Goalie Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 WR Mike Willie - sounds familliar... dunno why but that name sounds familliar * edit* it's because he was cut earlier this year. AND OL - Sam Longo. Mark F 1
gbill2004 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Scouting report on Sam Longo: Positive: Ohio State transfer who moved into the starting role at Cincinnati last season. Tall blocker who displays ability in motion. Plays with good lean, keeps his feet moving, and works his hands throughout the action. Stays square and uses good body positioning to seal defenders from the play. Quick off the snap, better than average skills pulling across the line of scrimmage, and effective on the second level. Works blocks and plays through the whistle. Negative: Sets with a narrow base. Lacks great footwork in space. Average strength and struggles handling larger linemen. Analysis: Longo did a solid job at Cincinnati after spending most of his career on the bench at Ohio State. He's a developmental prospect with the underlying ability to backup in a zone-blocking system.
gbill2004 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 New #Bomber OT Sam Longo benched 225 pounds a whopping 47 times at his pro day in 2014. #CFL
wbbfan Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 thats pretty impressive for some one with average strength... sweep the leg and Mark F 2

AKAChip Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 I love me some Mike Willie. StudentSection 1
gbill2004 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Now we have a Willy, Wiley and Willie.
Stickem Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Willy to Willie.....Will he make the line-up or won't he....I guess if he's wiley....no he's the o line guy....geez I'm confused...
WBBFanWest Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Great, just great. Longo sets with a narrow base. Just once, couldn't Walters find someone who sets with a wide base? I mean, come on, what is he thinking... Blitzy and CodyT 2
Tracker Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Willie sounds like he ought to be a threat in the CFL- big, fast, and a devastating downfield blocker. The Chargers and Ravens seem to have thought highly of him.
Bomber_fanaddict Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Now we have a Willy, Wiley and Willie. With all these Willies on the team our female fan base should be expected to double...
LeBird Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 What do they mean when they say he sets with a narrow base? Feet together? Good with the other except this team is starting to give us the willies.
Goalie Posted August 24, 2015 Author Report Posted August 24, 2015 Not to be that guy but... Willy and willie are pronounced the same but Wylie is not... that's like Wylie Coyote really. Why am i not shocked tho that Gbill was going on about Willies again tho.... gbill2004 1
Mark F Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 need a receiver that'll block. don't think our current bunch do much of that for the running game, or for the screen pass. like to hear from someone about that. JBR or somebody.
AKAChip Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Honestly, Willie was always the most impressive receiver to me when I watched TC. He's just solid in so many areas. I had a feeling they'd cut him anyway since it appeared they had no real interest in keeping the new guys around so I'm thrilled to see him back. Plus he wears a dark visor which we can all agree is pretty sharp. Mark F 1

17to85 Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 What do they mean when they say he sets with a narrow base? Feet together? Good with the other except this team is starting to give us the willies. Think about it, stand with your feet close together and see how stable you are, then widen your stance and see how it changes. Your feet are your base, if it's too narrow you lose balance and power.

Your feet are your base, if it's too narrow you lose balance and power. I thought that would be what it was but then surely in all the years he has played someone would have taught him to widen his stance. Seems a rather trivial thing to fix yet it leads the list of negatives. Thanks for the reply.
Atomic Posted August 24, 2015 Report Posted August 24, 2015 Willie had one catch for 12 yards in the first preseason game and one catch for 13 yards in the second game. FYI.
bb1 Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Ok I'm going to put a positive spin on Willie maybe he wasn't 100 % and now they want to bring him back to bust loose? There I tried.☺ Tracker and MOBomberFan 2
AKAChip Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Or they had a ton of receivers getting reps in the pre-season games and racking up numbers with limited reps and multiple qbs is difficult...
