Rich Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I'll be at the game tonight. What do you think the chances are that I could convince the Bombers to play the Jets game on the Jumbotron. And if they did, what would be the percentage of people watching the live game or the screen? The Unknown Poster, rebusrankin and Harbaugh 3

What do you think the chances are that I could convince the Bombers to play the Jets game on the Jumbotron. And if they did, what would be the percentage of people watching the live game or the screen? Well they only use a third of the new screen anyway, so the odds may be in your favour. Rich 1
Harbaugh Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I just sold my Jets tickets for tonight, I have freebies to the Bomber game so I think I'm gonna go.
Mike Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 The reality is they just probably did inventory and went "holy **** we have a ton of these ugly jerseys left over" Gold Day was born.
Geebrr Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 It's almost disrespectful to the cause.
WinnipegGordo Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I received an email from Bombers only 3 days ago regarding this initiative: The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are asking fans to “Go Gold” on September 25th by wearing gold jerseys in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness month. Gold is the symbol of the fight to end childhood (pediatric) cancers, which are diagnosed in 1500 kids each year. This game will mark the third season the Bombers have supported Childhood Cancer Awareness month by partnering with Ribbons for Rylan, a non-profit organization that fundraises for CancerCare Manitoba Pediatrics, The Children’s Hospital Foundation and The Dream Factory. This is the first year the team will ask fans to wear gold, while showing their own support through an addition to the Bombers uniform kit. “For the first time, our team will wear a gold ribbon decal on their helmets to bring awareness to this worthwhile cause. We are thrilled to be able to support Childhood Cancer Awareness month in this way, and are confident fans will ‘Go Gold’ with us on September 25th,” said Hannah Rose Pratt, Winnipeg Blue Bombers Manager of Community Relations. In addition to wearing gold jerseys, fans can support the campaign by purchasing a gold hat in the Bomber Store, as the Bombers will donate $5.00 from each gold hat purchased to Ribbons for Rylan. Ribbons for Rylan is a group of family and friends raising funds and awareness to help fight childhood cancers; Rylan was a special boy who was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer when he was one year old, and passed away just before his second birthday. To further support the campaign to cure childhood cancers, the Bombers have donated 200 tickets to the September 25th home game to host families battling childhood cancers and life-threatening illnesses. The team visited the CK5 Pediatric Cancer ward at the Children’s Hospital on September 21st as a part of the Bombers’ regular monthly visits to meet families and sign autographs for children and youth who are hospitalized. On Friday, The Dream Factory and Ribbons for Rylan will have Childhood Cancer Awareness tables in the Tailgate at the Plaza by Duraco Windows before the game (outside of Gate 2 at the corner of Chancellor Matheson Road and University Crescent), along with volunteers collecting donations throughout the stadium. http://bluebombers.com/article/bomber-fans-go-gold-this-friday
Geebrr Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I'd rather give $20 directly try to the cause, and will likely do so. Thanks for posting that. GCJenks 1

Noeller Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I get what a lot of you are saying...and I understand, to a degree, but man....I think about the offseason and how much it sucks with no games on, and I treasure each and every week of Bombers football. I've got the PVR set for tonight, and I'm gonna race home from work to catch it. Whisky ready to pour. I just can't bear to ever miss a game. Don't get me wrong, I'll have the Jays game on "Last Channel" (Unfortunately no coverage of the Oilers game out here...) but the Bombers is my #1 priority. We only get so much Bombers ball, no matter how bad you might think the season is, gotta treasure each game. Hopefully at least a decent game and not a blowout at half time... That's why I'm going to the game tonight. Bombers are still in it. We're due for one upset this year. Noeller and SPuDS 2
Noeller Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 amen, brother...I'll be the lone dissenting voice here in Stampeders land cheering loud......here's hoping!
sweep the leg Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 We're winning by 10 or more tonight. Noeller 1
Harbaugh Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 We're winning by 10 or more tonight. The turnovers against battle, yes.

I can appreciate that, but the off season doesn't seem that long to me anymore, especially with the NHL going till June. I used to think the same way you did. Now Bomber games are just sort of a task rather than being a highlight of the week. Harbaugh 1
Harbaugh Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 I get the CFL itch around May, it ends around September, usually. HardCoreBlue 1

Ya, and I can understand the apathy that leads to that, I suppose, but I guess I'm just not there yet...not sure I ever could be. Win or lose, I absolutely love watching CFL ball and especially Bombers ball. I like hockey for sure, but CFL/Bombers and Curling (I know, I know...) will always be ahead of that for me, personally. But, again, I totally get some people's apathy at this point... blitzmore 1
Geebrr Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 To each their own! I'm a season ticket holder for 2 more years, so I'm not hurting anyone! SPuDS and Noeller 2
Jimmy Pop Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 That email surely wasn't sent to all STH, was it? I just checked and got nothing - another in the LONG list of fails by the BB marketing team. Yes, as someone else said, the team's piss poor play doesn't make their jobs easier, but still... No recent updates on Grey Cup tickets / sales? I guess the master plan is wait until the beginning of November and start unloading them for $20?? I could be way off, but the Bombers response (or lackthereof) to the last update was pretty disheartening.
Geebrr Posted September 25, 2015 Report Posted September 25, 2015 Has anyone actually received their grey cup ticket? My buddy keeps asking, but I have a feeling our card will be the ticket.

There indeed will be the traditional commemorative souvenir tickets that will be distributed near the end of October. Noeller 1

I'm referring to the Bombers press release that put a positive spin on 25K GC tickets sold.
