Congrats on what will be a big payday for Matthews. Even if he fades after this (unlikely), if he's smart, he'll make enough money to set him up right. And sadly we'll never see him in the CFL again.

Good for him! Had a great 2012 season with us in what was an otherwise forgettable year.

@garylawless: Chris Matthews signed a two-year deal - will make 500 k next season

Good for him ... bad for us ...

I think the point is it's bad for him. He can't cash in on his Super Bowl performance because he's already locked in for next year at league minimum.

Still a lot more than he would have made if he'd had to keep working at footlocker.

He never really got a shot at receiver all year.  Super bowl was really the first game they played him on offence.

Got to think going into next year he will be given the opportunity to start next year, and if he shows well, he will be able to parlay that into a big pay cheque.

I wonder if Hawks OC Darrell Bevell will be shown the door? Pete Carroll did his best to cover up for him in the post game interview but it didn't sound too convincing. Someone has to wear the horns for losing like that. I think Bevell gets fired.

i'll admit, I was surprised to hear Matthew's name last night.  Had no idea he had been activated.  Great news for him - and it is good for the CFL too.  Seeing guys come up here to "kickstart" their career again is always good.

Enjoyed see Matthews have a big game, good guy and deserves a real shot to show what he can do, was somewhat pissed about NBC not mentioning him being the CFL rookie of the year, they were talking like they just scouted him at a foot locker or something when in reality, he was playing in the CFL. He might have been working at foot locker in the off season but no doubt the seahawks were aware of him due to his CFL time. They finally mentioned it tho, probably due to Twitter and everybody on there pretty much mentioning Matthews played in the CFL.

Was cool to See Matthews vs Browner (another former CFL player) matched up later in the game too.

NBC mentioned the CFL and his rookie of the year later on in the game a couple times.  I was hoping the Bombers might get a mention, but never happened.

Yeah they did but for the longest time, they were just going on and on about the foot locker thing, finally mentioned it a couple times yes but... i'd suspect it was mainly due to the people on twitter letting them know that. It almost seemed like they were told not to mention he played in the CFL actually.. but yes they did mention it a few times later on after going on and on and on about foot locker for a guy quarter or so.

He came from nowhere according to most so he will take what he can get, lets not get greedy.

I see the irony in the ending of the game. Bigmouth Lynch could have been the hero but wasn't. I can imagine how his ego is suffering.

Literally one of the least egotistical players in the NFL.

I hate the Hawks but I love Lynch, along with the obvious guys in Matthews and Ryan.
