Mike Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Penton saying he's been told the contract is valued at north of 400k a year. We'll see how it breaks down when the details leak though, a fair share of that will clearly be bonuses.
Atomic Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Now all your favourite players are going to have to be cut to pay for Willy! Mark F 1
M.O.A.B. Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Now all your favourite players are going to have to be cut to pay for Willy! It's all about managing the SMS. Do you think Miller and Walters are stupid?
gbill2004 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 @PentonKirk: Drew Willy is getting his contract extension, and sources say it's north of 400K per year. #Bombers #CFL

Doublezero Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Really hoping Drew Willy lives up to the promise and confidence that he's being shown here. Hopefully MOS has the cojones to sit Willy if he falls short of expectations. If it is an incentive-laden contract, that would be easier to do.
Stickem Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Great news for the Bombers and the beginning of a solid quarterbacking era in the Peg. Now go out and prove me right Drew Willy.
Goalie Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Good news regardless of the amount. It's not easy to find a QB. US bomber fans should know this more than everyone else.
gbill2004 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 If Joe Mack were still our GM, he'd say to Willy's agent, "Here's $200k...take it or leave it!" IC Khari and Floyd 2

Noeller Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 Real good news...excited to see what the kid shows this summer and hopefully fall!
Jpan85 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 With the cap increase its probably the right value for a 28 year old starting QB.
TBURGESS Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 North of $400K. More than Mitchell, Reilly, Collaros and Crompton. In Ray and Burris territory. Good for Willy, I guess. I hope he earns it this year and going forward. I still think it's the wrong move.
wpgallday1960 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 The Bombers are making a "significant" football announcement at 11am. Lawless & Penton are thinking it's an extension for Willy. Bombers extending their Willy. Had to get that out of the way.
WBBFanWest Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 North of $400K. More than Mitchell, Reilly, Collaros and Crompton. In Ray and Burris territory. Good for Willy, I guess. I hope he earns it this year and going forward. I still think it's the wrong move. I think that in all fairness, you should probably write a strongly worded letter to the the Chair of the Winnipeg Football Club. In it, you can outline your concerns and include your extensive CV which will demonstrate just how informed your opinion is. I'm confident that once they read the letter, they will give it the attention it deserves. Noeller, Mr Dee, yogi and 1 other 4
Mr Dee Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 The contract being done now just shows the parties involved are aware of the necessities of getting this deal done now. And in pretty much the same vein, they will have structured this contract in a way that makes sense..for everybody. Well not everyTBbody, but those who can see it for what it's worth. No horror show, nor distractions to be worried about all year. What am I saying? Every time Willy has a bad throw, int. or gets sacked, I'm sure we'll hear about THAT bloody contract.
Jpan85 Posted May 1, 2015 Report Posted May 1, 2015 I am more concerned about the length of the contract I want a 3+ year contract.
Floyd Posted May 1, 2015 Author Report Posted May 1, 2015 If Joe Mack were still our GM, he'd say to Willy's agent, "Here's $200k...take it or leave it!" Then he'd tell a long story about the days of leather helmets and a time when people used to wear onions on their belt. Good for Willy and the bombers - I'm guessing base salary is more aroun $300-350 with incentives 1/4 of the cap is now tied up in QB and OL, Bob Wylie is full time... if there's a problem now, its on MB's schemes. This must be the earliest an OC has been thrown under the bus. Then again, we did have Crowton.

Not the first time. Won't be the last time. I still hope it works out. That being said, do you think that Willy's worth more than the rest of the young QB's in the league? Adrenaline_x 1

Your shtick seems to be remembering things that didn't happen then complaining about them. Adrenaline_x 1
