The sex tape wouldnt have hurt Hogan either (he wouldnt have lost his job, probably wouldnt have lost endorsements either). But the racist remarks he made, those coming out have most definitely hurt his career. He's lost a significant amount of money as a result. So for Hogan, the release of a tape he didnt know was being made has definitely hurt him.
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) i can see why it hurt him - such as getting fired and removed from the WWE universe, if i was the judge, i'd have been like dont be a racist and you still have your job. no one is responsible for his ignorance but himself. While it is an invasion of privacy, it's really one of those things that is his own stupidity that is the cause of his downfall Edited March 9, 2016 by Taynted_Fayth

While it is an invasion of privacy, it's really one of those things that is his own stupidity that is the cause of his downfall True but it might not excuse Gawker's actions from legal consequence. The issue with Hogan, and we can debate this forever probably, is that Im not going to say he *is* a racist. I dont know him. His words were awful and he deserves shame and consequence as a result. But think of the worst things you've ever said in private and imagine if they were secretly recorded and broadcast to the world...how would it reflect on you?
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Ive talked **** about someone before, probably cuz they deserved it, but never racist. Thats really an unecessary evil, in private or not. Im probably more guilty of being a bit sexist if anything when im chillin with my buddies. But im tryin to change really lol
Brandon Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 If only the Warrior were still alive to throw his opinions around about Hogan Hogan is broke and trying to score one more pay day.... I'm sure he was in on everything and simply wants to extort some money to last him until the next crappy reality show he tries to promote.

That's an interesting opinion though not remotely supported by fact. If the suggestion is Hogan was in on the video tape, the racist remarks being leaked and in on it with Gawker and is now in court suing, then its an insane opinion. What part of this is extortion on Hogan's part?
nate007 Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 22 hours ago, The Unknown Poster said: The so-called apology in his book was more or less a throw away line amounting to "oh by the way, I shouldnt have been so misogynistic...but keep buying my misogynistic albums please". And he did it because he was trying to go mainstream. He was actually up to replace Ghomeshi if you can believe it. I dont believe him for one second. At least he was an equal opportunist hater, insulting women, gays and even Aboriginals. So there's that. His apology at the Aboriginal People's Choice Awards was 2014. He knew why he was doing it. The party defending his actions and words as those of an angry youth at a time when he was in his late 20's and in University is laughable. He's a criminal and a pig. If he wants to run, that's his right. But the NDP should suffer the consequences of supporting him. But again, he wanted Steeves to step down due to remarks of his WIFE. So by Wab's standards, he himself should drop out of the race. Why can't we hold Wab to his own standards? Wab also said part of his turn-around was because he was called to task by his wife and other women in his life. The problem with that 'revelation' is that he was already a married father of two when he released that album and won the award in 2009. Did the ladies he references just sit idly by (pun intended) for five years (and before that when he was a member of the Dead Indians) while he was benefiting from these albums? Or was he ignoring their pleas until it was beneficial to publicly acknowledge them 18 months ago, at pretty much the exact same time he was being hired as an associate VP at a public post-secondary institution?
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) Iirc didnt booker t chime in that hogan called him the n bomb in their wcw days? Doesnt sound like this was hogans first brush with racism ** nevermind, it was booker that dropped the Nbomb in 1997 Edited March 9, 2016 by Taynted_Fayth
Brandon Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Hogan suing Gawker when he probably was the one pushing the video footage because he's desperate for relevance and money. I mention the Warrior because he spoke frequently about Hogan being a slimy guy , being broke and willing to ***** himself and his wife (back in the day) out for money and for acceptance.... from all accounts Hogan not a great guy.

Yup. I dont believe it for a second. Sure, the fact he has this major change in perspective happening on the eve of his political career could be a coincidence. But not likely. And again, regardless, judge him by his own standards - he must step down. Edited March 9, 2016 by The Unknown Poster

You're completely wrong about Hogan and the video. Warrior said a lot of things about a lot of people. He's hardly one who's opinion can be counted. And, by the way, they made up before Warrior died. Hogan was on the receiving end of a lot of negative things but he's also a guy who was the most successful and highly paid in his profession for a long time, something that breeds jealousy. He was also in a business where often times, you have to look after your own interests. I dont know Hogan personally. But cherry picking negative things someone said while ignoring positive doesnt fly.

Brandon Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 Oh I know Warrior was jealous of Hogan and held a lot of resentment. But it's undeniable that he was right (prior to dying and the making up with everyone) when he pointed out that Hogan, his ego and poor life choices ended up with him losing his family and his wealth and going downhill fast. It's nothing unique... look at Sunny / Chyna doing porn because they are desperate for one last bit of money and perhaps fame. I wouldn't doubt Hogan isn't the same. Hogan may have been revered back in the day... but nobody is jealous of that guy now. It's almost sad to see guys like him and Ric Flair who essentially are washed up and have nothing to show after so many years of being famous and in the spot light.

