Tracker Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Damned few athletes know when its time. Most will have to be pushed before they decide to jump, even the star players. At the very least, 20 year olds recover a lot quicker from owies than 44 year olds.
B-F-F-C Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 This reminds me of Allen Pitts all over again. Wally is not afraid to say good bye to long time vets but what bothers me is why wait till training camps starts? Why not release him during the off season. It's a cruel world in football and players have to accept their fate.
BBlink Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 He's a kicker. Don't really see what the problem is with his age until he is unable to kick. BC had basically crapped all over their ratio for no reason. SPuDS 1
SPuDS Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 Paul still thinks he got it? Why not let him prove it and if he loses at the end of the day, bully for Wally. If macallum wins, they bring in a cut canauck kicker and let Paulie finish off this season., now, they are in a craptacular situation if one American can't do both jobs... Or worse, neither can do the job fully... Not saying I'm sad that it's happening to BC tho lol., nice to see one of the "better ran" organizations seem to take some missteps..
WBBFanWest Posted June 6, 2015 Report Posted June 6, 2015 As others have said, sure is nice when the drama llama decides to visit someone else for a change. MOBomberFan 1

kelownabomberfan Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 @TheChrisGarrett: I'm in shape and ready to step in and produce should any team NFL or CFL needs my talents.. #iStayReady #illBeWaiting Wish him luck.
Brandon Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Maybe the Riders will call him up if they have a fumble or two and Chamblin flips out..
Dr. Blue Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 I don't think the BC thing is that bad. They gave him an option to retire or get released. He didn't want to retire so he technically asked to be released. They've obviously seen these kickers they have play and decided that they like them more than McCallum. If they have a kicker they really like they can't keep saying "oh geez I really wish Paul would retire." At least he has an opportunity to join another team's camp and compete (should anybody choose to pick him up). As the old saying goes... It's a business. Of course, if the international kickers they have stink, then BC would look bad.
JuranBoldenRules Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 He hit 90% of his FG attempts last season. Unless he had a leg amputated this off-season, it's a bad decision. comedygeek, rebusrankin and Fan Boy 3
TBURGESS Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 It's a business. If the coach doesn't think any player has it anymore, then it's time to replace them. It shouldn't matter if the player has 1 year or a ton of years under his belt. BC gave McCallum a choice to retire or to be cut. He chose to be cut. Nothing the matter with that IMO.
BBlink Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 There's nothing ethically wrong about cutting him. Was it a smart move though? General consensus is probably not. Seems like a rash decision by a new coach trying to put his stamp on the team. We'll see how it plays out for him. gbill2004 and Jaxon 2
ALuCsRED Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Hey, it's not like Wally left a pile of manure in his yard when McCallum missed a kick. Al Bundy 1
Bigblue204 Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 It's not that he was cut that's shady. It's that they said he asked to be released. When McCallum came out and Said he didn't. That's why this is so fun to watch.
johnzo Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Ottawa's gotta be reaching out to McCallum right now. (trivia learned while googling to see if this is actually happening:) It would be his second stint in Ottawa since he was actually a Rough Rider back in 1993. And he's the only player in CFL history to have played against all three Ottawa franchises. Tracker and Al Bundy 2
gbill2004 Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 @BCLionsDen: Anyone upset that Paul McCallum was released hasn't seen these two kickers in camp. All I can say is wow. #BCLions #CFLTC
rebusrankin Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 Those kickers still haven't done it in a real game yet and it impacts your use of the DI.
BBlink Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 That twitter has been damage control for that decision since the beginning. You're right, they'll have to kick in an actual game first
bearpants Posted June 7, 2015 Report Posted June 7, 2015 So everyone who thought Taman predicting 12-6 was optimistic... Ott LB Preneau is also predicting 12-6 for his squad... I think 6-12 would be a good start for them...
Fatty Liver Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Esk. RB John White in a walking boot predicted to miss half the season. This is the guy that ran rough shod over Etcheverry's career late last season.

17to85 Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 @BCLionsDen: Anyone upset that Paul McCallum was released hasn't seen these two kickers in camp. All I can say is wow. #BCLions #CFLTC Just like how last year in camp for the Bombers Maher was looking good and then wound up having a craptacular season when it started for real?
MTA Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Looks like JJ is on the outs in ottawa. On the second team depth chart, crying on his FB a bit.
M.O.A.B. Posted June 8, 2015 Report Posted June 8, 2015 Herb Zurkowsky @HerbZurkowsky1 Tanner Marsh just left the field and is having his left knee examined. Judging by the way he's holding his head, it appears serious. Shall we offer them Marve for the highest draft pick we can get?
