Fatty Liver Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 I cant completely disagree with people not wanting to pay into a health care system, if they themselves aren't ailing. strikes me as a high risk high reward kind of system in gambling with the if/when you'd ever need it. It would interesting to know what the average person in say a 10 year span pays into health care tax wise, and how much that person actually uses it during same time and what the fees incurred would be against that amount paid. Of course in places where poverty, disease and violence are rampant I think free health care would end up costing the people way more in taxes as a whole or the government would go broke with how much is being used vs how much they'd bring in money wise. In a place like the US where you pay through the teeth for medical care, how much goes to the government? or are their hospitals and doctors self governing with those payments to look after themselves? For the most part hospitals in the U.S. are private businesses owned by corporations, regulated by government but paid for by insurance companies through health claims. In regard to the cost of health-care there is an obscene stat. that states that 85% of life time health-care costs are incurred within the last 5 years of a persons life. By the time people reach that age destination very few would have sufficient funds to "pay as you go".
basslicker Posted June 23, 2015 Report Posted June 23, 2015 i saw a fb what are they called meme's? anyways its said, tired of ppl making like 12 million dollars to make a movie telling me to donate when i make $12 an hour. very few ppl got rich by helping the needy, and i'd image very few would part with their fortunes after they made. They will never part with their fortunes. Which is crazy because you ain't taking it with you.The rich don't often make it to heaven. I'm also very tired of the rich celebrities telling normal people how to live. ......like celebrities know anything worth while........if a celebrity told you something, it's probably evil.

It's a rich, connected tapestry. I say 'celebrities' because they influence people more than politicians. They're literally worshipped.

Don't know how this has gone political (someone once told me that 'everything' is political) so not surprised....IF we use Greece as an example....capitalism is due for a 'correction' much like the socialist system has has had to go through...AND anyone suggesting the new socialist leader in that country is responsible for their current mess...well that would be incorrect as it was a capitalist mess they inherited.. I agree totally ...keep pushing to upgrade our DT's...we definitely have to make ourselves better in that dept. Tracker 1

I agree totally ...keep pushing to upgrade our DT's...we definitely have to make ourselves better in that dept. Greece's problems are neither capitalist or socialist. All their problems stem from the fact that everyone wants to work only two hours a day, pay no taxes, and retire at 45 on a full pension. Somehow no one in Greece is capable of doing basic math, otherwise they would see their way of life is unsustainable. When you stop working for a living and just vote for a living you end up like Greece. They never should have been let into the EU. Tracker 1
Stickem Posted July 1, 2015 Report Posted July 1, 2015 Maybe Italy, who owes zillions and Ireland and a few others who use the euro shouldn't have been allowed in either....Pretty sure they are well entrenched in the capital system...Gonna be some huge ramifications my friend...Let the correction begin.....AND go get em Bombers tomorrow...we're about to do a little correcting ourselves...

When you stop working for a living and just vote for a living you end up like Greece. They never should have been let into the EU. Right on. The problems have been years in the making, pretty much the same as California where a certain Austrian-born governor managed the economy by cutting taxes (always popular) and borrowing to cover state expenses. California has been broke for about a decade but no one wants to call the markers in, but Greece has not had any such luck. Iceland tried the same approach. And by the way, the financial advisor Greece has had on retainer for the past 12 years is....Goldman Sachs. kelownabomberfan 1

Not sure what that means. You would prefer they were "entrenched" in a communist system? It doesn't matter what system you are entrenched in if your people don't want to pay income taxes, and the government can't be bothered to collect them, or enforce income tax laws. It also doesn't matter what system you are in when your people decide they want everything for nothing, and think they are entitled to it. You are pretty much screwed at that point. Have a look at the Roman Empire at its peak. Why did it fail? Because everyone stopped working for a living, and just had a big party, and they became so soft that they were easy prey for other warring nations that just tore the entire empire apart. If you want some insight into the Greek mind, just look at how other countries have planned for and built infrastructure for the Olympics. They always build with a future plan to use the infrastructure, or move it somewhere else. They have a plan. Greece didn't have a plan for their 2004 Olypmics. They just built these massive stadiums with hundreds of millions of borrowed euros, and now they are all just rotting, unused. Typical Greek planning. That's why that country is so screwed. They have become the welfare case of Europe.

Mark F Posted July 2, 2015 Report Posted July 2, 2015 how bout the USA? Pontiac Silverdome built 1975 for 55 million by the city for the lions, who kindly left twenty five years later. Leaving the City a massive white elephant. sold for five hundred thousand dollars, now abandoned, and falling apart. Recently gone broke City of Detroit was fortunately able to chip in to build a new arena for the Lions to move to. The lions owned by Someone in the Ford family, who undoubtedly need the help, while the other folks in Detroit, can go screw themselves when their city gets auctioned off. Olympics no matter where held, are a feast for a few people, and a financial sore for the rest. Forest fire smoke is starting to bother me. also, went for a walk, just picked off five ticks. probably some more hiding on me somewhere. Update… found another tick.
