You not like?

I'm a huge Trek fan (and nerd). I thought beyond had a lot going for it. But it needed to be beefed up. Felt like a solid episode of TV. Still too many plot holes and contrivances.  Liked it more on first viewing. Second viewing annoyed me

Unconfirmed "leaked" description of new trailer for The Last Jedi (from Latino Review):

Spoiler

The trailer is said to begin with an “expert slicer” walking through the streets of Canto Bight, which we now know is the casino city and was filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. It is also believed to have voiceovers from Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver.

Hamill’s voiceover in the first trailer was a brilliant move by Disney as fans probably couldn’t wait much longer to hear Luke, and it wasn’t just hearing the Jedi Master, but what he said at the end of the trailer sent fans into a frenzy. The additional voiceover’s of Ridley and Driver could sort of give us an idea of where the character’s are at, and the elements of the story that are propelling them, providing insight into each of their current mental states.

A look at Captain Phasma’s elite Stormtroopers and Snoke’s Praetorian guards are also believed to be shown. We have seen from promotional material that they will heavily resemble Emperor Palpatine’s royal guards, except their attire seems to be fashioned more like that of armor than the robes worn by Palpatine’s guards. Oddly enough, the Supreme Leader himself, Snoke, is said to be absent from the trailer.

A broken, very distraught Luke Skywalker is said to be shown falling to his knees in front of the burning Jedi Temple, with Captain Phasma victoriously walking through the wreckage. If this turns out to be true, this will be a truly powerful scene, as it will show a defeated Luke Skywalker, perhaps one on the verge of giving up. It is thought that the trailer will drop sometime this summer!

So not really a spoiler but if they show flashbacks of Luke, I wonder if they will de-age him?  I cant recall off hand, when they had the Lightsaber vision in TFA, they showed Luke place his hand on R2D2, did we see any of Luke's face?  Was he bearded?

Saw WW last night. Agree that it had a similar feel to CA. Really enjoyed it and is by far the best DC out so far. If Gadot was pregnant during filming, I couldn't see it. She looked great. The movie is worth seeing big screen.

here's some 2019 movies that have been green lit, or been currently delayed and won't come out till 2019

Captain Marvel: Starring Brie Larson as title role,  and who should be making first MCU appearance in avengers infinity wars

Fast and Furious 9 (10 was also green lit,  so likely a 2 parter)

Avengers 4 - end of phase 3 so probably lots of deaths and retirements as most actors contracts are up

Transformers 7 (8 also green lit)

Spider Man Homecoming 2

Masters of The Universe - apparently a lot of A list actors want in on this He-man reboot and they got a guy who was involved with the dark knight trilogy and blade movies to work on this.

Chris Evans signed a one film extension as his contract was up after the next Avengers. He's now on for the Avengers 4 film

its interesting. Assuming many of the originals will want to move on do they kill them off?  And continue with the newer characters and forget the originals?  Recast

they could do the captain America story where he was replaced. But you sort of need Evans back eventually.

Do they eventually reboot?

I went and saw The Mummy tonight. I gotta say I'm not quite sure why it's getting a lot of criticism tbh. It wasn't a world beater of a movie, but it wasn't all that bad and certainly sets itself up pretty good for the future Dark Universe movies.  I don't know what it is with people, but when there's only 5 people in a theater, why the **** do people need to sit right behind me and kick my damn seat. F'n suzie seat kickers lol.

Anyways, while I don't think monster squad will have a future, I could see them rebooting Van Helsing (with or without Hugh Jackman) and basically trying to make some sort of good vs evil teams for 1 big ass fight movie when all is said and done.

I'd probably wait for this one to come out on dvd/blu ray tho

We didn't see Luke's face, but it was only 5 or 6 years before TFA according to Bloodlines.  So he wouldn't look that different.  That's probably the scene where is hair is shorter and has more of a goatee instead of a full beard.

Saw Wonder Woman finally.  It was pretty good, better then any of the DCEU movies so far.  I found it a little slow at times, but that's normal for an origin story.  I guess I just wanted a bit more action.  I think it was just the time it was set.  Having someone so powerful fight a bunch of humans with guns is only fun to watch for so long.  Still cool though and I love the Wonder Woman music when they ramp it up.

Saw Wonder Woman last night.  I sort of reminded me of a cross between Captain America and Thor.  It wasn't perfect.  But I really enjoyed it.  As someone else said, the origin story always pulls a film down a bit.

The superhero aspects were almost the least enjoyable parts.  The human elements were most enjoyable.

Gal Gadot is a revelation.  She has so much screen presence but in a way that isnt overbearing.  She can be the demur one but with a simple change of expression, she commands the audience's attention.  And unbelievably beautiful.  Easy to buy her as princess or Goddess.  Everything about her is perfect for the role from her physical attributes to her beauty to her accent.

Chris Pine was solid in his role too.  I have a hard time watching him and not seeing Captain Kirk, but perhaps because I havent seen him in a lot of other things.

There were some loosey goosey plot points but over-all it was very enjoyable.  Easily the best of the DC films and it seemed there was more emphasis on story then spectacle.

Im not sure they really needed to connect this film to the larger universe in the way they did.  Im not sure if it bothered me...but I sort of rolled my eyes a bit.  Let it be its own thing.  There is a lot to mine here with a character that is introduced in World War I and hasnt aged in 100 years.  Lots of great stories they could tell.

For a character who seems to love humanity and see the best in everyone (and believes in love so strongly) you wonder how many men did she love over the last 100 years...which is a real Captain America type angle to play.  How did she never become disillusioned when seeing World War II, Nuclear weapons etc.

I also love the message.  We can debate whether kids should idolize fictional characters (or real characters like sports stars) but regardless, kids WILL idolize them.  Here is a female that is not a damsel in distress or a princess in the traditional sense.  A female character that is strong, independent, free, brilliant and believes in peace and equality.  She took no **** from the men.  Its a great character for young girls to look up which is why I hope the sequal continues to be a "period" story because I think you can hit that message home seeing her live through certain times.

One major spoiler I will mention under the tag:

Spoiler

I was surprised they killed Steve.  Because they had that early conversation about marriage and promising to love each until death and Diana asking if they do and Steve saying hardly ever, and Diana asking why... I thought Steve would survive and we'd get a prologue from 1970 or something with Steve a very old man, dying of natural causes with Diana at his side saying she always loved him.  I suppose his sacrifice was what reinstated her belief in humanity but I figured they'd pay off that earlier conversation in a way Captain America sort of didn't.

Original Flatliners still the scariest movie I've ever seen...

It was that old-school kind of scary where it's not really jump scares or a guy with a chainsaw, it's just creepy and disturbs you to your core.
