Jpan85 Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Just picked up Jay Harrison for a 6th rd draft pick blitzmore, SPuDS and New_Earth_Mud 3
The Unknown Poster Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 and so this is Christmas... ...and what do you got? A top 4 defenceman...NOT! Jets not called anyone up yet? Scary! If they intend to call someone up I would think it would have to be now. Makes me wonder if Chevy is still trying to work a trade or signing before midnight. Our 6 D today were: Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Chiarot, Grant Clitsome, Paul Postma, Adam Pardy, Julien Brouillette and so this is Christmas... ...and what do you got? A top 4 defenceman...NOT! Should not be sent down ever again. He's earned his spot.
The Unknown Poster Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Just picked up Jay Harrison for a 6th rd draft pick Born November 3, 1982 (age 32)Oshawa, ON, CAN Height 6 ft 4 in (193 cm) Weight 211 lb (96 kg; 15 st 1 lb) Position Defence Shoots Left NHL team Former teams Winnipeg Jets Carolina Hurricanes Toronto Maple Leafs National team Canada NHL Draft 82nd overall, 2001 Toronto Maple Leafs Playing career 2002–present
The Unknown Poster Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Jay Harrison makes $1.5 million this year and next and is then a UFA. We're going to have a lot of bodies when everyone is healthy.
Rich Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 #NHLJets add D Jay Harrison from #Canes for 6th round pick. Harrison played for HC Paul Maurice before with Canes, Leafs and Marlies — Ken Wiebe (@WiebeSunSports) December 18, 2014
The Unknown Poster Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 @garylawless: 6th rounder #nhljets send to Carolina forHarrison was Ottawa's acquired in a previous deal. Tough to get something for nothing but Chevy did
Rich Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Harrison, 32, is very thoughtful and a solid third pairing guy who can chip in on the PK. Nice addition at a low cost for #NHLJets — Ken Wiebe (@WiebeSunSports) December 18, 2014
sweep the leg Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Good trade. Big stay at home dman for a very reasonable price. Edit: Carolina also eating 30% of his salary.
Mike Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Played with Maurice in Toronto and Carolina, no doubt this is the guy Maurice wanted
Atomic Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 I really like this trade. Giving up very little for an immediate need, and it is a veteran guy that Maurice is familiar with. Exactly what the team needs right now.
Rich Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Even better... Carolina is retaining approximately 25 per cent of Harrison's salary. — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) December 18, 2014
mbrg Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Good trade. Big stay at home dman for a very reasonable price. Edit: Carolina also eating 30% of his salary. It's a fantastic trade. That's about the least we could give up, and Harrison isn't a bum.
New_Earth_Mud Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 People always question if Chevy knows what hes doing.... This shows he does. IMO anyway... lol blitzmore, Brandon and Goalie 3
Goalie Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 Solid trade actually, Harrison is like a better version of adam pardy and grant clitsome really. What this might mean when everyone is healthy is pardy going down to st johns.
The Unknown Poster Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 And to help re-stock the cupboard in St Johns: @WiebeSunSports: #IceCaps added a D today, inking Ryan Parent to a pro tryout offer. Parent was a 1st round choice (18th overall) of #Preds in 2005 #NHLJets
FrostyWinnipeg Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Kind of feel bad for some of the guys on the Rock. None of them were good enuf for our needs.
Floyd Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Is it an option to call up Morrisey or would that wreck his development...
Jpan85 Posted December 19, 2014 Author Report Posted December 19, 2014 Not with him committed to the world juniors right now.
sweep the leg Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Kind of feel bad for some of the guys on the Rock. None of them were good enuf for our needs. Chiarot & Brouillette are here and both Kichton & Ellerby are hurt. It makes sense to search for dmen from other teams rather than bring up guys who are bottom pairing dmen in the minors.
sweep the leg Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Is it an option to call up Morrisey or would that wreck his development... You can only bring him up on an emergency basis. He can't stay up for a prolonged time.
New_Earth_Mud Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Is it an option to call up Morrisey or would that wreck his development... I think the question should be would help in his development? ... and the answer would be no. I was thinking the same thing and im not sure if it would hurt him but i dont think it would help either him or us right now so id say leave him doing what hes doing.

Between Winnipeg and St Johns we have seven injured defencemen right now.
IC Khari Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Harrison may actually be as good if not better than Stuart. Nice trade ....
The Unknown Poster Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Harrison might end up sticking here when we're healthy.
Atomic Posted December 19, 2014 Report Posted December 19, 2014 Harrison might end up sticking here when we're healthy. It's going to be interesting. They won't want to send Chiarot back down if he keeps playing well. We could end up with Enstrom, Stuart, Harrison, Pardy, Clitsome and Chiarot all as left handed D. But that's a problem for another time... We won't be completely healthy for a while yet, if at all this season.
