JuranBoldenRules Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 15 maybe 19 first downs. Hard to see on the phone exactly. 280 passing. 54 rushing. 2 interceptions. Those numbers aren't that impressive at all. Those are Hamiltons numbers. D played well. You left out the three TD passes... Once you realize that Ham offence barely had the ball in the first quarter, those are good numbers. Two of our sacks were only because Collaros was looking end zone in the last minute of the half Where was Hamilton on the field when those plays happened? Pretty sure they weren't reaching the endzone, even if they could have pulled Michael Bishop off his couch for those two plays.

Collaros is looking to go deep and still had time in the pocket, on the second down, he eventually checks down but still was looking. can't recall many plays in this game where the pocket collapsed on him
Mr Dee Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 And Rod Black babbling every time Hamilton got a sack....but did he mention, even once, when the Bombers did? No. Hamilton 7 sacks. Winnipeg 5 sacks.
Rod Black Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 We beat teams that we should be beating. We've only lost to teams that currently have winning records. Friday night, this week, we should have an entertaining battle at IGF. You won't see it, but Miiler is a scary effen guy when angry. Kind of lighting a fire to resolve the deficiencies. If Toronto gives away the game with penalties and we don't go there, essentially like a clean game today, we have a very good chance of a home win. All bets are off though if Willy and Darvin Adams are not playing. Fatty Liver 1

TBURGESS Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 We've beaten 0 teams above .500, 1 team at .500 and 2 teams below .500. We are one of the 3 teams below .500.

If we can win 7 or 8 games in the next eleven, we should make the playoffs. I doubt that a 9 and 9 season even with crossover potential gets us there with three teams in the east already with 4 wins. Gonna have to start counting the free squares on the bingo cards to see what our chances are for the post season.

Atomic Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 9-9 will make the playoffs. Remember cross over must have a better record. So unless all 4 teams in the east finish 10-8 or above, 9-9 in the west gets in.
Mark F Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 well that would be something, if we can't beat them. riders i mean. for what it's worth I think they are a lot better than their record.
rebusrankin Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 9-9 should get you in. The crossover team would have to have a better record and Montreal is all ready 2 games back and has lost the season series to Ottawa. I think the goal is finish ahead of B.C., Saskatchewan and the Als. Need to beat the Als again, B.C. again and get at least one versus the Riders.

Isn't that what you meant?

Well, somebody is gonna get scrooged in the home and home with the Roughies. Might be Chamblin. If either team sweeps the series, somebody's head will roll.
KptKrunch Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 In retrospect, giving a struggling team to a rookie head coach whose experience was mainly defence and special teams was probably a mistake. An experienced and formerly successful head coach like Tom Higgins would likely have given confidence to the team and also resulted in better choices in assistant coaches. We're paying for O'Shea's learning curve and unfortunately it looks like it is going to be a long one. perhaps too long for the team. If the team does not do better than .500 and make the playoffs, O'Shea's future has to be questioned. His decision to leave Willy in after a disasterous first half resulting in an almost absolute certainty of a bad loss was boneheaded. We still got handled and now Willy is sidelined again, perhaps for an extended period which will probably mean a 6 or 8 win season at best and no playoff appearance. Even Ottawa with their GM whom we mocked got a whole lot better since last year and the Riders put up more of a fight in their last game than we did. Funny - i was one of the few who was wanting Higgins as the GM or coach here after the Burke/Mack fiasco - most here said no thanks (though TBH I was looking at him more as a GM than a coach at that point). But you know what - I don't mind O'Shea - he's learning yes, he makes mistakes yes, but I think he is getting the most he can out of this team, we just aren't that good yet CodyT 1

The only way 9-9 won't get you into the playoffs is if everyone is 9-9, but that's just not going to happen. Riders are going to lose an awful lot more games before the year is done, the eastern teams will start playing each other more and they won't all stay above .500. The Western teams likewise will start beating each other more. Everyone over reacted to the early records last year too, not sure when people are going to realize what a long season we have here and how many things change come fall time.
blueandgoldguy Posted August 10, 2015 Report Posted August 10, 2015 Since the crossover came into effect way back when, there has never been a team with an 8-10 record that has not made the playoffs. In an 8 team league, there can only be a total of 72 wins; in a 9 team league 81 wins. With 6 of 8 or 6 of 9 teams making the playoffs, it would require extremely unusual circumstances for an 8 win team to NOT make the playoffs (again, with the crossover). If the Bombers win 8, they should qualify, whether that is as a crossover team in the east, or the third place team in the west.