Again, that's an interesting opinion. And you're entitled to it. But its easy to have an opinion of someone when you dont know them. Hogan didnt orchestrate the sex tape because he was desperate for money. That's just plain wrong. The leak cost him a lot of money. He had settled in nicely with a good paying gig with WWE, endorsements and a new wife. Maybe people who live the rock star life have issues. Hogan had a lot of money. He didnt piss it away through bad life choices. He got divorced. You can call that a bad life choice but a lot of people who arent rock stars go through it. And then his idiot son nearly killed someone and Hogan paid. that's why he lost a lot of his fortune. Ric Flair does endorsements too, has a paying gig with WWE. Im not sure washed up is the right words. He's nearly 70 years old. I guess maybe you'd prefer if he sat in a rocking chair on his porch but he's not obligated to do that. Listen to him tell the story...he lived life the way he wanted and is happy for it. "Washed up" isnt the term I'd use. What will you be doing when you're 70? Hogan and Flair probably have more money than we'll have.
Taynted_Fayth Posted March 9, 2016 Report Posted March 9, 2016 when im 70 i hope im haunting a few deserving people as a jerk ghost, not the scary kind, just the kind that open your doors and windows and stuff lol id be ok with that The Unknown Poster 1

Hogan and Flair probably have more money than we'll have. I listened to Ric Flair podcasts where he says he's broke and said he loved the business but made way to many bad business decisions. I doubt that right now he is in a better financial position then most of us. After watching WFX shows it was truly sad seeing many former superstars being so down and broke. I guess it's part of the old wrestling life style. For every DDP... their are dozens of guys who simply pissed everything away and who have to ***** themselves just to get by. Hogan - http://slam.canoe.com/Slam/Wrestling/2011/09/29/18758376.html The guy is broke and the last few years he's been trying to sue to get one last pay cheque.... I may have the wrestling terminology incorrect... but you appear to be a "mark" so perhaps you can't picture your childhood hero being a bum? Hogan's brand is pretty worthless these days so instead of crappy reality shows and tv movies... I'm guessing he can only sue to get money these days.

Hogan's brand is pretty worthless these days so instead of crappy reality shows and tv movies... I'm guessing he can only sue to get money these days. Actually, the term "mark" you're trying to use applies to you, not me. That Hogan article is from 2011 and his "near bankruptcy" was exactly what I already explained above. Hogan wasnt a childhood hero of mine. You're making statements that are factually wrong about Hogan. You do this a lot...you say something that is wrong and rather than admit it you keep arguing the point. Flair had four wives. Im not saying these guys are perfect examples of how to make and invest wealth. But calling them names and making up things because its fun to refer to celebrities as "washed up" is low. Maybe thats a difference between you and me. I dont look at someone, whether its a wrestler, rock star or other celebrity and say gee look how sad it is that they still perform in their 40's, 50's, 60's etc. Who are we to judge? By the way, a lot of celebrities from that era had the same sort of money issue. One thing WWE does now is provide training and additional support upon request for their talent. Back in the 70's and 80's when it was strictly a cash business, times were different. Also, a lot of guys arent making a fortune. They pay their own road expenses, hotel, some transportation etc, to follow their dream. Not everyone made millions of dollars and pissed it away. Also the Slam article that purports Hogan lost "hundreds of millions" is wrong. Hogan never had hundreds of millions. But hey, maybe you're right. What do I know. ;-) Edit: Even your closing remark is wrong as Hogan recently picked up an endorsement. He will also be back in WWE sooner or later. Maybe he's suing because someone damaged him with a video taped without his consent, not because its a desperate plan to try and "extort" money. Oh yeah and where is he extorting money from...? Taynted_Fayth Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 (edited) I think the monetary compensation is irrelevant, mentioning andrews case as a precedent for the parallel win for Hogan as they are somewhat similar in nature is more the point. Brandon Posted March 10, 2016 Report Posted March 10, 2016 Did I not read about Bubba admitting that Hogan was in on recording the sex tape? Sorry I was under the impression that "mark" was someone who was such a blatant fan of wrestling that they believe or will do anything to follow the fantasy. I think it's nice that you will defend Hogan to the bitter end and not even consider his past history and the fact that more then likely he's trying to scam money. Always believe Brotha!

"Mark" has a few meanings. You'd have to be pretty dense to think that definition applies to me since Im in the wrestling business so the "fantasy" belief aspect doesnt apply to me. Bubba ended up paying Hogan a settlement. Im not "defending" Hogan. You just dont know what you're talking about... You said Hogan is extorting. What and who is he extorting? You say more than likely Hogan is trying to scan money. In what way? You realise this is an actual trial in front of an actual judge right?
