gbill2004 Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 @PentonKirk: The #Bombers restructured Nick Moore's contract to give him some bonus money on the 2014 salary cap. No salary change. #CFL
gbill2004 Posted January 2, 2015 Author Report Posted January 2, 2015 Walters is really clearing a lot of cap space to make some big 2015 free agency splashes.
Blueandgold Posted January 2, 2015 Report Posted January 2, 2015 Maybe he's looking to add one more big salary receiver?
Mike Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Smart cap work by the GM SPuDS and Noeller 2
TBURGESS Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Leaving any 2014 cap space available would be dumb GM'ing. We must have had a lot of space considering all the signings this year and the Moore restructure.
Mike Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 A 500k increase once most rosters were set will do that to you.
gbill2004 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 A 500k increase once most rosters were set will do that to you.Seems like the Bombers have done way more 2014 re-signings than any other team.
Mike Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Maybe but I often feel like that's just us noticing Bomber news more than news on any other team. SPuDS 1
gbill2004 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 Maybe but I often feel like that's just us noticing Bomber news more than news on any other team.Is there a list anywhere of team-by-team 2014 re-signings?

I wish.Check this out: http://m.cfl.ca/article/2015-free-agent-tracker. Not the best as a lot of our re-signings were guys who weren't FAs.
Mr Dee Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Why can't we just give credit where credit is due? Walters is spending the 2014 wisely, not just spending willy-nilly. He and O'Shea must have gone over the roster very carefully and determined who was to extended or re-signed. Seeing as the Wild bunch (Wild, Sears and Washington) were determined to test the NFL waters, they must have gone down the list and parcelled out what they could and to whom they could. Not a bad idea, by any means, as it keeps some important NIs and players 'paid forward' and their locked up contracts in our control for for the next couple of years. Then, we can do the same thing again next off-season, if possible, and just keep this rotation going, in blocks, for years to come. As to who has signed whom, I find the Bombers have extended more contracts than other teams, but Montreal, having just re-signed 4 potential FAs, have now got 7 of their 18 FA guys re-signed. And these guys are clutch guys. Lavarius, Paxson, Venable and Woods. They join Deslauriers, Boulay and Sutton. Impressive. blitzmore 1
Floyd Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Pretty standard stuff but I'll never get tired of having a GM that acts like a real GM
gbill2004 Posted January 3, 2015 Author Report Posted January 3, 2015 Pretty standard stuff but I'll never get tired of having a GM that acts like a real GM Yep Joe Mack would have been lying on a beach in Mexico the entire month of December.
Noeller Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Pretty standard stuff but I'll never get tired of having a GM that acts like a real GMYep Joe Mack would have been lying on a beach in Mexico the entire month of December.such an ignorant, useless statement. Instead of shitting on someone who's no longer here, I'm gonna just praise Walters for continuing to prove why he's good at this job. Glad we've got him... yogi 1

Floyd Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 He struck me as more of an arizona RV guy than mexican beach...
DR. CFL Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Great news now when Moore plays 3 games he's a minimal cap hit for 2015
Tracker Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Moore was very good for those short times when he was actually on the field, but I don't know how much longer we can put up with his parade of owies. We need both performance and durability and I hope Walters and the scouts are planning to bring some heat on Moore in training camp.
Brandon Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Yeesh a guy is hurt one season and now he's accident prone and better stay healthy?
holoman Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 Yeesh a guy is hurt one season and now he's accident prone and better stay healthy? The jury is still out, but the guy has yet to play a full season. The closest was 2013.
iso_55 Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 So he goes elsewhere & puts up 1200 yards receiving. Let's not give up on the guy yet & hope last season was just bad luck for Moore.
Mr Dee Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 I believe Nick Moore will have a bounce back year, and that Graig Newman will play like his name, Drew Willy will have an up and down year, Watson will full-fill his half year contract, Vega will step up, January will start the year off right, Ryan Lucas is a ??? and let's hope Bryant and Kuale are shadows (walking out the door shadows), they already are shadows, of their former selves.
BlueBumbler Posted January 3, 2015 Report Posted January 3, 2015 NIck Moore was the focus of opposing defences at the start of 2014. I believe he opened things up for Denmark and Kelley when playing. He gets another year to prove himself IMO.
