wookie Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Brohm reminds me of a good golfer who can hit all the shots on the practice range, but when it counts he can not pull the trigger, he has a great arm, other wise he would not have been drafted in the 2nd rd of the nfl, just has that mental block that does not allow him to be sure of himself, it looks like he lacks confidence in himself, has the tools, but for some reason has never showed up a game i am guessing this is the game or he gone
Jesse Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Brohm just one-hopped a pass, followed by a Davis pick (sound of clearing throat). #Bombers God. What a useless tweet. Friesen had his back turned away from the field of play to talk to Ed and Bob (although I will say they were all there the entire practice today - must have been to see Nichols). That one-hopper was literally the only miss Brohm had during the first half of practice and could easily have been the receiver not coming back at the appropriate depth. Floyd 1
Mr Dee Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Brohm just one-hopped a pass, followed by a Davis pick (sound of clearing throat). #Bombers Paul Friesen ✔ @friesensunmedia Brohm just one-hopped a pass, followed by a Davis pick (sound of clearing throat). #Bombers I saw the one hop but that was as much the REC fault as Brohm's it was a much longer throw the WR was wide open and should have come back to the ball but the REC was S L E E P I N G , yes Brohm could have made a better throw but the REC has more than enough time to adjust to the ball IMO, and the more I watch practice the more I think we have a REC problem as much as a QB problem...Brohm actually made some nice throws and looked like the best QB on the field today.. and Brohm did look decent with in his only CFL start before he got hurt so I am hopeful he will be much better than he has been.... Thank you for putting the "one hop throw" into perspective - Friesen wouldn't do that. Of course we have all seen the short hoppers thrown by Brohm, but it would be nice to have some balance in reports from the media, at these practices, that most of us cannot attend. Sooo much negativity. I guess it's just easier to roll that way. Be nice if we were pleasantly surprised...
Westy Sucks Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 If ever there is to be a moment when Brohm's entire football career flashes before his eyes, it had better be this Sunday when he runs onto the field to start the last game of his professional career. Brohm is done. I bet he craps the bed in Regina - and NIchols comes in and wins the game (or gets us close to a win and then wins in the Banjo Bowl). At that point - Brohm will be gone - and will never be seen in pro football again. Good riddance. OF course, a much more likely scenario is Brohm stinks, Nichols goes in, and gets pulverized by Chick, his bad leg is wrecked again and he's out for the year, and we're back stuck with Brohm. That's a very real possibility.

Westy Sucks Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Just the fact that Brohm is still here is the problem... he should have been cut long time ago, at least Michael Bishop could complete a pass Brohm is 30 and has not put together one drive this season. If his mind is broken, well, thats life... Epic fail by Walters and crew I have to say. And at least Bishop was "wildly" entertaining! for good or bad. Anyone remember when he ran into his own OL and knocked himself out? that was awesome! He also made some mind blowing throws! That guy sure could rifle that ball Bigblue204 1
Goalie Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Get used to brohm cuz with Marve on the 6 game... Brohm is sticking around

Floyd Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Get used to brohm cuz with Marve on the 6 game... Brohm is sticking around Once Brohm bounces through the first half, Davis throws four INTs and then Nichols gets annihilated behind our OL... Marve might make a miraculous recovery...
Tracker Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 Marve has been 6 gamed? Apparently the earlier report was in error.
Jacquie Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Marve has been 6 gamed? Apparently the earlier report was in error. CFL Transactions has Marve being put on the 6 game.

