The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 We've seen speculation on what Buff wants so lets assume the Jets have had at least cursory talks with the agent. Ladd is more important and surely impacts an offer to Buff. Get Ladd signed. Then move on to Buff. It could be they've decided to trade Buff and have been quietly working on it.

That's where I differ. My opinion is they are both equally important to this team for similar and unique reasons which will be challenging to replace based on current market availability.

Myers is a more consistent D-man than Buff. Younger, cheaper. Buff is better offensively right now but Myers' has more long term upside. Having Myers, along with Trouba's development makes Buff expendable.

I'd love to deal the guy if you could get the right kinda return.
Goalie Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff will be moved. One day Ladd little wheeler Enstrom will be too. The nature of the beast. One step back to take 2 forward seems to be the way it might go. The transition to the younger core of scheif Lowry trouba myers Morrissey Ehlers Petan etc will happen one day. I see no point in getting upset if they trade buff or Ladd or both. They won't be Jets forever. I was young but I remember the day Teemu was traded. That hurt lots actually as I loved that guy as a kid. Teemu did more for that Jets team than any current jet has done. If he can be moved or if the oilers can trade Gretzky, anybody can be. And you move on. Your current favorite players are replaced by new ones.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 If Ladd signs a long term deal with the Jets, I could see him staying a Jet for life. Even if at 36/37 he isnt that good, Jets will keep him around. He will get the Mike Keane treatment. Teemu was the victim of idiot American owners who couldnt afford both Teemu and Keith Tkachuk and kept the wrong player. For Buff: Mid six talented winger, Top 4 D, top prospect
Goalie Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff.. I'd take first round pick plus top 4 LHD prospect
Noeller Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff.. I'd take first round pick plus top 4 LHD prospect Well, sure, and I'd take a Lotto Max win..........
The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff.. I'd take first round pick plus top 4 LHD prospect Well, sure, and I'd take a Lotto Max win.......... I think the ask is actually too low in this scenario. Ducky 1
Noeller Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff gets you one or the other......not both.
sweep the leg Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff.. I'd take first round pick plus top 4 LHD prospect Well, sure, and I'd take a Lotto Max win.......... Buff would get us a very good return. Look at what dmen were going for at the deadline, & none of them were as good as Buff.
sweep the leg Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff gets you one or the other......not both. Think it through. Antoine Vermette was worth a 1st rounder. Do you think any team wouldn't trade Vermette for Buff?
Floyd Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Still predicting he goes to Philadelphia... Buff and a prospect Jamie Phillips(?) for Couturier, Provorov and a 1st The Unknown Poster 1
Brandon Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff will net great value if traded... We would be in the driver seat for that trade.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Not sure the origin of this one, but chatter is Jets are one of the teams talking to Antropov...
Floyd Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Not sure the origin of this one, but chatter is Jets are one of the teams talking to Antropov... Talking as in asking him why he never applied himself...? How someone that big can play without hitting anyone? Getting tips on buying Khazak carpets?
Atomic Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Not sure the origin of this one, but chatter is Jets are one of the teams talking to Antropov... Oh god kill me now. Why why why. Hope that's false.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 PS: Floyd, I like her Buff to Philly suggestion. Philly has long been linked to Buff in trade rumours. And that Provorov looks great. Would cement our LHD for the next 15 years. getting Couturier would finally render the "which one was the better pick, Couturier or Schief" moot.
The Unknown Poster Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Not sure the origin of this one, but chatter is Jets are one of the teams talking to Antropov... Oh god kill me now. Why why why. Hope that's false. I guess it would make Burmi happy...lol But why on earth would he want to be here? To play 4th line winger?
sweep the leg Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Still predicting he goes to Philadelphia... Buff and a prospect Jamie Phillips(?) for Couturier, Provorov and a 1st This seems a little much on the opposite side of the spectrum. No way Philly would ever give us that much. Ducky 1
bustamente Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Buff is over rated by us jets fans and going into the last year of his contract that will not benefit us in a trade. Sign him to a 6yr 7 million dollar contract and then shop him around. If not keep him for the season and trade him at the deadline. Signed long term he will get us more in return. If Ladd signs long term his deal will include nmc and i can see him finishing his career here and that's not a bad thing. Noeller 1
Goalie Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Sekera got a 1st and high ranked D prospect. Buff gets the same if not more. Philly eh? I like it but more like sanheim plus 1st
Noeller Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 If we were able to get Provorov for Buff, straight up, I'd take it...... bustamente 1
bustamente Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 If we were able to get Provorov for Buff, straight up, I'd take it...... Would do this deal in a heartbeat, philly just doesn't have the cap space Noeller 1
Goalie Posted August 20, 2015 Report Posted August 20, 2015 Cap dump from Philly. Luke Schenn. 1 year remaining. Philly isn't that close to the cap. Not as close as ppl think. 1st Sanheim L schenn
