Change should not be feared because of change alone. What happens elsewhere does not always recur again. Manitoba's situation is entirely different than Alberta's, and I'm sure that will be evident in the coming months. It was time for a new Gov. in Alberta, and you got it in a shocking way.

I can only hope that Canada gets a similar change on the Federal level. We need it.

A big part of Manitobas situation is because past NDP governments made it an unfriendly place to do business. The Alberta NDP campaigned on making corporations and specifically oil and gas companies pay more. They are actively looking to make it a less business friendly environment. Wish I was a teacher, then I'd be taken care of by the NDP. As it stands they're just going to tax me more, slow down an already slow oil field which means I'll earn less with less work, all in the name of someone else should pay for the spending. **** the NDP and their ass backwards ideals. 

 

 

Not to nit-pick, nor to come out as pro-NDP (though I did vote for them I've very cautiously optimistic), but I'm not sure you could do any better than being a teacher now in Alberta. The starting wage is close to 6 figures and the union is very strong.

Silly comparison.  if you announced you were going to kick me in the nuts if enough people voted for it...and they did...and you kicked me in the nuts, I might not appreciate it but the people that voted for you to do so likely would.

I dont trust him as far as I could throw him.  Whats worse, the things he does say are mind blowing.

 

I have no problem with political ideology differences.  I've sort of run the gamut over my life from NDP to Liberals to Cons.  But the boogyman stuff about Harper is so laughable.  The "he's so scary" stuff.  Still waiting for the boots on the ground...in our cities!  Still waiting for abortion to be banned, the death penalty to be brought back in and incarceration rates to skyrocket.  When is Harper going to finally unveil his scary master plan??  Ive been waiting years now.

While, in general, I agree with you, Bill C-51 and they way it is being brought in scares me. So do some of the past comments (Toews) regarding privacy issues.

 

I do think it is time for a change federally, but I wish that didn't mean a choice between the NDP and Man-Boy

the recession barely hit Manitoba because the economy is already the shits. If you seriously think Manitoba has a strong economy you are out to lunch. What Manitoba has is a stable economy because there isn't much to it. Doesn't have far to drop so a recession doesn't impact it like it would gigantic economies like Alberta or Ontario.

The nature of large booming economies is that they can fall. If Manitoba had one of the strongest economies in the country how come they're always a have not province?

Well, with a lot of people out of jobs, I'm not going to be surprised if they all end up moving to Saskatchewan. It seems to be where all of the jobs are.

I agree with you, Winnipeg and Manitoba, have a remarkable number of successful small business enterprises. Not dependent on one or another party being in power at all.
