USABomberfan Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Yup, this coming from a guy who normally has been off of Bellefeuille's jock, but this one is on both him and his QB. I really don't know what Willy was doing in that 2nd half, but there is absolutely no way you can tell me with all that time he had in that pocket that he did not have options he was ignoring. I'm gonna say it for real, he was getting greedy and believed he needed to hit nothing but deep shots in that 2nd half, just no other way around it. He could've easily gotten rid of that ball and completed more passes, his last TD drive once he realized we were in trouble he did, so there is no reason he is not at fault for this loss. Bellefeuille, I don't know what you're doing not giving Cotton his carries in that 2nd half. If that D doesn't show they can stop your running game, you stick with it and make them have to hone in on Cotton. They did not and you had no reason to go away from him. I hate to say it, but I'm beginning to turn on MB, way too many opportunities were there that were blown. We can learn from them, but this cannot continually be repeated. I'm not gonna say bench Willy just yet, but he has gotta be more smarter than that. I say stick with him, but if he doesn't improve, move the leash in tighter.

KptKrunch Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 No reason to start Willy next week. As far as I'm concerned he lost the #1 job tonight. We should at least see what Marve can do, and put Portis in for a bit, see what he can do too. We've seen what Willy can do - he needs to re-boot and get ready for next year.

Willy had time to throw but didn't pull the trigger. He could have made something happen by scrambling but just sat back and waited for the rush to get to him. Cotton should have received more carries but who knows why he didn't.
SmokinBlue Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 I agree, Wily was freaking terrible and should be ashamed with himself. 11 sacks 80% of which were his own fault. Quite frankly, anybody who disagreed and was standing in front of me tonight, I may be drunk but i know what I know and I'd punch him in the face for outright stupidity. Seriously, some plays Willy had all bloody day but he'd then pull down the ball and run right into a BC defender for no bloody reason. Soo freaking aggravating it's ridiculous.

SPuDS Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Wow. You threaten to punch someone in the and then tell me to think before I "speak" How about you sober up keyboard warrior before you tell anyone to read before they speak.. Otherwise known as post or type..
SmokinBlue Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Yeah you're still not thinking before speaking. Sad.

Willy had all kinds of time to throw, he had receivers open. It was hilarious, on the telecast, Suitor tried to make a point that all the receivers were covered. The 'short' receiver was about 6 yards underneath the coverage, but of course Suits was on a roll so he said he was 'covered'. About 10 minutes of game time after that, Beck got the snap, turned, and fired a dart to Gore I believe it was, who was 'wide open' just like the bomber receiver was above, only the bomber defender was about 3 yards off him. It's amazing all the apologists there are for Drew 'freakin' Willy. At least more fans are finally starting to see what I've been seeing since mid-August. He hasn't nearly been good enough, and tonight was his worst start yet (but low an behold he finally threw another TD pass). But yeah, I get his frustration.

You would have to be a compete moron not to be.. There is simply a right way to vent or express it and a wrong way... But yea, willy and bellfool are both wearing the goat horns on this debacle.. Willy for not just throwing the damn ball into the stands or to check down and marcel for not shortening up the game plan to get the ball out of willys hands quicker..
SmokinBlue Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Just cause he was "second in the league in passing"", because our coach was too stupid to cut a terrible running back and our offensive coordinator is too stupid to run the ball' He gets all kinds of slack he's not even remotely close to deserving, very infuriating. He's a freaking rookie QB who is not playing nearly good enough football, but instead of putting blame where it lies we blame everybody else in fear of hurting our rookie QBs feelings. Outright stupidity. Oh and I classify a rookie QB as somebody who is having his first year as a QB with the majority of the starts.

I don't think he meant what he said 'literally'. We're all frustrated. Hey, I was taken in by Willy too in the beginning. It was so nice to see a QB come into town and actually look like a QB for once. I really hope this season is a 'learning' one for him and he comes back next year as good as he started the year at and then some. I really hope he can take the next step. I just hope the Bombers prepare and start Marve next week because if Drew picks up from where he left off this season next year, he won't be the starter here come August first and I hope we know whether or not Marve could be. He's shown more promise to me in preseason and his very limited time in regular season play then I can recall ever seeing in a Wpg BB recruited QB. Even McManus never looked that good (he threw laser beams when he came into games, but never to his guys lol).
SPuDS Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 How can you say "hes a rookie starting QB" and then heap blame on him like hes a vet making rookie mistakes? Hes only going to get better.. He is and has been surrounded by garbage almost all season... These are the reasons people cut him some slack... Not to protect his feelings, lol
SmokinBlue Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 More defending when he doesn't deserve being defending. Get freaking real already!
iso_55 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 I don't get this "holding onto the football too long because he's getting beat up" routine. It makes absolutely no sense. If that was me or anybody else, They'd be throwing the football on the first step of a 3 step drop. Or 3rd on a 5 to get rid of the ball faster just so as not to get hit anymore. They wouldn't be holding onto the football. Why would Willy hold onto the football so long? To get beat up even more?? Hardly. If qbs are under duress they don't hold onto the football even longer to get hit even more. Truth was his receivers weren't getting open or weren't getting to where they should be. This isn't on Willy, it was the BC Lions linebackers & defensive backfield taking away our passing game. We never adjusted underneath to get rid of the football faster as the game went on. Where were the quick passes??? It was all intermediate 15-25 yard routes that MB was calling. He did little to help his qb.That's on Bellefeuille not Willy. DanoT and TBURGESS 2

They're basically the same QB's with poor mobility but Brohm manages to make his reads that much quicker and gets rid of the ball even with the same weak O-line. After watching him for a full season I suspect Willy, like many first year QB's does not see the field that well. JohnnyOnTheSpot and KptKrunch 2

Ok iso - can you try to explain the last play then please? It was a hail mary if you recall, or at least, it should have been. Now, I was watching on TV, I wasn't at the game, so it is possible (but highly improbable) that all his receivers were tackled at the line of scrimmage. A Hail Mary is the easist throw in football to make. The QB stands back, counts to 3 or 4 than throws to a pre-determined spot and hope for one of two things - a Miracle Catch or a PI call. He stood there for about 4 second, then ran laterally to his left which means he can't throw, then he gets sacked. You can't defend that play iso, it's undefendable. All Willy had to do was throw the ball, and he didn't. That's on him 100%, and there were other times he receivers were open, He can't see them iso - Marve and Brohm play with the same players - they had no issues did they?
iso_55 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Maybe if you live in dream land, or lala land, or whacky tabbacky land, or I think with emotion, not with common sense land. LOL! Common sense, c'mon. Ha, ha.
SmokinBlue Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Anybody who defends his play last night is an apologist and not thinking with their brain, just with their Willy love and their pre determined hate for our oline.
coach17 Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 Just don't know about Willy's vision and decision making. Think the OC is doing the thinking for him and not putting him in good situations. Opposing D's have figured this out. Willy needs to be more of his own man to be successful , don't know yet if he's capable. MB knows offences and schemes better than most but doesn't let the QB think enough and this gets in the way when opposition figures it out as everyone had since about game 7.
RagingIce Posted October 26, 2014 Report Posted October 26, 2014 As someone who was at the game. Willy was to blame for probably two thirds of the sacks, but on the last play he didn't have enough time for the receivers to get downfield. BC rushed 4, so it's inexcusable that they forced him out of the pocket so fast.
