^^^ Pretty much my first reaction...

I thought it was fantastic - every day tends to unfold more or less the way I knew it would, and the things outside of that are generally not very surprising.  So seldom does something truly unexpected happen.  Even here, we all have our established routines.

And then one relatively normal day it shows up in a thread - Khalif Mitchell denies the holocaust.  That's not just unexpected, like landing Westerman.  That's unexpected and just totally random.  Not even with 8 hours of sleep and some good peyote would I have come up with that.

Not as surprising - Khalif Mitchell is still an idiot.

Is Billy Peach worth making an offer on?

This board had a massive hard on for Peach last year, but not sure we need him now. With our depth he'd likely end up on the PR.

Yup up to the point of people insulting Walters just because he wouldn't attempt to pluck him off PR.. (Not that anyone here has a clue if we ever tried or attempted a trade..). So I expect a mutiny on university drive if we don't make a call at least., lol

Not sure if it was that everyone had such a massive hard-on for Peach, but rather a reflection of how flaccid our O-Line was last year.  Picard, Bryant and now Chungh are the Viagra our o-line really needed, which we didn't have last year.   Also adding Stoudermire helped (whoops, forgot that meme was dead).

Arash Madani @ArashMadani

Khalif Mitchell says that after a "heart-to-heart conversation," he "wholeheartedly" apologizes for his tweets. #CFL

If this was the first, or even second occurrence, I'd be willing to consider giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I may be indifferent but who the hell cares what his beliefs are?  Me being from Canada enjoy having my right to free speech and own beliefs, if I want to believe that landing on the moon say was a conspiracy then I should be able too.  The same goes for any person in Canada.  He isn't expressing hatred himself all he was doing was posting a video to which he may find interesting, or he may agree.  He isn't expressing hatred towards someone else though, it isn't like the video or movie or documentary is illegal in Canada.  So I just don't myself understand why he should be fined, and why so many people should be up in arms regarding his own personal twitter account in which he is expressing his own personal opinions and believes.  I didn't believe we lived in a dictatorship society where freedom of speech is not allowed.

If you want a football player gone it should be purely based on them being football players and being shitty as a football player, or someone who takes too many penalties.  But what they do in they personal time outside of work life that is "legal" shouldn't concern us.  If he was caught selling Cocaine, or using steroids or something in the matter which is illegal or affects his ability to play football that is something completely different.

I get what you are saying but it is more complicated then that.

I don't know what the CFL policies are, but most professional sports organizations have athletes sign code of conduct agreements, same with CEOs and anyone who is in the public eye and is seen as representing a company or brand.

Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can say and do whatever you want without consequence.  It means the government can't arrest you for it.  Every action has a reaction.

The CFL and BC Lions need to protect their brand.  If they are seen supporting a person with conflicting views of a large percentage of their fans, it could mean loss revenue for them.  That is why code of conduct policies are in place.  To protect a brand and company.

So you definitely have your right to your own beliefs and free speech, but if you signed an agreement that if those beliefs conflict with your employers and if you do something to tarnish their brand, they have the right to punish and or fire you.
