Jimmy Pop Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 No one's replaced Burmistrov. That's one of the reasons our bottom six has been such a sore point for this team since he left.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 No surprise about the Pens, they do this every year.
BomberBall Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 No one's replaced Burmistrov. That's one of the reasons our bottom six has been such a sore point for this team since he left. That was kind of my point... In my opinion, Burmistrov would be a welcomed addition to the 3rd line... As long as he has his head on straight.
Rich Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 I don't think the Jets would be the hold up if Burmi would be willing to come back to Winnipeg, which according to his agent, he has not problem with. Right now he is worth more as a player to the Jets then what he would fetch in a trade. Burmi also didn't bail in the middle of a contract, so I don't really see the bad blood from the Jets. He played to the end of his contract then decided to go play somewhere else. There is a difference between the two. My guess is he comes back to the NHL, signs a 1 year deal at a modest raise over what he was making before he left, both parties can assess where he is after that and what he is worth. He would still be an RFA after that deal. Both sides can then assess his value in the NHL, and if the Jets don't want him can trade him knowing what that value is.
Mr Dee Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Burmi would be an instant upgrade for the Jets. I'd regard playing for Maurice is the polar opposite of playing for Noel and I'm thinking Burmistrov would flourish under Maurice's system. But is there is time enough to get this done?

It won't be done this season - he's still under contract to his KHL team.

Mr Dee Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 I was under the impression that there was a window where he could sign in the NHL after his KHL schedule was over. That's why I thought there might be time. Oh well. New_Earth_Mud 1

Goalie Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 If Burmi signed by December he could have played this season but that was 3 months ago now so next year

Goalie Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 That's quite the trade by the Panthers tho. Looking like they are going for it, Lots of youngsters on that team there in Florida, it's a good young team, Jagr might bring them some leadership. Florida definitely trying to get in to the playoffs tho with this move. Boston surprisingly quiet.
sweep the leg Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 I'd love to see them get in ahead of the Bruins. The trade isn't the end of the world for them in turns of giving up too many picks, it's just more than I would have given. It's not like they don't have any youth in their system. Hopefully it works out for them.
17to85 Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Boston surprisingly quiet. This is what happens when you are so tight to the salary cap all the time.

Jpan85 Posted February 26, 2015 Author Report Posted February 26, 2015 Head scratcher here Leafs trade Clarkson to Blue Jackets for Horton.
The Unknown Poster Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Leads dump a big salary and get back a salary they can hide on LTIR. Gives them cap flexibility and they don't care about the cash. Noeller 1
Noeller Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Yeah, Horton is really irrelevant to this deal. It's all about ridding themselves of the Clarkson albatross...

I might have to take it back They only 2pts behind wild card spot but thats being held by Boston.
Jacquie Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Russ Hobson ✔ @russ_sportsguy So basically the #Leafs are paying about an extra $1 million per season to save about $5 mill per season in cap space. #CapMath
sweep the leg Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 The Clarkson trade seems like a good deal for both sides. Horton's contract wasn't insured so Columbus was on the hook for the full amount whether he ever plays again or not.
