pigseye Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Owens is beat up. He's getting old approaching his mid 30's & he might have a season or 2 left. Chick is in his 30's as well. He's not the same player he was even 2 years ago. But we need them for our playoff run, both have rings, could be just the veteran leadership we are missing.
Fatty Liver Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Those are the kinds of trades that appealed to Brendan Taman, which eventually cost him his job. Westy Sucks and Bigblue204 2
Westy Sucks Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 No way this trade ever happens. It would very dumb on our part. That's a Taman trade idea that would not work out for us.
Guest J5V Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Denmark for chad owens (straight up or with something give or take to make it fair trade) Wild for Chick? (Same as above) My thinking is owens isnt having his best year, nor is denmark, but both can be explosive as well as owens improving our return game imo. Love wild as I do denmark but we are pretty deep at lb and need a rush end opposite to westerman. thoughts? Interesting thought but no. I see Denmark and Wild as long-term Bombers. If anything I want to lock them up.

If you were going to throw in a draft pick or two to get Chick and Owens you would have gotten full marks from the Tamen School of Roster Management. As it is, trading younger guys for older ones only gets you part marks. Make sure that when you sign Owens and Chick you really front load their contracts too because... "F" the future.

bearpants Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 We're 4 - 10, I'd do both those trades and a few more: Demond Washington for footballs Greg Peach for water bottles Chevy Walker for tape you get the idea. I like Washington so I wouldn't trade him... but that's petty good value for the other two...
wookie Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 no need to bring in the over 30 yr olds, not good way to get better

You can always bundle draft picks when making deals for players. Sometimes it makes the difference.
AKAChip Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Legitimately would not trade Brohm for Owens.
gbill2004 Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Legitimately would not trade Brohm for Owens. Yes you would. That's just silly talk.
AKAChip Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 I wouldn't take on his salary, so no. Also, he's an ass.
iso_55 Posted October 6, 2015 Report Posted October 6, 2015 Owens an ass? What did he do to make you feel that way?
Logan007 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Owens an ass? What did he do to make you feel that way? My guess would be that he was being an ass.
gbill2004 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Owens an ass? What did he do to make you feel that way?My guess would be that he was being an ass. Maybe Owens slept with his wife.
pigseye Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 Owens is definitely washed up, nice call.
trueBlue83 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 haha.... that was a beauty catch last night. But I did notice on a couple of his returns, that he doesn't appear to have that breakaway speed he has had in the past. Might have lost a step, but still a very good player!
Goalie Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 He's a good player but... he's not the same as he used to be, GREAT CATCH last night, unreal really but... I don't think i'd want him here.
Noeller Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 his best days are definitely behind him and I question his durability now, but he's still got some magic in there. Probably should be a lifer in T.O. and retire respectfully... Bigblue204 1
Bigblue204 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 I've been hard on Owen most of his career. I honestly think he's been overrated for most of it. Last nights catch though...WOW. What a beauty. Saying that, I still wouldn't want him. Even just to sign him as a free agent. The guy has been making far too many mistakes this year. K well maybe as a free agent signing...but it'd have to be for cheap.
Fatty Liver Posted October 7, 2015 Report Posted October 7, 2015 In general signing a great player near the end of his playing career is a very bad idea, be it Ray, Owens or Dressler. Better to invest the money saved on salary to find great players at the beginning of their playing careers.
