He says he suffered the injury two months ago and tried not to let it affect his play Per WFP - Trouba broken bone in his hand That explains why he was "invisible" the first couple of games. Very tough injury to play through. I'd question the coaching of how they used him but if the argument was made that 60% of Ladd was better than 100% of someone else, so be it. It makes his Game Three performance pretty heroic.
Atomic Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I'd take 60% of Ladd over 100% of Galiardi or Halischuk, who would probably have replaced him. No question.

Atomic Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I'd take 60% of Ladd over 100% of Galiardi or Halischuk, who would probably have replaced him. No question. I would have moved him to third line minutes. Not taken him out, just reduced his ice time. I would have moved Perreault to Little's line. But Im sure Perreault is hurt too. That guy deserves whatever Warrior Award there is. Takes a licking, keeps on ticking. Yeah maybe. But even then, Ladd had 20:29 average ice time and Perreault 17:03. So it's not a huge difference.
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 #NHLJets Paul Maurice: Bryan Little and Dustin Byfuglien had rib dislocations; Mathieu Perreault high-ankle sprain. #bn
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Perreault with a high ankle sprain! Wow, that kid is amazing. He hustled and worked hard every single game.
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Sara Orlesky ✔ @saraorlesky Maurice believes that there are probably 3 #NHLJets players that need to undergo surgery this off season
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming Little: rib dislocation. Perreault: ankle & hand. Others had "minor fractures." 3 surgeries coming. A couple shoulders to look at. 8 guys.
Mark F Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I'm really surprised that people are surprised. The way the Jets played the last month and a half or more, constantly hitting, pounding and pounding. It's not just the other guy that gets worn out and beat up. Yet people were bitching about Ladd. Wheeler's last gasp was in the second last game of regular season, when on the last two rushes in the regular time of the game, he just about killed himself to score to get a win and a playoff spot. The Jets (players, coaches, manager) went all out to get into the playoffs. It was an outstanding team effort. It was great fun to follow. Hopefully in the future they will be a little further ahead towards the end of the season, and will be able to save something for the playoffs. SPuDS 1
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Absolutely. When people looked at the Ducks, they saw a team coasting the last few weeks and saw the Jets playing "playoff hockey" for the last few weeks. Thats why many of us under-estimated the Ducks. They played a very demanding style and this is a team that, in years past, was not used to that and not used to playing a long season. Many warriors on the team. Im very impressed with how many of them took the time to say and write how proud they are to be Winnipeg Jets. it's a disappointing time and I'd not fault them for wanting to get out of town as fast as possible. But you get the impression many of these guys truly are proud to be here. Mark F 1
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming I'm assuming Ladd will need surgery after playing for months with a sports hernia, and Trouba as well with a broken bone in left hand. Trouba played with a broken hand?! Wow. Kid is a gamer, big time. SPuDS 1
SPuDS Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 It really showcases how hard these guys want to play for each other and for Maurice. I hope we can keep a lot of these guys together and Maurice behind the bench because he has instilled such a comradarie amongst these guys.. Do you think Kane is playing through a broken bone? Hell no. I can't even imagine playing with rib cage issues.. Even if they have sort of healed. Every hit, every stretch for the puck would feel like fire across the injury.. Also, Perrault, what a beast! A high ankle sprain is no joke and then the hand as well? Man what a find. Guy is a juggernaut. Trouba fighting thru broken bone in his hand is commendable too seeing as how young he is and hasn't had a chance to develop that inner strength. I'm blown away with how much fight this team had with all these debilitating hurts. And Ladd, wow. Playing thru a hernia of any kind is really impressive. They are no joke and take forever to heal. Even coughing can double you over in pain.. Unreal. At least we can be safe in knowing nobody was dogging it or just not playing to their level. They were trying and made one hell of an effort.
Floyd Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Crazy. Most people I saw weren't complaining about Ladd but saying he looked like he was injured. Only reason that I wouldn't re-sign him is that his style of play shortens his career.

This plus the depth developing behind the big guns will go a long way in keeping our key cogs healthy for the playoff push..

Amen Spuds. I heard an interview a week or two ago, think it it was Wheeler.... he said it all started with Maurice.
BomberBall Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 I also read that Perreault had 'ripped ligaments' in his hand. Impressive what these guys played through.
The Unknown Poster Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Trouba could only grip his stick with two fingers. Boy oh boy. Gutsy performances by a lot of players. Ladd apparently kept his injury secret from many players too. I dogged him a bit this season. But that puts it into perspective being hurt since December. And still had a career season in points.
Jacquie Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 People were bitching about Byfuglien and now we know he had a rib injury too. That must have been difficult with his physical style of play. Ed Tait @WFPEdTait 3h3 hours ago #NHLJets Cheveldayoff: Ladd, Byfuglien big part of leadership group. Do his best to have them a big part of team for many yrs to come. #bn SPuDS 1
johnzo Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 Jesus, a rib dislocation ... I've had less severe rib injuries before and could barely breathe without bad pain. SPuDS 1

Taynted_Fayth Posted April 24, 2015 Report Posted April 24, 2015 playing thru injury shows heart but shows lack of team consideration. I **** on Ladd cuz he was manhandled and/or invisible and only registered 1 assist in 4 games. surely someone healthy could have done as much if not more. my bigger concern was why coaching staff made no adjustment to the onslaught of goals from pavelecs blocker side, or as sportscenter likes to refer to as the ovechkin zone. when we played the capitals it was practically myers job to sit there and keep him/them outta there.
Goalie Posted April 25, 2015 Report Posted April 25, 2015 Who? Halischuk Galiardi peluso? Lol. Ladd and the others played cuz there was nobody to take their spot. That simple.