I couldn't believe it, then in the post game interview Bishop says ''I wasn't knocked out, I was just a little tingly.'' Absolutely hilarious stuff. Westy Sucks and Floyd 2
Fatty Liver Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Yet when Willy was the QB and i'm not defending MB's playbook but when Willy was the QB, he'd throw for 300 yards basically every game. Gotta sometimes realize that Marve and Brohm for that matter, they just aren't very good. Get a grip on reality. In the first blowout vs TiCats Drew Willy was a whopping 3 of 6 for 48 yards and zero TDs. In the next game vs Esks Willy was a masterful 7-17 for 81 yards. Next blowout vs TiCats Willy was 16-27 for 171 yards with one TD and one INT for a pick 6. As Winnipeg's starter Willy produced a total of 8 TDs in 7 games, before his injury. He had virtually the same QB passer rating as rookie Rakeem Cato, who, at that point, had played one less game. Winnipeg's O production has been mostly putrid, with the occasional big-play exception, regardless of who is in at QB since around the the halfway point of last year. Injured. Injured. Injured. Yeah, Doublezero, you really need to check the facts before you post. He got injured in each of those outings like Goalie said. You act like he threw for 48 yards in 4 quarters. And btw, that 171 yards was 2 quarters before he wrecked his knee. So he was on his way to 300. Do you even watch the games? OK here are the actual numbers: in 17 starts in 2014 Drew Willy threw for an average of 224 yards per game. In seven starts in 2015 Drew Willy threw for an average of 161 yards per game, True the 2015 numbers are skewed by Willy's unfortunate injuries in 3 games he couldn't finish. But before you tell me Willy's numbers are through the roof here's a somewhat telling number for you: in 24 games as the Bombers starting QB Drew Willy has thrown 22 TDs and 19 INTS, that's less than one TD per game and not good enough to win consistently in this league. When Bombers won a few games way back at the start of 2014 it was due to big help from special teams and defence scoring points off turnovers. That's the truth. Our production on O and at the QB position has been pretty paltry, Willy included. Good analysis, but statisitcs do not address the times that Willy was playing hurt and/or scared with an O-line which offered the protection of Kleenex and a receiving corps which was, to put it kindly, sub-par and in a cnstant state of flux. And then there was a certain offensive coordinator..... For sure. I was simply responding to the original poster who said Willy often throws for 300 yards. I will say this: I haven't bought a #5 jersey. Whatcha got against Ralph?

Goalie Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 It's probably more of a collaborative effort. I'm sure all coaches have a say... MB and the QB coach included
Harbaugh Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 I've been to the last eight LDCs and I'm still on the fence about this year. I can get tickets and leave tomorrow morning, but of all signs are still pointing to Brohm starting this evening I'll save my money/time this year.

Looking at the past couple years, I'd say the Asst Coaches have a fair amount of say in personnel... Still, its Walters who should make the final decision - starting to look like things are a bit too 'collaborative'
Harbaugh Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 So if the plan is to have Nichols start next week, wouldn't giving him the entire LDC as a test drive maximize how ready he would be for the Banjo Bowl?
WBBFanWest Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 So if the plan is to have Nichols start next week, wouldn't giving him the entire LDC as a test drive maximize how ready he would be for the Banjo Bowl? Test drive? Ya, that would be completely reasonable. "Here Matt, here's the playbook, learn as much of it as you can in 3 days cause you're going in. Try not to suck it up too bad." With the patient fans of Winnipeg watching, what could possibly go wrong with that strategy? SPuDS and blitzmore 2
Mr Dee Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Not starting and not playing are two different things.
wbbfan Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 How different is Edmonton's offense, compared to ours? Vanilla vs vanilla flavored poop. I would rather see davis, or nichols start. What does it matter if you know the system when you cant execute it at the most basic level? Id bring back portis if hes just sittin around rather then put brohm back in there. Hell Id throw buck pierce in and i thought he was awful here xD Ducky 1
WBBFanWest Posted September 4, 2015 Report Posted September 4, 2015 Not starting and not playing are two different things. If a QB dresses, then there is always the potential of having to play, regardless of how ready he might be. But having said that, Nichols had next to zero time to learn the playbook and get some familiarity with his receiving corps. So to ask him to step in, baring something unforeseen, really wouldn't be a good plan. Especially when you consider that if he was to go in and look bad, which wouldn't be real surprising, a lot of fans are going to cut him exactly zero slack, and then the first time he makes a bad throw or a bad read during the Banjo Bowl, the average fan in the stands is going to react like the average fan.

And with the patient fans of Winnipeg watching it's only going to be worse with Brohm. Real game reps for Nichols this weekend has got to maximize our chances of winning the back end of this home and home. Rome wasn't built in a day, but they sure as hell didn't waste time with garbage like Brian Brohm.
