kelownabomberfan Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Kirk Penton @PentonKirk Now Canadian OL Ben Heenan is off the market. #Riders have released him so he can pursue #NFL opportunities. #CFL
Tehedra Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 This means I'm sure we will be taking OL with our first pick. It also means Walters can talk to Hennan and let him know what's up if he doesn't make it onto a team.
sweep the leg Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Call him now anyways and tell him how much we're willing to give him.
The Unknown Poster Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Yup. No "tampering" now to tell him what he can expect if he comes to Winnipeg.
JimmyFartball Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Well not unexpected but it means CFL teams will have to wait for a bit before they shell out large gobs of cash.
M.O.A.B. Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Offer him $300 and a big farm just outside Winnipeg.
17to85 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Any one who actually thought the guy was coming here is crazy kelownabomberfan, NotoriousBIG, Judd and 2 others 5
gbill2004 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Oh man that sucks. Looks like Groulx second overall is a given.
gbill2004 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Edwin Harrison is the other Stamps OL currently headed to free agency. Is he any good? Is he a guard or tackle?
NotoriousBIG Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Any one who actually thought the guy was coming here is crazy Exactly. Guy is yet another born in the ass-belt of Canada product. He will be tackling dummy in the NFL or Rider-for-LIFE. Methinks he's an early cut and will slide into the Green trough.
Atomic Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Edwin Harrison is the other Stamps OL currently headed to free agency. Is he any good? Is he a guard or tackle? He's a tackle (has played both left and right side). He's been with them since 2010 but has seen less and less playing time due to injuries, the emergence of Stanley Bryant and the Stamps picking up Dan Federkeil. Still a good OL though.
Tracker Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Yup. No "tampering" now to tell him what he can expect if he comes to Winnipeg. For one thing, he will be able to use words of more than one syllable when he goes out into the community.

Harrison would be plan D for FA OL.
rebusrankin Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 I knew it was a longshot but it still sucks. So for Free Agent OL, who's left to look at besides Rodgers or Bryant for a Tackle spot?

gbill2004 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Would Harrison be an upgrade over January?
Mike Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Would Harrison be an upgrade over January? Tough to say, he hasn't really played much. When he was healthy and a lineup regular, he was an elite import OL.
NotoriousBIG Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 So is there anyone decent coming to FA that would actually benefit our team? I like our drafting potential but we need some experience too
M.O.A.B. Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Plan B is try to scoop Stanley Bryant AND Sir Vincent Rogers for our OTs. Imo, top Canadian remaining in FA pool (barring re-signing) are... - Brad Sinopoli - Keenan McDougall
gbill2004 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Would Harrison be an upgrade over January? Tough to say, he hasn't really played much. When he was healthy and a lineup regular, he was an elite import OL. He just turned 30 so he should still have some gas left in the tank. I'd think the FA OL order now is: 1. Bryant 2. Rodgers 3. Harrison
Tracker Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 There's a good chance that we've seen the last of Mr.Heenan for awhile. Apparently the NFL have expanded their roster limits and team are scooping up anyone who has even a remote chance of making the roster.
mbrg Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Yup. No "tampering" now to tell him what he can expect if he comes to Winnipeg. Totally legal to talk to him now. Call him now anyways and tell him how much we're willing to give him. "Significantly less than what you'll make in the NFL." There might be rewards for patience, but probably not, most guys that get out of their contracts early are already half way to having a NFL deal done.
gbill2004 Posted February 2, 2015 Report Posted February 2, 2015 Taman's trade for Watson makes more sense now, considering the ratio.
blueingreenland Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 IMHO Henann has a good chance at making an NFL roster. He is only 25, has some playing experience, has quick feet, is smart, and is a quick learner. Good luck to him. Good thing we signed Pichard as he likely will be our only off-season free-agent signing.
