Rich Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 The #Als have announced the firing of head coach Tom Higgins. General manger @PoppJim will take over the team. — Herb Zurkowsky (@HerbZurkowsky1) August 21, 2015
Mr. Perfect Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Circus. That's all you can say. Higgins is no genius but he certainly didn't deserve to be fired, and Popp's track record as a head coach is mediocre at best. Jaxon, Blue-urns, wbbfan and 3 others 6
Rich Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 Nice present after beating BC SPuDS 1
Captain Blue Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 This is crazy. And not even Thorpe taking over. Blue-urns 1
gbill2004 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 So with those QBs and coming off a big win? Very strange...
gbill2004 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I suspect this has more to do with the handling of Sam and Bowman. KptKrunch, Noeller, blitzmore and 1 other 4
JuranBoldenRules Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I found how they handled their QB's very odd last night. A couple times Cato finally got into rhythm and then they'd toss Marsh out there to run option, have one decent play and then one negative play, punt. They should have pummeled BC last night.
kelownabomberfan Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Get Higgins on the first plane to Winnipeg. Tracker, FrostyWinnipeg, IC Khari and 1 other 4
kelownabomberfan Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I suspect this has more to do with the handling of Sam and Bowman. Do we even know how it was "handled" and what even happened??
Noeller Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 I suspect this has more to do with the handling of Sam and Bowman. Do we even know how it was "handled" and what even happened?? My first thought was absolutely "Bowman sitting the past couple weeks must have something to do with this".......he's one of Popp's boys, so you gotta wonder. Man oh man, what a gonger......
Goalie Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Dave Naylor makes a good point there to the right on the twitter feed... Popp never hired Higgins... Noeller 1
pigseye Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Quick and painless, no board to go to first for permission or any of that BS, the guy in charge actually make decisions, I envy them.
pigseye Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Get Higgins on the first plane to Winnipeg. Guys a bum, some of those qb antics last night were just ridiculous, Bowman was just the icing on the cake Popp needed to deep six him.
Goalie Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Quick and painless, no board to go to first for permission or any of that BS, the guy in charge actually make decisions, I envy them. Not exactly. You do realize Popp wasn't the guy that hired Higgins in the first place tho right? Not exactly what you last little sentence implies at all. Regardless tho, Locker Room issues are the end of a coach, regardless of how they happened or if it had to do with Sam or Bowman or whoever, the second you have locker room issues and Montreal has this entire season, as a coach, It's only a matter of time. You are supposed to run that locker room, sounds like the players were. What that means is the inmates are running the asylum. Only a matter of time really...

bb1 Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Agree with KBF get Higgins here Stat no way mwe do worse with this guy over MOS.Make Higgins HC Mos can be our Sp coach we instantly get better.

Guys a bum, some of those qb antics last night were just ridiculous, Bowman was just the icing on the cake Popp needed to deep six him. Yup. No thanks, the guy lost his locker room, he's supposed to be the guy in charge but it was pretty apparent that the players were running the asylum. No thanks to coaches like that. Higgins can go back to the CFL office really, just keep him away from Winnipeg. blitzmore 1
Noeller Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Firing MOS for Higgins is literally the dumbest thing we, as an organization, could do. Firing MOS for just about anyone would be pretty dumb... Jaxon, Blue-urns, Goalie and 7 others 10

You can't argue with the track record of success amigo.
DR. CFL Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Higgins interviewed for the GM job here and took a pass.
pigseye Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Higgins interviewed for the GM job here and took a pass. That sounds familiar, just another bad decision his part, lol.
Goalie Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Bob Whetenhall isn't the reason for "success" in Montreal, Jim Popp is.. to a lesser extent, Anthony Calvillo and a weak ass east division for years was another reason. I don't like when Owners get involved, all i know if i OWNED a team, i wouldn't get involved in football related decisions, that's for sure.. that's not really my job.. I hire a GM to do that for me.. I mean really, What's the point in having a GM if your owner is the defacto GM anyway.
Mark F Posted August 21, 2015 Report Posted August 21, 2015 Montreal on the road to long term ignominy. Popp coaching record wasn't very good. now we'll see how "good" their fans are. JohnnyOnTheSpot 1
