Fatty Liver Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 According to a CFL source, the Blue and Gold have agreed to terms with pivot Dominique Davis, who was in training camp with the Calgary Stampeders this month.Winnipeg already has four quarterbacks under contract: Drew Willy, Brian Brohm and Robert Marve are active for Saturday?s season opener against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and Josh Portis is on the one game injured list but healthy enough to play.Davis, who is 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, completed nine of 10 attempts for 75 yards and a touchdown in Calgary?s first pre-season game. He also had three carries for 11 yards. The 25-year-old played at Boston College, Fort Scott Community College and East Carolina before signing with the Atlanta Falcons and spending two years in the NFL. He tried to latch on with the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts last season but didn?t last long with either club. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2015/06/26/winnipegger-nic-demksis-gone-all-green-now-that-hes-with-roughriders
deflated balls Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Probably sending Portis (wish it was Brohm) to the Als, given their injury situation. Interested to see what he can do with the Bombers; certainly doesn't have anyone like Matt Ryan here to learn from but.......
M.O.A.B. Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Are they moving Marve and promoting Portis on the 44?
rebusrankin Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Wonder who were are moving and what we are getting? StudentSection 1
gbill2004 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Dominique Davis East Carolina Ht. 6-3 Wt. 215 Strengths: Davis has tremendous accuracy in the short to middle range throws. He’s an above average athlete that can pose a dual threat to defenses. He possesses a nice, compact throwing motion and is capable of getting the ball out quickly. Has NFL bloodlines as his brother is former Bears tight end Desmond Clark. Weaknesses: Davis lacks the arm strength to fit balls into tight spots and doesn’t throw with the necessary velocity to throw the deep out in tight coverage in the NFL. His deep ball has a tendency to float and tries to fit balls into tight windows. His decision-making is questionable at times and struggled in big games throughout his career at ECU. His mechanics and footwork need improvement to play in the NFL. He regresses from a mechanics standpoint under pressure which leads to mistakes with the ball. Bottom Line: Davis will need a lot of work to be successful in the NFL. He is not likely to be much more than a career backup but could be worth a look late in the draft.

Doesn't sound super impressive but who knows, maybe they're bringing him in for a cup of coffee and next year. When a jump ball is featured in your highlight package, you don't have much of a highlight package.
gbill2004 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Dominique Davis School: East Carolina Position: QB Bio: Boston College transfer who started at East Carolina the past two seasons. All-conference choice as a junior. Totals last year included 67.6%/3225 yards/25 TDs/19 interceptions after he had 64.5%/3167/37/16 as a junior. Positive: Athletic quarterback with solid physical skills. Patient in the pocket, buys time for receivers and gets rid the ball with a flick of his wrist. Elusive, scrambles away from the rush and easily gets outside the pocket to make the throw on the move. Knows where his receivers are on the field, effectively commands the offense and possesses a live arm. Displays good speed on throws and gets the deep pass downfield with good velocity. Negative: Slow to move his eyes off the primary target and telegraphs passes. Holds the ball too long in the pocket. Steps out of throws or often releases the ball off his back foot. Puts passes up for grabs. Analysis: Davis is a raw prospect who is still rough around the edges in all aspects of his game. His arm strength ability and the ability to make all the throws will get Davis consideration for a practice squad.
Captain Blue Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Hopefully this means they are moving a QB for something (likely not much). He's an athletic QB, having him, Marve and Portis seems redundant. They all bring the same skill set to the table I think.
Mark F Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 League helping Montreal out. which is good if that's what's happening.
gbill2004 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 League helping Montreal out. which is good if that's what's happening. League helping Montreal?
Fatty Liver Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 Brohm is a career back up with little upside, I'll be happy if the Bombers help out the Als by sending him there. Blue-urns 1
Jpan85 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 I thought Davis looked not bad in the Stamps first pre season game
deflated balls Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Brohm for Edem! I'd settle for a "thank-you"! Mark F 1
gbill2004 Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 My guess is the Als would want Brohm but we're offering Marve or Portis.
Floyd Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 My guess is that we're not trading any QB and all of this is forum blah blah. mbrg, Goalie, TBURGESS and 4 others 7

do or die Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 We may of found our Hail Mary specialist....
Fatty Liver Posted June 27, 2015 Author Report Posted June 27, 2015 If the Als are going to play hardball, we'll throw in Marcel to keep Brohm company. Floyd 1
Floyd Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 He'll really fill that QB sneak/throwing into triple coverage gap that we've had since Goltz left. Fatty Liver 1

Mr Dee Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 Not quite the QB DD I was looking for. Two possibilities: We're moving a QB (unlikely - when has anybody traded for one of our QBs?) Or, more likely, the Bombers were not satisfied with their QB stable and are keeping their eyes downfield for a real prospect. Either way, I'm glad the Bombers are still looking. Logan007 1
wbbfan Posted June 27, 2015 Report Posted June 27, 2015 IMOP buh bye brohm. willy 1, marve 2, portis 3, this guy on the PR as developmental player.
