Mike Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Ups the bidding vs two division rivals who would be getting an all-star MLB
Ripper Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Doesn't even make sense that the Riders would be in the hunt for Curran. I don't see Edmonton being in it either. That leaves Ottawa and Winnipeg. Curran is a guy you would love to get. He is a keeper Fred C Dobbs 1
Fred C Dobbs Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Give Curran the money, Kyle. This guy would fill such a hole on our defense. Can you say 'upgrade on Kuale'. Tracker 1
holoman Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Penton reports that it's down to Ottawa, Edmonton, Riders and the Bombers for Curran bidding is up to $150,000 I thought Hervey announced a few days ago that Curran wouldn't be back in Edmonton. He also said he wasn't going to sign anybody, then signed Wallace Miles an hour later.
gbill2004 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I sure hope we get Curran...he's a difference maker. I'd probably rate him highest of him, Peters and Sears, although ideally we'd get two of those three.
TBURGESS Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Curran was one of the two guys on my FA want list, Bryant was the other. I know he's going to cost a lot, but he fills a huge need for us.
gbill2004 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 I could live with a starting LB crew of Curran, Sears and Hurl. Fred C Dobbs 1
Blueandgold Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Pay whatever for Curran and I don't even care if we let Sears walk.
Mike Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 We're going to have a rookie at SAM or WIL In my opinion, so hopefully we spring for experience in the middle
Dirty30 Posted February 15, 2015 Report Posted February 15, 2015 Anyone hearing if we are even close in the Curran sweepstakes?

Jpan85 Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 We're going to have a rookie at SAM or WIL In my opinion, so hopefully we spring for experience in the middle Just based on how Walters was talking in his press conference I think that Unumba will get a good shot at winning one of those jobs.
Fatty Liver Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Anyone hearing if we are even close in the Curran sweepstakes? Kind of indicates that Desjardins is getting smarter with his spending and wants to put out the minimum needed to acquire Curran. Still I don't have much optimism that Walters will outspend that maniac at the poker table. Walters got Bryant but it looks like Desjardin preferred Rogers and didn't bid on Bryant or at least realized he wasn't going to be able to afford both.
James Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 I could live with a starting LB crew of Curran, Sears and Hurl. Can Hurl play WILL that well? I definitely see him as more of a MLB
Fatty Liver Posted February 16, 2015 Report Posted February 16, 2015 Anybody know if Chic had any tryouts with NFL teams and how they went? Obviously wasn't offered any kind of commitment if he signed back with the Riders.
Jacquie Posted February 17, 2015 Report Posted February 17, 2015 Anybody know if Chic had any tryouts with NFL teams and how they went? Obviously wasn't offered any kind of commitment if he signed back with the Riders. Chick wasn't FA.
gbill2004 Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Some speculation on Twitter that RB Keith Toston may be signing with the Bombers.
Mike Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I'd take Toston for camp competition. Always blew my mind that Saskatchewan never gave him a better look, only knock on him is that he can't catch the ball worth ****. But as a big back to chew up tough yards, I'd take him. Certainly don't want him in there as our starting RB but with the Canadian depth we've developed on defense, we may not need 3 designated imports on defense this year, leaving a spot for Stoudermire (I guess technically he's on defense) and an offensive guy.
Jacquie Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN 46m46 minutes ago Khalif Mitchell has signed with Montreal #Als. #CFL
Blueandgold Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I dislike the idea of bringing in an American running back on a second contract.
Fatty Liver Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I like bringing in Toston as a second RB but hope they bring in a bucket load of recruits to compete for TC as well. Khalif can be a handful when motivated much like Willis, not a bad pickup for the Als. if they brought him in at a good price and he's in good physical shape..
Atomic Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 I dislike the idea of bringing in an American running back on a second contract. Why? Lots of American RB's that come up here on their first CFL contract aren't making anywhere near league minimum. Chad Simpson for example. Brought him in from the States and he was making well above league minimum. Sure, some RBs that arrive might be making league minimum or close to it, but I wouldn't just assume that a guy like Toston (who wouldn't be coming in as a starter), will be making a whole boat load of cash or really any more than Joe NFL-Cut. Every contract is different.

It's not about the money, it's about the fact that we should be able to recruit a decent running back and not pick up a retread like Toston who's proven that he isn't a starter.
Judd Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Toston wowed me the same way Cotton wowed me in pre-season. I never understood why Toston didn't get more of a chance. He was more of a north/south bruiser but I thought he was the Riders best RB. Toston and Cotton would be a good combo and change of pace that could really help us and keep defences guessing.
