As far as Ottawa receivers are concerned, I'd take Ellingson over Price, Jackson over Price, Sinopoli over Price, and even Paden over Price.

Not disputing the call at all, just don't like the punishment of automatic 1st down on the one.  Too often It allows teams to score when they can't earn the TD, it's a crutch play used to get them into the endzone.  Would rather it be changed to a 10 yd. penalty with auto first down, fair for all and it wouldn't change the results of a game as drastically.

If it was a 10 yd penalty, you see more pass interference than less.  Anytime a DB would be wbeat they'd tackle the receiver (or screen) and take the 10 yard penalty.

Ottawa's for real. Should have gone with the stats instead of my gut.

Cato throws across his body for a bad Int then tosses one deep middle even though there's no Als in the picture for a second one.

I hate when TSN interviews folks and ignores the play going on. Some high school kid and a CIS coach? Who cares?

2 challenges that shouldn't have been challenged. Slows the game down.

Ottawa picked on Hefney all night long and he wasn't up to the task.

Burris had a great night and receivers made some highlight catches.

Montreal keeps losing by 3 or 4. Close but no cigar.

CFL Pace of games up this year...

2015 Overall: 2:53:29 (2014 to Week #6: 2:56:38)

2015 Week #1-3 Average: 2:56:25

2015 Week #4-6 Average: 2:50:40 (a decrease of over 3% from Weeks #1-3)

Penalties Update: After hitting the low mark in Week #4 at 23.0 per game, the weekly average has crept back up to just under 25 calls per game for Weeks #5-6. The cumulative average however still dropped to a season-low of 26.33 per game to date. There were only 9 roughness calls all of last week – the lowest weekly total for that category for any week in the last 3 years.

One trend is emerging that is really obvious: that winning clubs are drawing fewer penalties of late. Over the last 3 weeks, winning clubs have drawn 10.7 penalties per game; losing teams are up there at 13.5 – about three extra flags per game. And the key is that those calls turn into field position, lost long gainers, or extended opponent drives very quickly.

East-West Update: Week #7 holds two more Inter-Divisional games; the count thus far favours the East 8 wins to 6. The East has not won the season series over the West since 2004.

Attendance: Week #6 was by far the season’s best attendance week averaging 29,435 per game – 19% higher than the average crowd across CFL Weeks #1-5. Over the last 9 CFL games, the league-wide average is 27,742 per game.

Predicting outcomes – 40% for underdogs: Across the 20 games from Week #2 to Week #6, the team with the poorer record heading into the game has won 8 out of the 20 contests (40%).

SASKATCHEWAN at TORONTO

Two takeaways only: Saskatchewan has only two Takeaways in 2015 made up of just one interception, no fumble recoveries and one opponent T/O on downs. That is a pace for just 6 forced turnovers in 2015, 19 less than the CFL record for fewest forced in one season (Edmonton 2006: 25).

-Toronto dominated Hamilton in the stats category including 5 turnovers in the 2nd half..leading to a loss.

-Toronto drew 18 penalties in last week’s game, and are now tied for #8 at 14.60 per game. At that pace, the Argos would just surpass the CFL’s all-time record for most penalties in a single season.

-Trevor Harris on 1st Down: At one point last week at Hamilton, Harris completed 11 consecutive 1st down passes and ended up 20-for-24 on first down plays for 228 yards. Harris’ first down passer rating is ... 83-of-109, 76.2%, 2 Ints, 9 TD, Rating: 121.5. On second down passes, Harris is 49-of-68 for 552 yards, 2 Ints, 3 TDs and a Rating of 98.4.

-Red Zone: The Argos continue to lead the CFL with a Red Zone TD% of 71% cashing a league-high 12 TDs inside the 20 in 17 opportunities. Last week, Toronto went 2-of-4 inside Hamilton’s 20.

-When they make “big plays”: In Toronto’s three wins this year they have made 11 long-gainers; in their two defeats they had 4.

-Vidal Hazelton: Recorded a career-high 134 receiving yards last week on 10 receptions, a CFL-high for any player in 2015. He

surpassed Adarius Bowman’s high mark with 18 targets in the game at Hamilton (Bowman had 16 twice earlier this year).

-Young trio: The first-year threesome of Hazelton, Kevin Elliott and Tori Gurley combined for 19 catches and 225 yards last week

including 76 YAC yards and two second down conversions each. It was their highest cumulative single-game contribution.

NEWS & NOTES:

 Argonauts running back Brandon Whitaker currently ranks second in the East Division in yards from scrimmage with 453. In the Argonauts last meeting with the Riders, Whitaker compiled 116 combined yards and a touchdown on 14 touches.

 Argos DB Devin Smith will celebrate his 25th birthday this Saturday when the Boatmen host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their home-opener.

 In the first two weeks of the season Argos SB Chad Owens had 15 receptions for 187 yards and a touchdown, including eight receptions and 88 yards and touchdown vs. the Roughriders in week 2. Since the Argonauts week 2 overtime thriller, Owens has only 11 receptions for 97 yards over the last three games – an average of 3.6 receptions for 32.3 yards per game.

 Through five games, Argonauts QB Trevor Harris has targeted Vidal Hazelton 40 times and connected with him 26 times – completing passes to the rookie at a 65% rate.

 Argos kicker Ronnie Pfeffer has hit eight consecutive field goals. The rookie hasn’t missed a field goal attempt since 14:35 in the fourth quarter of the Argonauts week 2 win over Saskatchewan, which was his first career CFL game.

 Argos LB Greg Jones has continued to rack up defensive tackles as the weeks go by. Last week vs. Hamilton, Jones notched six defensive tackles to lead the Boatmen. In the Double Blue’s last meeting with the Riders, Jones compiled nine defensive tackles to lead the Argonauts.

Still in with a chance: Despite a number of close losses and an Injury List that seen 21 different players spend at least one game there, the Riders remain only one win behind BC for fourth place in the West and three back of Winnipeg. As far as Winnipeg is concerned, the traditional double-header around Labour Day gives them the opportunity with a sweep to get back to within one win of the Blue Bombers.

Personally I don't like their chances with their rookie QBs. Mind you, the Bombers don't don't exactly have a stellar recorded, lately, against newbies.

-The Riders lead the CFL in a key stat – average gain on first down play at 7.3 yards.

-Messam & Allen carries: Messam rushed 19 times in Week #2, but since then over the last four games, he has just 25 rushes in total. He is averaging a remarkable 7.4 yards per carry. Anthony Allen’s carry total has fallen each of the last four weeks from 10, to 7, to 5 and last week to 3 runs for no net gain.
