blitzmore Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 THIS JUST IN: The @REDBLACKS have parted ways with offensive coordinator Mike Gibson. Details to come. #CFL
Logan007 Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 You beat me to it. Well it's not like we didn't see that coming. Although I figured Campbell would be on the chopping block too. Might give him another year to turn it around.
Mike Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 No way can you fire a head coach in his first year with an expansion team. Awful, awful decision if they go that route. Blue-urns, rebusrankin and DR. CFL 3
voodoochylde Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 No way can you fire a head coach in his first year with an expansion team. Awful, awful decision if they go that route. Which is why I find it absolutely laughable that people might suggest O'Shea's job might have been in jeopardy as well .. A coach needs more than one year to put his stamp on a team .. unless you completely poop the bed right out of the gate .. one (or less than one) and done is setting yourself up to become a circus. Goalie, rebusrankin, BBlink and 5 others 8
IC Khari Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Weren't we all up in arms with Gibson as OC back in 06 when Doug Berry was here?
Jpan85 Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Paid the price for a quarterback who could not hit the broad side of a barn and a receiver core that could not catch all year. pigseye, blitzmore and Blue-urns 3
Bomber_fanaddict Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I know they went 2-16 but would the Bombers have any interest in him still?
Goalie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Interesting, sacrificial lamb for a team who had no receivers and for a team who over paid for a QB that is somewhat on the decline. Bomber Interest? I'd suspect slim to none.
NotoriousBIG Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 He isn't Cortez but I think he'd be step up over Bellfool .
TrueBlue Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I know they went 2-16 but would the Bombers have any interest in him still? Oranges and apples are both round fruit. One's just orange and the other is red.
Goalie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 I dunno why but i do get the feeling that Howell will eventually be our OC. Some may not like him but it seems like he has the respect of the players, is a former player himself, has done his time, perhaps a little too green right now but... in a year or so, i could see him being the OC. I think MB stays for some reason.

Goalie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 He's been with the team a few years now, How do we really know what he could bring, Can't keep recycling the same old names over and over and over, eventually gotta give someone new a chance to show what they can do. I'm not saying name Howell OC now but in a year or so, I wouldn't be shocked if he's a strong candidate.
DR. CFL Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Gibson was in over his head......same as when he was OC here. Nice guy....but but but
Goalie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Gibson wasn't give the best cast of characters to work with either, whats that old saying? can't make chicken salad out of chicken crap?
Mark F Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Paid the price for a quarterback who could not hit the broad side of a barn and a receiver core that could not catch all year. can't fire the receivers and quarterback and entire oline, so fire the coach. pigseye 1
M.O.A.B. Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 how 'bout ... Dyce as Passing Game Coordinator Gibson as Running Game Coordinator instead of keeping Bellefuile
Atomic Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Gibson was horrible for Ottawa. He was only hired because there was literally no one else with any experience available. Bringing him here would be a disaster. No no no no no. Bellefeuille is a genius in comparison. pigseye 1
17to85 Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 So let's see... qb that played poorly, receivers that had a bad case of the dropsies, using chevon walker most of the year at rb and they fire the coach cause the offense wasn't good enough? Can't fire the GM first I guess, so the OC makes a good sacrificial lamb. Blue-urns 1
Goalie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Gibson might be an interesting option as OL Coach if Wylie isn't back.
iso_55 Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 No comment about our "organizational review" & how long it's taking...
SPuDS Posted November 13, 2014 Report Posted November 13, 2014 No comment about our "organizational review" & how long it's taking... Because Ottawa jumped the gun and axes someone asap? Come on Iso, you're better then this..

Come on Iso, you're better then this.. Hey SPuDs, I guess I want to see some changes & not the status quo. I really do believe changing the coordinators needs to be done. I'm actually concerned it will be status quo coordinators wise going into training camp. What's your thoughts?

I'm actually concerned it will be status quo coordinators wise going into training camp. What's your thoughts? My thoughts are that this happens every year. Every time another team makes a move, you use it as an opportunity to complain that the Bombers are not. How about we just discuss the move Ottawa made instead of using it to take potshots at our management? Noeller and Bigblue204 2
