gbill2004 Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 @ArashMadani: Per #CFL sources: George Cortez will not return as the #Riders offensive coordinator next season.
gbill2004 Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 Bye-bye Marcel. Hello George! Blue-urns, basslicker and johnzo 3
Mr. Perfect Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Should have been hired the instant after Madani tweeted it. Get'er done O'Shea. Blue-urns 1
gbill2004 Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 He will get lots of interest. BC will likely have interest. Same with Ottawa.
rebusrankin Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Show him the money and get er done.
TBURGESS Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Sign Cortez in immediately if not sooner!
gbill2004 Posted November 29, 2014 Author Report Posted November 29, 2014 Would be a nice fit with Willy and Cortez already working together in Sask.
NotoriousBIG Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 And now reality sets in..... We are NOT going to win this sweepstake. I'd say the order will be BC (as HC or OC), OTT (as OC), then us.
kelownabomberfan Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 I would love to see Cortez take a HC job in BC and watch them go 3-15 next year. That said, I would rather have him as our OC.
Floyd Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Why would he go To ottawa as OC instead of here? I say BC HC or OC in calgary but I think we have a real shot if we want it

RagingIce Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 So this makes how many OCs that Durant has turfed? like 5? IC Khari and JohnnyOnTheSpot 2
Tracker Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Heck if Cortez managed to survive in Regina, Winnipeg ought to feel like heaven by comparison. Al Bundy 1
Ripper Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 First of all I find it funny that many of you never miss a opportunity to make fun of the Riders and enjoy our loses. Ok that's not the funny part, its that you want to sign the coach that helped us lose. Cortez looked ok/fairly good when Durant was playing. The second Durant went down it was totally obvious he had zero ability to adapt the play book or play calling for the rookie qb's. He is a big part of our struggles down the stretch and I'm glad he is gone. He does know Willy but also had no problem with Drew sitting on the bench here either even when Durant played hurt at times last year. I think George is more of a closer than a builder. my 2 cents.
Mark F Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 how did sask O do after Durant got hurt? They stunk on Offense. knee jerk
kelownabomberfan Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 MOBomberFan, Fraser, rebusrankin and 2 others 5

Any opposing D worth their salt will shut down the run and make your rookie throw more. The best you can usually hope for with a rookie QB is your defense keeping the game close or perhaps chipping in with turnovers and points.

I just can't justify losing that many games without Durant. Terribly predictable play calling also.

Either your young QBs were incompetent or he did a poor job of preparing them. Guys like Marve (2014) and Collaros (2013) are proof that it can work if prep is done proactively throughout the season.

Cortez was the qb coach in addition to OC. Many fans here including myself have referenced that as a huge mistake. Khari was here the year before as qb coach.
iso_55 Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Should have been hired the instant after Madani tweeted it. Get'er done O'Shea. It's MOS, c'mon... you really think he'd do that? I don't. Hey wait, the Riders made a coaching move the day before the GC...
17to85 Posted November 29, 2014 Report Posted November 29, 2014 Give the man as much money as he wants to coach here. Would be the best offensive coordinator this team has had since I don't know when. Mr. Perfect, Blue-urns, NotoriousBIG and 4 others 7
