He eventually wins everything and overthrows the overlords of that planet and gets married and has, I believe, 2 kids. They're going to merge that storyline into Thor Ragnarok. Yep, there is some funny business about the rights to hulk movie distribution. Disney could make it, but would have to give 100% dist to the previous owners which they ofc wont do. So hulk has to hang around in the middle ground for a while. I imagine the illuminati portion is going to be ret conned severely or taken out entirely. Im pretty jacked for this movie. The cgi doesnt bother me, though hulk having a high dollar stand alone would be nice. So oceans 11 is getting a remake. And re rolled into an all female cast similar to ghost busters. How is it that white washing roles is a terrible tragedy, but gender swapping (and pooping on men as in ghostbusters) is ok? Star wars does trailers right. They dont tell too much, just enough to tease you. Another movie i just cant wait for.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 My understanding is Ocean's 8 is not a reboot with women in the role of men, but a sequel that takes place in the same universe. So I see no issue with it. Especially in the context that Ocean's 11 was mainly an excuse for a bunch of "cool" buddies to get paid to hang out in Vegas for a few weeks. Why can't women do the same? Its a good cast and Im looking forward to it actually. Ghostbusters failed because it tried to be a reboot. It should have used the originals in prominent roles. Its sort of like making a Star Trek film during the 50th Anniversary of the franchise and have nothing at all relevant to the over-all franchise even though the original Captain is ready, willing and able to appear. Sometimes studio's outsmart themselves.
Noeller Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 I just feel like all these "all female cast!!" movies are trying to hard to make some kind of political statement about how women can do things just as well as man, instead of concentrating on trying to make a good movie. I don't care who the hell is in the cast, so long as they're talented and the movie is top notch. By worrying about the sexism, etc., they're completely missing the point and wasting everyone's time. rebusrankin, tacklewasher, wbbfan and 1 other 4

I don't think so. I think it might be a trend but only because studios feel the women audience is perhaps not being mined to its best. Studios don't usually risk money to make a statement, They do what they think will sell. Certainly though, if the spin off is that a general audience sees women as more equal to men in an industry where women are underpaid compared to men, then so be it. Nothing wrong with doing the right thing.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Weren't the Oceans movies basically a way to make some money for their artistic films?
The Unknown Poster Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 Latino Review has a story (originally posted somewhere else but I don't recall) about a former WB employee who posted an open letter about the DC films. No confirmation its legit but they think it is. Complaints are mostly about how the DC films have been screwed up and a guy like Snyder keeps getting opportunities while lower level employees suffer. The interesting part is she claims Wonder Woman is just as big a mess as the other DC films. Yikes.
Taynted_Fayth Posted August 12, 2016 Author Report Posted August 12, 2016 they showed a trailer for Wonder Woman at Suicide Squad. Gotta say it was underwhelming. especially if it takes place during WWII. While Im familiar with the cartoon version of her little intro to the "real" world after Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) washes up on the shore of themyscira, it didnt seem like they had much chemistry in the trailer. Call it a hunch but I think that movie is gonna tank. IMHO the justice league is a far better outlet to have characters like the flash, WW, Aquaman...etc because it's not an entire film following them solo. I kinda think this is where the Green Lantern and possibly Superman fails at times. Batman is the only character that succeeds solo because he's kind of like an anti hero who can be pushed to blur the line between right and wrong. everyone else are cookie cutter good guys with story limitations
The Unknown Poster Posted August 12, 2016 Report Posted August 12, 2016 I think part of the issue is the studio is mystified by the backlash to both Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman and doesn't understand why they aren't great. So they are trying to make changes in mid stream. They need to stop, change creative people and not commence until they have a long term plan. Trying to play catch up to Marvel is silly.

I'd rather see the wonder woman story revolve around the greek mythology of her background. I was always a big fan of the God of War games where you would actually fight gods, I think it would translate well on the big screen. Not like wrath of the titans portrayal of Chronos, but I think they could have a field day with Hades and Ares if done right Edited August 12, 2016 by Taynted_Fayth

More Thor like? DCEU kills people, MCU not so much. Wouldn't even kill War Machine falling from 3000 ft.

I feel the same way. I hope Oceans 8 would be better then that. But I am worried it will be. They werent master pieces but they were great pop corn movies. 14 hours ago, 17to85 said: I saw the wonder woman trailer and my thoughts were "wow they're trying real hard to be a female captain america" I really hope they are doing new 52 WW based movie. Because that line was amazing. That is how you make a story with a strong female lead. 13 hours ago, FrostyWinnipeg said: Yeah she has a shield but cap aint got no magical bracelets or ability to jump quarter mile. More Thor like? (though dccu did the same with the superman scene in BVS) It really weakens there stories. How ever I think they will with the infinity gauntlet story line in order to get actors out of roles who arent going to continue. Rhodes death in the comics was incredibly moving. I was disappointed they didnt stick to it, but I think its because they are going to write out RDJ at some point and put don cheadle in his place.

I could be mistaken, I just remember tell Steve Trevor being an army pilot shot down and Washing up on themyscaria, ww escorts him back wearing stars not stripes to page homeage to the country she's visiting and disappears after. When she returns in modern time he's old (but alive) and she hasn't aged. It would make more sense for it to be wwii in this movie tho assuming it's supposed to be now, after the fact

I don't believe for a minute that their one and only priority is to make money, and so if they are making a political statement it's because they think that's what people want and will spend money on, not because of any principle. STB NEEDS a big China to mitigate losses. They will lose money no matter what. But they are possibly looking at upwards of $200MM loss. Who knows if Trek 4 will even happen.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 Rumor has it Deathstroke will be the main bad guy of the stand alone Batman film http://heroichollywood.com/ben-affleck-batman-deathstroke-video/
Brandon Posted August 29, 2016 Report Posted August 29, 2016 I believe in China the studio only gets half of what they get in North America from the ticket sales.
