johnzo Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 wasn't that one of Glenns first times back in Winnipeg? Glenn probably encouraged that cause he's always got a chip on his shoulder over nonsense things. Yeah, that was the last game of 2009, the year after Kelly cut Glenn. We would've made the playoffs if we won. Turned out to be Mike Kelly's final game.
Tracker Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 As much as most here would love to see Edmonton get schooled, it would still be nice to see another competitive game today. The Monreal-Hamilton game was actually fun to watch but Edmonton is still going to be scrooged, though.
Blueandgold Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 Not saying Willy is as good as Mitchell just saying Mitchell could look pretty ordinary on any other team. The kid is only what 23 or so? If he spends his entire career in the CFL he'll go down as one of the greatest of all time.
TBURGESS Posted November 23, 2014 Report Posted November 23, 2014 I'd take Mitchell over Willy every day of the week. Better QB all round. FrostyWinnipeg 1

Blueandgold Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 I'd take Mitchell over Willy every day of the week. Better QB all round. Yup. If I were starting a franchise and was allowed to take one player from any team it would be BLM. FrostyWinnipeg 1

Tracker Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 If I were Huffer, I would be looking at giving Tate some playing time soon to tune him up and maybe even showcase him a bit for a possible off-season trade.
17to85 Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 That's a tough argument to make. BLM is just one of the good young qbs in the league (Willy is one of them too) the big difference is that BLM is in a GREAT position. He's got a deep team with a deep coaching staff that is great at putting people in positions to have success. Yeah he's taking that opportunity and running with it, but he's getting a lot of help too. Tracker and iso_55 2
iso_55 Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 So Jones blows up Reilly today. He can't even walk.

iso_55 Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 Hugh Freaking O'Neill. Lives in homeless shelters in Edmonton. Plays football as he gets three squares a day & gets de liced.
Blueandgold Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 So Jones blows up Reilly today. He can't even walk. It's obvious that Reilly wasn't going to have a long term CFL career, but Jones is doing everything he can to expedite that process.

Jones knew how bad Reilly was hurt on the sidelines today & he put his ego ahead of his player's safety. He never said told him, "Nice job but no more today".

It's obvious that Reilly wasn't going to have a long term CFL career, but Jones is doing everything he can to expedite that process. Which brings the pocket passers vs. scramblers debate to mind... The best is the intelligent use of a QB scramble who has the pass as the usual first option, but can roll out with the option to pass or run a few times during the game. It seems to me that QBs who see themselves running as at least an equal option every play get beat up real fast.
JuranBoldenRules Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 Saskatchewan really should have knocked out Edmonton last week, but Chamblin won the stubbornness staredown and left Joseph in for 5 picks before he put in a QB that at least had a hope of moving the ball.

It seems to me that QBs who see themselves running as at least an equal option every play get beat up real fast. Reilly is particularly risky with the dives for extra yards, especially when he's diving and going to get hit. He can do a lot of running and scrambling without putting his body at risk as he does. Running backs don't toss themselves out prone like that, I'm not sure why some QB's think it's a good idea.
Tracker Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 If Edmonton had any fantasies about competing in this game, they can put them to rest now.
JuranBoldenRules Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 We beat both Grey Cup teams...ON THE ROAD!

Blueandgold Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 We beat both Grey Cup teams...ON THE ROAD! Ah, the good olds days of summer.... We beat the homeless 1-7 Ticats with LeFevour at the helm. They were just a tad different than the team playing next week. But beating Calgary with Marve was awesome.
iso_55 Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 Cornish with a verbal shot at Reilly. He said yesterday at the press conference that he didn't believe in destiny.
Mark F Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 and edmonton thrashed us, to start the slide.
