do or die Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Really needed a quick start....in this one........instead...yup, 2 and outs,Cotton then fumbles right after Esks TD....10-00 first downs in first quarter...several Esks drives kept alive by Bomber penalties....Down 14-0....West forces fumble....But Willy stripped, ball loose, Kolhert whiffs on tackle....TD10-14 point swing was the tipping point......21-0 and the Bombers lost altitude pretty fast... from that pointPressure D package....just not getting the pressure........leaving Bombers DB's high and dry ....for PI calls....Bomber front 7 pushed around on couple of goal line plays....Without the Stod....kick return game is back to useless....Dumb major penalties still with us....Different running back.....but unfortunately, the same ole OL....No moving pocket, no run game, turnovers..........Willy getting killed, yet again........and looking un confident, and beaten down.....27 yards by O....37- 0 at the half......as "must win game "...turned into a "no show up game"Lirim H.....Bomber special team and offensive star, today........scored all our points...many good punts....Watson missing blocks, looks like he is eternally hurt....Bombers actually out score Esks in 2nd half......but Bomber goose was already well cooked.....Turkey cooking slowly....clock moving even more slowly...Our OC/DC got worked...again....Brohm got some extended play time....whole half of garbage time..Some good throws, some bad, some hits taken, couple turnovers..Final play: Brohm serves up Romby, on platter....for huge hit....total lack of execution and ineptitude from start to finish.....MOS lineup changes.....ended up looked like mere deck chair shuffling....6 straight losses, last 2 of expansion team quality......2 straight games curled up in the fetal position.....Time to review DOD's ole pregame Bomber keys to victory:Fast start..... 0 points, 2 first downs at halftimeProtect the QB.....uh, nahEstablish the run.....nopeRush on Reilly......huh, what?Avoid penalties.....15 takenAvoid turnovers......yeah, sureMOS finally lost that toothpaste grin.......which comes as some form of relief........as many Bomber fans have finally lost hope...Won't watch the Walking Dead, tonight........just seen enough for today.... Piggy 1 and Mark F 2
Mark H. Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 How is it even possible...to blitz for more than half the game and generate hardly any pressure? The front 7 and OL looked dead out there today. Props to the secondary for giving a good effort. DR. CFL 1
iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Good one. Yeah, I noticed the grin was gone on the sidelines too. Maybe MOS is finally wising up instead of being a wise guy.
Tracker Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Wild looked like he hasn't lost a beat- one of two in the front seven worth keeping, but Leggett was invisible for the most part and so was Kromah. I can't imagine the O-line being worse for putting Hinse, Swystun and/or Goossen in. Cotton ran with some determination and was certainly no worse than Grigsby, although the run blocking was pretty much as pathetic. Willy needs to sit out- he looks shell-shocked and he must be afraid to wake up in the mornings. It was garbage time, but Brohm looked decent. The D-line was, well, the D-line- same old, same old with Peach, a journeyman player looking the best of the sad lot. Why did we bring Vega back? Anyone? Thought so. The real concern is whether Etcheverry is worth keeping and if Bellefeuille could do better with better talent.
iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 I just want to win Now that is a complicated statement & one worth studying further. Mark F 1
Mark H. Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Willy needs to sit out- he looks shell-shocked and he must be afraid to wake up in the mornings. Willy said publicly last week that 'he couldn't take anymore hits.'
Tracker Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 If O'Shea has a shred of compassion or intelligence, Willy's season is over. KptKrunch 1
iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 It's shameful that it's taking years to rebuild the OL. KptKrunch 1
iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 If O'Shea has a shred of compassion or intelligence, Willy's season is over. Not happening. He's paid to play & not sit out.

DR. CFL Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Why get him killed in games that are now meaningless
Old Bomber Fan Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 same old story - receivers standing still catching passes rather than on the move. Willy holding onto ball too long hence receiver standing waiting for ball. No running game. No screens, no flairs - poor offensive game plan. Lost possession battle yet again but this time by a huge margin in first quarter alone. Poor O line. D line no pressure - trick formations not tricky anymore - opposition teeing off with the run we have no answer for it. Tackling improved slightly but still much work needed. Penalties killing us as usual. Beginning of the year we were good - then came game 7 and I think since then we lead the league in penalties per game yet MOS will insist we aren't that bad. No discipline self motivated or otherwise. Coaches should look in the mirror as well as the players. Much rebuilding needed to be successful however we have won 3 more games than last year. Whoopee! firekid23 and iso_55 2
Tracker Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Listened to the post-game interview of O'Shea on CJOB. O'Shea was trying very hard to be upbeat but sounded defeated- much like LaPolice and Burke when things were becoming dire and they realized that there was to be no quick fix and they were going to be hanged. I'm sure that it is not coming to that for O'Shea, but it think he has realized that enthusiasm can substitute for talent and effort for only so long. O'Shea is looking at ending the season with another three losses and one win in three months. Not a good thing to carry over the next 8 months.
iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Silver Lining: We could get the second pick in the CFL Draft next April... Dark Cloud: We never pick the right player.
Tracker Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Maybe we could trade Tyson Pencer to move up one spot.

iso_55 Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 I find it hard to believe that Willy would say that.

That's good evidence that Willy's self-preservation instinct is still functioning. Good for him- he wasn't expecting to be the human tackling dummy.
Mark H. Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 I find it hard to believe that Willy would say that. That's cool, you don't have to believe it. He also said he agrees with January, that the protections needs to be better.
pigseye Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 The penalties are something I would expect to see at a junior game, just awful, I can't believe a HC just turns his back on them.
blueandgoldguy Posted October 14, 2014 Report Posted October 14, 2014 Silver Lining: We could get the second pick in the CFL Draft next April... Dark Cloud: We never pick the right player. 2nd Dark Cloud - it's the CFL Draft. Very few players ever make a huge impact, let alone a significant one in their first year. The CFl Draft is nothing like the NHL, NBA, NFL or even the MLB Draft.

The CFl Draft is nothing like the NHL, NBA, NFL or even the MLB Draft. Tell that to the Stampeders who made one bad choice in years. Drafted Ameet Pall in 2012. Other than that their picks have consistently been very good. So how come they can do it?
