Rich Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 4 - 0 for The Wild with 1 minute left in the first. Looks like The Moose won't be able to beat The Wild this year.
bustamente Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 4 - 0 for The Wild with 1 minute left in the first. Looks like The Moose won't be able to beat The Wild this year. Definitely the worst lineup the Jets have put out in this years pre seeason
Goalie Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 The moose, Pretty much that. Wild playing their regular season roster... We are playing Lowry,Scheif,Perreault,Trouba and the kids. The D is big time AHL guys... Trouba plus AHL D men... Definitely gonna be killed today.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 5-0 Must kill PaMa to not pull Hutch. It was so easy last year. Dubnyk was UFA remember Trying to find way to blame Toby, need help, anyone? May be bigger cut day tomorrow then expected Now some sanity...its just preseason
bustamente Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 It's safe to say that a lot of our rookies need seasoning in the ahl and that's where their going in a few days.
Goalie Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Petan looking good. The rest not so much. Perreault is -4. Lowry and Trouba and Ehlers -3.
Goalie Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 Don't see how you can really evaluate the kids today tho. Minny is icing their nhl roster. We aren't at all. Will say peluso Hali Cormier kichton Kostalek should all be ahl bound. Maybe Pardy too. Olsen. Probably macwilliam Fraser Morrissey altho hasn't looked awful. Armia invisible again. He's ahl bound too. The rookies don't look terrible. It's the ahl guys and some vets who look really bad.
FrostyWinnipeg Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 We were looking at 1-3 rookies making the team this year. Not looking good for any IMHO.
Goalie Posted September 27, 2015 Report Posted September 27, 2015 The rookies actually don't look that bad. Petan Ehlers are rookies. They look ok. It's the scrubs and bums like peluso Hali Fraser and the ahl guys who played ahl last year who look awful.
Ducky Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 I would have rather have seen some of the "skilled" rookies playing with some vets. I'm not an NHL coach tho.
The Unknown Poster Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 They had Ehlers and Petan with Scheif a bit. And I thought looked good again except he can't hit the broad side of a barn.
The Unknown Poster Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 Winnipeg Sun This supposed rivalry between the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild finally might finally have a little bit of animosity in it. After the Jets were drilled 8-1 by the Wild on Sunday, Jets head coach Paul Maurice expressed some frustration during his post-game media address. “You never get an option in this league,” said Maurice, when asked about his young group going up against veterans in a lopsided affair. “You get into those games and you know, they're going to keep putting out good players, like when they've got an 8-1 lead and they've got a power play, the best is coming out. In an exhibition game.” A follow-up question later in the session about whether Maurice had any issues about how the Jets opponents conducted themselves brought an interesting response. “No, it was just an honour to be in the same building with them tonight,” said Maurice. There was sarcasm dripping from that last comment by Maurice and it's important to remember that it was the Jets head coach who actually promoted Wild head coach Mike Yeo as a strong candidate for the Jack Adams award as NHL coach of the year last spring after the job he did getting his team back in the race when they appeared to be down and out. Yeo was told of the frustration that Maurice expressed about the No. 1 power play unit being sent over the boards late in a blowout during a pre-season game and the Wild bench boss didn't apologize for the action. And Yeo made it clear that this move wasn't about getting the first unit some additional work because it's so late in the pre-season – which would have been an easy out. “Well, I was pretty upset that (Anthony) Peluso was running around,” said Yeo, referring to the Jets enforcer, who got involved with Wild winger Thomas Vanek late in the contest. Jets centre Mark Scheifele also weighed in on the subject of the Wild possibly trying to run up the score further in a blowout. “Obviously a little bit (of frustration), but on the other side, a lot of teams would be doing,” said Scheifele. “It's pre-season and guys are trying to get practice. You don't get a lot of reps on the power play in pre-season, so maybe that's the reason. We don't want to be in that situation anyway, we want to be in a close game. We don't want to have to think about how rattled we are that they've got their big guns out for a power play.” Up until this point, the Jets and Wild have mostly been geographical rivals and haven't seen things go to the next level – something that makes sense considering the teams haven't met in the playoffs and haven't had many excessive incidents despite seeing plenty of each other as members of the Central Division. What we know is that coaches have long memories, so it will be interesting to see if there's any fallout from what happened when these two teams meet for the first time during the regular season, on Oct. 25 at the MTS Centre. To be perfectly honest, this friendly rivalry could use a bit of snarl in it, so kudos to the head coaches for doing their part. GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE? Although the Jets expect to open the new season with Jacob Trouba and Mark Stuart staying together as a duo, Josh Morrissey spent some time with Trouba on Sunday and that could be a pairing to watch down the road, maybe in a year or two. Trouba was the ninth overall pick in 2012, while Morrissey went 13th overall in 2013 and it wouldn't be a stretch to think the Jets' scouting staff envisioned the duo playing together at some point. “He's an easy guy to play with,” said Morrissey. “He played in the NHL at 19 for a reason. He has a ton of skill, he's great defensively, he talks a lot and made it easier for me out there. We've played together a few times before and it's always fun when we get a chance.” Through two NHL seasons, Trouba has already established himself as a 20-plus minute-muncher at the NHL and should be ready to take another step in terms of his offensive production this season. As for Morrissey, it's looking more and more like he's going to be with the Manitoba Moose of the American Hockey League to start his first full season as a pro. Morrissey got a taste of the AHL during the Calder Cup playoffs in 2013 and played well and it's essential for his development that he embraces the chance to go to the minors and works hard to carve out a substantial role for himself. All young players want to be in the NHL – and understandably so – but the Jets have an excess of capable blue-liners, so Morrissey needs to play minutes in all situations to get his game to the point that he's ready to take the next step. AROUND THE GLASS Three players made their Jets' season debuts as Peluso and defencemen Andrew MacWilliam and Jan Kostalek all suited up for the first time of the pre-season...The Jets had only one player who finished with a positive plus/minus on Sunday and that was centre Patrice Cormier, who was plus-1...Wild D Matt Dumba had two goals and four points and finished plus-6.
