Tom Anselmi (born c. 1956) is a Canadian sports executive who most recently served as the President and COO for Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. Anselmi is an alumnus of Ryerson University and University of Saskatchewan.

Not sure what qualifications an investment banker would have to be commissioner of the CFL.

Connected at one time to MLSE. I see where this is going.

I was expecting to see David Braley (owner of BC Lions), David Braley (former Canadian Senator) and David Braley (owner of the Toronto Argos)

At one time I think he did actually want to be Commish while still owning the Ti Cats.

Investment bankers are regarded as dealmakers at a very high stakes level.  I could see how that could benefit a CFL commissioner, who often has to bring two (or more) sides together to make a deal; be it labour, media, or stadiums, etc.

I imagine being connected to MLSE is a job requirement.

What with the earth revolving around the toronto maple leaves.

Like it or not, or agree or not. This is a high profile job that needs someone that is seriously connected in the large markets. Don't kid yourself that big buck TSN deal is seriously predicated on the large TV markets.

You never put your name up for the job when you can put a puppet in charge instead.

Curious about the last post?have you seen the list of applicants?

Read the Lawless tweet a few posts up.

Lawless just listed the finalists, not a full list of applicants.  JBR said nobody with CFL experience was interested but who's to say there wasn't and they just didn't make the final cut?

Coho had no CFL experience and by all account he was a smiling face shaking glands and kissing babies

Plus he had the best tan I've ever seen on a commissioner.

When the competition is Tom "highly flammable if exposed to sunlight" Wright...

Shaking glands?  Which glands?  Mammary glands?  That sly dog.
