapping emails about the tunes. The songs are decent ... Sir Elton knows his **** ... but I think my favorite part of his act is the old costumes. Damn, that man could peacock better than anyone. Every one of these outfits is a gem. https://www.buzzfeed.com/kimberleydadds/the-most-flamboyant-elton-john-stage-costumes-possibly-ever?utm_term=.wy9mylMLLE#.baG1n6AVVO
Mark F Posted June 9, 2017 Report Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) Quote One of those thousands of great acts no one's heard of. re cactus blossoms, I've heard them. I read the website http://www.savingcountrymusic.com/.... He reviewed them. It's a great site for finding new music. first heard of Lillie Mae at that site. johnzo Posted June 17, 2017 Report Posted June 17, 2017 (edited) These guys basically violate a bunch of classic pop songs / showtunes. Leaving on A Jet Plane, Don't Cry For Me Argentina, Seasons In The Sun, Science Fiction Double Feature, etc. Their cover of Rocket Man really cooks. Edited June 17, 2017 by johnzo Atomic 1
FrostyWinnipeg Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 (edited) TSN1290 has completed their casting change because of the Lawless departure. MOBomberFan Posted July 30, 2017 Report Posted July 30, 2017 Been on a July Talk kick lately. I love both their voices. The guy sounds like heavier gravelly Tom Waits/Leonard Cohen type.

Never heard of the tune, so I tracked it down. Wow, Burton Cummings was a bitter man back in 1970. Wikipedia says the song was about Bowie. Speaking of Bowie, here's Motörhead covering one of his big hits: Motörhead is releasing a whole record of covers in the fall. Will have tunes from the Sex Pistols, the Stones, Priest, Twisted Sister, etc. No Guess Who tho. Edited August 6, 2017 by johnzo
Brandon Blue&Gold Posted August 7, 2017 Report Posted August 7, 2017 Pirate metal! Sure it's only these guys and maybe two other bands but fun nonetheless.
johnzo Posted August 13, 2017 Report Posted August 13, 2017 Tonight my neighbours are listening to these beauties: I've been playing electronic drums in my living room, but no more. Got a nice little club kit that's perfect living room volume when I play it with rod sticks. Would have liked royal blue better but alas, it's not a popular color for drums... Mark F 1
