rebusrankin Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 I'd say competitive with Willy, best case 9/9. Still have holes on the OL, receiver etc.
17to85 Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 The entire season or am I missing something? Oh yeah, Stoudemire fumbled & we lost. Almost means what? Close only counts in horseshoes. As much as I'd like it to be, even with Willy we can't hang with Calgary over an entire season. They have too much talent on that roster that we don't have. Yeah, that game in July was close but I don't judge on just one game, sorry. I'm not sure if you understand the term competitive anymore. You own this site so you have the last word on everything. Yep, you're right. I'm wrong. That's the way it is as you're always right anyway. Let's just end this. You win. Good grief... it's not that he's just trying to get the last word, it's that he's trying to point out how you are misusing a word in your haste to rant and rave and slam the team. You are all over the map with your anger this year, he's right to take you to task for it. You're not really interested in what he has to say though, you're only interested in ranting and raving. Calm down, it's a nice day out in Calgary today, enjoy life.

Step 3: Iso gets called on it by another MBB member. Step 4: Iso whines and makes a big stink about how the person who called him on his anger is making it personal. **WE ARE HERE** Step 5: Iso apologizes about making a big deal out of it, says sorry for letting his emotions get the best of him. Rinse, wash, repeat. Let me know when we get to step 1 again, step 5 is worthless at this point.
blue fever Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Incredibly competitive? Just when I thought you & I maybe had reached some common ground. We aren't incredibly competitive with Willy. We are just competitive. We weren't in first place setting the CFL on fire when he got hurt like Collaros was in Hamilton. Without Willy, we seem lost at the qb position & everything that is bad about this football team just rears its ugly head. But who cares, this team was bound to fail just as Willy was bound to get hurt. Arguing about what ifs are a waste of time. BTW, I just read your post about MOS after I posted mine & I agree 100%.. Coaching is killing this team. That was a very good post, Mike. Haha wow, talk about arguing semantics! Okay then you explain... if you can't tell the difference. Let's say we lose to Calgary 28-27 this week... Person 1: well we were at least competitive in that game Person 2: we held up with the class of the league, this team is incredibly competitive... It's all perspective... that's all I'm saying i don't look upon it like that. Incredibly Competitive WERE the Ti Cats before Collaros got hurt coasting to the playoffs at full speed dismantling teams at home. Or the Stamps cruising along, maybe in close games but finding ways to win at the end. Competitive teams are those that win 1 lose 2 or win 2, lose 3 but are 8-10 or 9-9 at seasons end. We were 3-3 when Willy got hurt so we were competive. On any given day we could beat the best or lose to the worst. Willy gave us a chance to win every game but if people think we were good enough to hang with Hamilton or Calgary with Drew Willy before he was injured then they were wrong. ... we DID hang with Calgary. What part of that are you missing? Don't post often, but have to whole heartedly agree with this...in my opinion SHOULD have won IN Calgary, beat the Riders in Regina, and were down 4-3 at the half in Edmonton if I remember before Willy went out. That's a solid road showing in the first 3 games in tough places in my books. Also beat BC and MTL at home in that first 6 game stretch as well. That's a pretty darn good showing while Willy was the QB. The Hamilton game where he got hurt, they were already putting the boots us, but if everyone remembers, that was during a really hot stretch where they were killing everyone. Incredible or not, that's a level of competitive I can live with and appreciate.
LeBird Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Pregnant vs incredibly pregnant. See the difference? It's all a subjective perception. I agree with Mike, Willy makes a considerable difference but only if the OL feels like playing.

I'm really starting to wonder, do you talk to your wife, family, friends and colleagues like this? I mean, why can't anyone have a debate with you without getting filled with anger and sarcasm? Are you generally just an angry person? It's okay to be passionate, but it comes across in a very irate and outraged fashion more often than not, and it doesn't make people want to have civil conversations with you.
Goalie Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Agreed that with Willy we are a better team. Gonna add tho, I think getting rid of MB and his schemes would be a very good step in the right direction. Give Willy an OC who doesn't suck and who doesn't leave him back there to get killed and you will see a huge difference. I don't think our OLINE is as awful as they are made out to be, I think a lot of that is on the OC. Stanley Bryant hasn't been awful but he hasn't been great either, it's not like the guy just forgot to play football, it's the blocking schemes that are making him look average. He's a damn good player, an all star in this league for years, he comes here and he looks kind of not as good.. Is that on Bryant or is it on the OC? You look at the OLINE last year and people thought ok January sucked,Morley sucked, Greaves sucked... well all 3 are now gone but the OLINE still isn't that great... I don't think it's on the players as much as it is on the schemes they are being asked to run by the OC. Fire MB and this team is better. They do have some holes but the biggest is that A Hole MB. blitzmore 1
Tracker Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Perhaps there is a definition of competitive that we can agree on: for me, competitive means that the team is no less than .500 over a season and are still in the game at half-time. I could accept "incredibly competitive" as being no less than .500 and being no less than 6 points down at game's end and in a position to win at the end of the third quarter.
Mark F Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Not sure what's wrong with Iso's posts… The guy has much football experience and knowledge, and is informed about the team and the league. That is, he's someone who's opinion means something to me. Who cares how he phrases things? ( I for one, don't see any problem with his comments, he's generally much less insulting than the people that don't agree with him) As for the people that don't agree with him, haven't seen many, or any of them mention their experience and knowledge, so I have nothing to say about it. Another blunt poster whose comments seem to be accurate based on team outcomes, and transactions is Juranboldenrules. StevetheClub and pigseye 2

do or die Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 Have been giving Marcel a real hard time, for a long time, now. So, to balance the ledger....I want to say something positive about his schemes and gameplanning..... I really want to......... pigseye, Mark F and bearpants 3
Mark F Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 also, who cares if the team was competitive for a few games? really. The team has been consistently lousy since a third of the way through last season, and except for the few games of being "competitive" this season, (which includes beating winless Sask twice) they've been not very good at all. And the games Willy won for them, he had the tar beaten out of him. Obviously that won't work. Fatty Liver 1
Goalie Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 we aren't the only team who has beaten SASK twice tho.
do or die Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 We didn't score an offensive TD, in the Montreal win....

So, to balance the ledger....I want to say something positive about his schemes and gameplanning..... I really want to......... Here I'll help you out. Just for fun from a role playing point of view, what do you think O'Shea would say if he was required to do this but with full disclosure? (i.e., not how it answers the media with sound bytes).

He is all of those things, but he is also this season very emotional which leads to irrational arguments that he just keeps hammering away on even if other people show him to be in the wrong, at which point he takes it as a personal slight. I respect his opinion, but when he starts in the old man yelling at clouds act I just roll my eyes. SPuDS 1

Unfortunately, and I say this with no offense intended, you haven't been around long enough to have gone down the same road a million times before with Iso. When things are going fine, he's more than capable of having a civil conversation. When things are going bad? Heaven forbid you say something that goes against one of his rants. I wasn't kidding before when I said he follows the same schtick over and over again. He gets angry, he goes off on an emotional fueled rant, it gets called out, he plays the victim card, then he apologizes for his out of character behavior. It's an incredibly predictable pattern because many of us have seen it countless times before. Iso is very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he doesn't tend to draw from his experience and knowledge very often when things aren't going well. SPuDS 1
Noeller Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 That much emotion, at that age....if anything, it's made me re-evaluate things in my life.
